- maddendude, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Why pay for something that you can get for free? Yahoo free fantasy football is far better than any others.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Just draft Ladainian Tomlinson. Enough said.
- mkwng, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5The article doesn't rank guides or informational sites, it ranks providers who offer tools to manage leagues.
Buyer beware - ESPN's first foray into free leagues with fantasy baseball this year was a complete disaster. Stats didn't update, transactions weren't processed, and they ended up pushing a reset button about 2-3 weeks into the season, wiping out EVERY team's stats from the beginning of the season and rerunning them. They gave everyone access to their "Insider" fantasy content as a consolation, but it ***** a lot of people over. I'm sticking with Yahoo! from now on. - AdonalFoyle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3you must be horrible then--getting advice for NFL from an NBA ref.
- iamdan1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I agree about the baseball sucking. I have used yahoo for many sports for 9 years, and this year we tried espn and it isn't as user friendly as yahoo. Go Yahoo!
- halligan00, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Yahoo! FTW
- DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Cheapest would be free in my book...
- Temeriere, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2An ok article, but I don't see what people are losing their heads over. Not dugg, not buried by me. Just underwhelmed. Four hosting sites and a couple of Fantasy info sites does not an 'Ultimate' anything make.
- gimlik, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Decent article for newbs. Dugg
- in2deep, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2All these guides and tips are a big scheme....fantasy football comes down to one major thing...your turn in the draft!
- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I get advice from Tim Donaghy,
- sinurgy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Thanks for taking the time out your "life" to post on an internet message board about my apparent lack of one. lol...sad little man!
- sinurgy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I second that, I've been running Yahoo Fantasy Leagues in football, hockey and baseball for 7 years now. I love it and can't imagine playing elsewhere. It's better than most all the other sites, has a simple and fast user interface (thanks but I don't need to see the latest Dodge Durango drive across my screen while trying to manage my team) and best of all it's FREE!! Use the money for league prizes instead of paying to play at an inferior site.
- Barbarino, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2cbssportsline is considered the #1 site. My draft is 3 weeks away, I guess it's either LT or Steven Jackson, LT's new staff scares me while Bulger signed a 6 year deal..
- mal1964, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2But I'm rich!
- champsampson, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I have been playing Fantasy Football for 8 years on MANY sites, RT is The Best. CBS is good but pricey.
- TheCricket, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah, now that I re-read that I look like a 'turfer. The point I was trying to make is that the article doesn't seem very comprehensive, since they left out nearly every major service I've ever heard of. I probably should have left the particular name out of my post, for credibility and all. Oh well, I think I'll still sleep tonight.
- VictorH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Dugg for a good introduction to the rising popularity of fantasy football. But only listing paid sites, at $100 or more each?
Software4free.org has an excellent overview of sites where you can play fantasy football for free, including cheat sheets, scoring and anything else that will help answer "Who should I draft?"
http://www.software4free.org/fantasyfootball.html - Barbarino, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I dunno, new coaching staff scares me.
- MindTrigger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah, and I was kidding anyway.
- oppositionrad, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2i think the only live scoring system that DIDN'T go down at some point during the season was at http://www.fanball.com using their commissioner product - they've got all the functionality of Sportsline at half the price - and http://www.ownersedge.com is a good place for tips and tricks for kicking some a** in your fantasy leagues.
- allnightbaby, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Let me guess. You have the #2 pick.
- talool, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1if your looking to play in the english premier league then the best site for that is fantasy.premierleague.com
- toxicredm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How does that work? Do players get points for every time they touch the ball?
- oppositionrad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1fanball has a good introduction to fantasy football here as well: http://www.fanballnews.com/nfl/fantasy101/
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I put a hell of alot less time into Fantasy Football than anyone i know does with WoW. I dedicate maybe 6 hours of my time the entire year to fantasy football, while as WoW nerds sometimes dedicated 6+ hours a DAY to WoW.
- inactive, on 08/24/2009, -0/+1Romo or Rodgers? http://thefantasyknowitall.blogspot.com/2009/08/ta ...
- oppositionrad, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1the free sites aren't really free - no live scoring on Yahoo
- crossers, on 07/18/2008, -0/+1yes of course!, as video-games mostly play boys and as 90% of them football funs it's logical that the favorite game all over the world is football.

http://xptweak.net - sweetiemm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Sorry, I think Owners Edge is a rip off. I bought it for two years - and it didn't help me any more than I could help myself.
- sweetiemm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm a fantasy football commissioner and I got wise to the "tips for sale" racket awhile ago. I quit paying for cheat sheets, tips, strategy guides or anything - I find it free online. My personal fave is fftoolbox.com. Excellent info 4 free. Also if you go to the forums like fantasyfootball cafe you will find very knowledge players and can get advice, etc. We do pay an annual fee for our league management, but that is because it is customized and we've had our league there forever. We use fanball.com, cost= $59/year for our league scoring & management. You can even find great league management online for free - make sure any one you sign up for has live scoring - that makes football season so fun when you can constantly check your scoring. fanball even has league scoring for mobile phones, so if we are at a game we can see what's happening. LOVE fantasy football!!
- Rethcir, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I'm drafting Pacman Jones' attorney #1
- MindTrigger, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2Lol, you may consider getting your own life.
- MindTrigger, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1BTW, I'm just messing with you guys. Although I wouldn't do this ghey stuff. lol
- lafan313, on 10/10/2007, -0/+099% of fantasy football fans will kick 99% of WoW fans asses. Try it before you knock it.
- talool, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0no they get points for clean sheets if they are defenders, they also get points for goals and assists
- zenerdiode, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1You still have to pay on Yahoo to get live stat tracking (very useful) and "exclusive info" (pretty useless). Otherwise Yahoo is the slickest, easiest to use one.
Our league uses CBS Sportsline though, mainly for the reasons they list...it keeps a long and accurate history. Oh, it also has a bigger pool of obscure free agents...which is actually important for a 20 team league like ours. Sometimes a practice squad WR might get playing time for a week filling for a depleted team...Yahoo may or may not have the player listed at all, but Sportsline has been really good at having ALL the players available. - Ty1erDurd3n, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1yea picked up Mike Vick in the first round, my team is so solid this season
- DiggsOnlyNeoCon, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3How many times do I have to hit the next button....
- TheCricket, on 10/10/2007, -3/+3They didn't even mention my personal favorite, http://www.rtsports.com. I've run a league there for the last 6 years and it's the best service I've ever used. I'm not related to them at all, just a happy customer.
- CoronaVegas, on 10/10/2007, -2/+2http://www.Fanball.com for $70, best and cheapest site out there.
Also found this nice free site: http://www.wageronfootball.com/07/ff/2007-fantasy-football-guide.html
for research and rankings if you are too cheap to pay $8 for a magazine. - Jayblonde, on 06/29/2009, -0/+0The best I've found is www.rapiddraft.com play against the pros, no dead teams, but still all the smack talk with friends.
- skyfire1, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2*****.
- pyroh, on 10/10/2007, -4/+2AKA: Advanced Dungeons and Dragons for has-been jocks
- MindTrigger, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1This is just as, if not more GEEKY than ***** WoW. Lounge chair athletes FTW. Why don't you fat bastards PLAY a sport? lol
- ruest, on 10/10/2007, -7/+1d&d for jocks
- wisie, on 10/10/2007, -8/+1how about fantasy soccer?
