The whole point is to make a "best effort" attempt at making the screen less smudgy, so if it does a worse job over time its not a life or death matter. The last iPhone was fine without it.

I'm not sure about scratches, but I'm not very impressed. My fingers still leave noticeable smudges and it doesn't seem all that much easier to wipe the smudges off. If it really does scratch easier this coating is absolutely not worth it. - erikwithaknotac, on 06/25/2009, -1/+14@yocouchdigga:
