- acmaurer, on 08/05/2008, -1/+76OK, good luck with that, NFL
- MattFromSeattle, on 08/05/2008, -1/+56No verbal harassment of the opposing teams fans? What is this, elementary school? If you can't handle someone razzing you about your team allegiance, you're too big of a puss to be outside on your own.
- lukemorris, on 08/05/2008, -1/+46Once again proving NFL = No Fun League
- Zanzabar33, on 08/05/2008, -1/+37No verbal harassment of opposing teams fans? Then why the hell do we even have the Browns??
- techblogLAT, on 08/05/2008, -1/+35What kind of insensitive clod would drink at a sporting event?
/sarcasm - jozeran, on 08/05/2008, -4/+37And this is why the NHL is more fan-friendly than the NFL.
- boakes, on 08/05/2008, -1/+28The NFL has turned into a bunch of whiny, spoiled brats - on and off the field
- Ryansmellsfarts, on 08/05/2008, -0/+22Sucks for Raiders fans.
- inactive, on 08/05/2008, -2/+16This just seems silly to me. Then again, the league would probably look bad if it didn't have a fan code of conduct.
- trer, on 08/05/2008, -0/+13What do they think this is, tennis? Imagine sitting in the black hole at a Raiders game and going, "shhhh" to the liquored up 260lb guy next to you wearing skulls around his neck.
- floridiot2, on 08/05/2008, -0/+11"detracts from the gameday experience."
That IS the gameplay experience. - R0am3r, on 08/05/2008, -0/+11Enforcement of the code of conduct will reduce the attendance at Ralph Wilson Stadium to about 17 fans.
- serif69, on 08/05/2008, -0/+10Philadelphia led professional sports in America with the ability to arrest, contain, process, try, convict, and sentence fans all within the confines of the stadium, with a handful of holding cells and a district judge on hand because of the sheer number of drunken idiots getting into fights at the Vet. Looks like they may have to bring that back. You stay classy, Philadelphia.
- nickels, on 08/05/2008, -0/+10Philly fan here, looks like a lot of locals are about to lose their seats!
- dafragsta, on 08/05/2008, -0/+10... and Eagles fans.
- romeyinfc, on 08/05/2008, -0/+9Yes, if only they could actually NOT SCREW UP their TV deals they could find their way off Page 6.
- dracostimpy, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8Sounds like someone's in need of a flaming bag of ***** on his doorstep.
- arplayer2k, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8I remeber this ***** happening to me when I went to see OAK vs KC in Oakland. Me and my friends were very drunk, and yelling at the Chiefs about eight rows above their sideline. A police on the field noticed us yelling, and radioed for some pigs from in the stadium to come and kick us out. Luckily the cops werent able to grab a hold of me, but my neighbor got the boot. Also, we werent the only ones yelling, this was a rivalry game, so everyone was making some kind of noise. This ploy to censor the audience is lame and I hope it backfires.
- jetboyterp, on 08/05/2008, -0/+8"Verbal or physical harassment of fans from the opposing team."
As a loyal NY Jets fan, I can honestly say we are very considerate of the opposing team's fans. Now, the NY Giants fans are a different story.
But c'mon, "rude gestures"? The opposing team's PLAYERS do that to the fans. What are we supposed to do, sit quietly at the game? No "booing"? - jetboyterp, on 08/05/2008, -3/+11The NBA is worse. So far...
- jorichter, on 08/05/2008, -1/+8That's what the game is all about... I call BS.
- robdiggity, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7"Rules include: • Drunkenness • Foul or abusive language • Verbal or physical harassment of fans from the opposing team."
I thought they pretty much did all that already? - slickrocktrail, on 08/05/2008, -0/+7You SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCK!.
It that still allowed? - skandalouslsu, on 08/05/2008, -1/+7Good thing it cost too much to get drunk at an NFL game.
- quomen, on 08/05/2008, -5/+11Have you heard of figurative language?
- KaJuN4, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6Seriously. If I wanted to be around a bunch of well-behaved people I would go to an art museum instead of a football stadium.
- whiteknives, on 08/05/2008, -0/+6Heh, what about harassment of fans of the same team?
- MrBill79, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Actually, they can. On the back of every ticket it says the NFL can throw you out for whatever the hell they feel like.
Not saying I agree with it, it's just the way it is. - evan3168, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5the chicago tribune is really blowing up the front page
- charmaniac, on 08/05/2008, -0/+5Good luck indeed. The NFL has gotten way too cocky under the new Roger Goodell reign. Last year it was the NFL network *****, destroying spygate tapes immediately, and suspending Pac Man Jones without a single conviction against him (I am all for suspending players, but start with the already convicted ones first).
Now they are trying to institute ground rules for fans? No drunkenness? Yeah, I am sure the beer sponsors will love that idea. - MattFromSeattle, on 08/05/2008, -6/+11Have you spent a day in Iraq?
- sdub74, on 08/05/2008, -1/+6I think the rule to wearing the opposing teams jersey should be that you can root for your team, but if your team is beating the home team, keep your mouth shut. If you start talking trash to the home fans, you deserve any heckling that comes your way.
- charmaniac, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5Heckling is part of the fun. If I can't yell "You suck Brady!" when the pats come in town, whats the point? Also, no drunkenness? ***** that noise.
- Palaceguard, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4"Foul or abusive language or obscene gestures"
Baby school - pilotlicense, on 08/05/2008, -5/+9Well said. NHL ftw.
- Ultra200, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Dallas Sucks!!!!!!!!!!!
- spokesandspools, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4have you ever been to Mccaffe Coliseum for a Raider game against a division team? The Black Hole alone likely makes up for 60% of swear words yelled.
if they enforce this adamantly they better be prepared to throw out every single fan in the stadium. - theImmodiumGuy, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Marge, this ticket gives me the right - no - the duty to make a complete ass of myself.
Homer FTW - wezults, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Goodell, Selig, Stern. Its funny to me that these most powerful men in American sports are most of the time reduced to being third grade teachers.
- KJSatz, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4Yeah, if you don't have enforced drunk curse-laden harassment....
Reminds me of the rules for the dances back in high school "GUIDELINES: GRINDING OF GENITALS, BUTTOCKS, OR BREASTS." - KaJuN4, on 08/05/2008, -0/+4If I paid $60 or more for a seat I'd be verbally abusive as well.
- Biller13, on 08/05/2008, -1/+5This is stupid, when I was visiting a friend in Boston I wore my Yankee jersey to the game. I knew people were going to start ***** with me with but I wanted to represent. A couple of people jeered and made remarks and I responded right back. I just ignored the drunken idiots because they're the ones that are going to get physical and if someone comes at me I'm going to strike first - and get thrown out of the game. If you can't handle the jeering then simply don't wear the jersey, period.
- wazzu07, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3So what about when the whole crowd yells "*****"? Welp clear the stadium I guess...
- badasschick, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3I'm pretty sure this ain't gonna go over well with Eagles fans...let's be real, they beat up Santa Claus.
- hookman, on 08/05/2008, -1/+4BOOOOOOOURNS!
- Lucian0, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3Drunken verbal abuse and foul language are a part of the game for fans
- ancalagon73, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3Shouldn't they have (and enforce) a code of conduct for their players first?
- futurekill, on 08/05/2008, -1/+4Nah...My dad just got a notice that the season tickets he has with the Giants are going to cost him $20k per seat (he has 4) for the RIGHT to buy the seats at $750/seat (up from about $95 I think). Needless to say I won't be going to anymore football games any time soon.
- cien750hp, on 08/06/2008, -0/+3apparently the nfl scans stubhub for season tickets. if you're a season ticket holder and sell your tickets there, i believe they revoke your season tickets.
the nfl really sucks. - scoottie, on 08/05/2008, -0/+3doesnt that sum up all the raider fans?
