Free-agent quarterback Daunte Culpepper has reached a deal with the winless Detroit Lions but has ^YET TO SIGN A CONTRACT^, Coach Rod Marinelli said Sunday.
So which is true? The description or the title? - inactive, on 04/03/2009, -3/+17This is great! I miss watching Culpepper fumble twice a week and blame it on his "small hands."
- woodyinthehoody, on 11/03/2008, -0/+11terrible use of the pedobear
- slvrbullet87, on 11/03/2008, -1/+10In other news Vinny Testeverte is still available
- blurrie, on 11/03/2008, -0/+8i feel like he has a red football phone in his vinny layer... waiting to be called back into action.
- ld25, on 11/03/2008, -0/+5Isn't there a receiver they could draft in the first round instead?
- DiggerDave08, on 11/03/2008, -1/+6THE CURSE OF BOBBY LAYNE
Detroit enjoyed its greatest success in the 1950s. Led by quarterback Bobby Layne, they won the league championship in 1952, 1953, and 1957. They defeated the Cleveland Browns in each of those NFL Championship Games, but also lost to the Browns in the 1954 Championship Game.
In 1958, after he had led the Lions to three NFL Championships and provided Detroit nearly a decade of Hall of Fame play, the Lions traded Bobby Layne. Bobby was injured during the last championship season, and the Lions thought he was through and wanted to get what they could for him. According to legend, as he was leaving for Pittsburgh, Bobby said that Detroit "would not win for 50 years." Since this time, the Lions have not won another championship and have only a single playoff game win. Some have attributed the Lions' subsequent 49 years of futility to the "Curse of Bobby Layne." - pacificislandr4, on 11/03/2008, -1/+5With the first pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions select.... Tim Tebow, Quarterback, University of Florida.
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -1/+5This is totally stupid. Orlovsky is starting to get the hang of things and the team seems like they are actually coming together somewhat. Typical Lions stupid decisions. They don't know how to win from the CEO down to last player.
- RoloTomasie, on 11/03/2008, -1/+5Throw him to the Lions!
- MagMan68Classic, on 11/03/2008, -3/+7It would be nice to see Stanton play before Culpepper, but as an experienced Lion fan, I know that wont happen
- EatingPaste, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4/sarcasm?
- SteveMTyler, on 11/03/2008, -0/+4a true fan would know its jon kitna,
- ColinApocalypse, on 11/03/2008, -1/+5It doesn't matter who the Lions pick up. I have watched them my whole life...they are cursed..
- Mutiny32, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3*COUGH*Joey Harrington*COUGH*
- xanadu2113, on 11/03/2008, -2/+5 i like john kitna

- DiggerDave08, on 11/03/2008, -1/+4As a HUGE MSU fan and a Stanton fan...and finally a *Cough* lion fan, I'd like to see stanton either played or traded somewhere where he will play!
- benitojuarez, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3hah bitter grossman led the bears to come from behind and win today?
- BigE89, on 11/03/2008, -0/+3I miss the Culpepper-Moss combination in the Vikings
- toddc612, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2Whoa, wait a second.. Look, Calvin Johnson is good receiver, but equal to Randy Moss? I don't think the rest of the league got this memo.
Don't count your chickens before they're hatched, my friend. - Zegarek, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3It's a mix of both. He's worked out with the team and they have one worked out. They just can't sign until Monday because the NFL just LOVES retarded rules like ones that say you can't sign a new player on Sundays...
- obliviousfool, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3At this point they should save money, develop the young guy (whatever his name is), and aim for the pole position in the draft.
- Mutiny32, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3Damnit Herm. Well, at least Thighpen pulled a Houdini on everyone and is playing like he means it, I'm all for it.
- almondfilter3, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3People forget how awful he was, after that amazing season that got overshadowed by Peyton's record breaking one the same year, and before he actually got hurt. He's got nothing left.
- obliviousfool, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2I dunno. I watched the Bears game yesterday, and Orlovsky wasn't terrible. Part of their problem is they get in situations where they have to throw the ball too much. 47 attempts?! One or two excellent RBs from the next draft would work wonders for that team.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2He'll probably be backup. I mean their first qb went down for the season. What else are you going to do then to look for a backup for your backup?
- Spartyon, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3it just doesn't matter. we will suck until ford dies.
- aftern9ne, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3Suck on the dick of the rest of the NFC like you have been all season, Lions.
Suck it real good. - juneau, on 11/03/2008, -1/+3Wait, when was Dante ever a good athlete? A trained monkey could've QB'd that team to 15-1, oh wait........
But seriously, Dante is one of the most legitimately stupid QB's to ever play. Can't read a defense and can't fumble less than 3 times a game. - habbofresh, on 11/03/2008, -0/+2hugopolsky,
you're doing it wrong. - inactive, on 11/04/2008, -0/+1so i guess culpepper has been signed and orlovsky's hand is in a cast due to a sprained thumb. Culpepper to start next week.
- sgtbutterscotch, on 11/04/2008, -0/+1Hahahaha.
Orlovsky got injured Sunday. - iammzac, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2Cool.
- livefromheaven, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2Nooo!!!! We need you back in MN!!!
- enotswhat, on 11/04/2008, -0/+1Matt Millen is gone
- Jeez, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1
Little hope for the Spartans what are you talking about? The Spartans will get in Jan 1 bowl bid heck if they beat the Penn st they can win the big title even thou that's unlikely. People were predicting they won't make it to the Bowl this year at the start of the season. - avalokiteshvara, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2That's cool, but I think the Lions have a lot more they need to fix than just the quarterback position. Fer crying out loud, how long have they been at or near the bottom of the NFL?
- obliviousfool, on 11/04/2008, -0/+1You say that as if they weren't successful with Sims and Sanders.
They finally figured out to fire Millen. Short of the Fords selling the team, that's probably the best shot you have at ending all the strange front-office decisions. For the life of me, I could not see the logic in the Lions' last draft at all. That's most of the problem, there. Teambuilding isn't like playing darts. - nick2, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2Go Pack Go!
- DanCallen, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1This is just an attempt to get Lions fans hope up. What it is really for is to sell stadium tickets, so they don't have anymore TV black outs. The Owners/FORDS only care about filling the stadium for TV money. For example Pontiac Silver Dome was fine, but it had black outs all the time because they couldn't fill. No one wanted to go through the pain week in week out. They told everyone the stadium was in bad shape and built the Ford Field in Detroit. Reducing the size by many seats. They have never cared about winning. The Lions will never be successfully until the Fords sell. The Lions are the worst Franchise in History!
- ld25, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1only a little. but after being a fan this long, its kind of fun to see them come up with new ways to lose.
- blurrie, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2yikes
- MeatMountain, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1Jeff George was unavailable.
- inactive, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1Cowboys would have been better off getting him for a backup, CANT be any worse then Bollinger or old ***** washed out actually never has been good Johnson.
- airforceteacher, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1"One or two excellent RBs"? Sigh, they've had their chance with one or two excellent RBs - do Billy Sims and Barry Sanders ring a bell? I've been a Lions fan for 30 years, and it pains me to say it, but they don't deserve any more good RBs until they can figure out how not to waste them.
- stockjones, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2Man the poor lions how far will the hole go?
- juneau, on 11/03/2008, -1/+2In other news:
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! - gkiltz, on 11/03/2008, -0/+1A desperate team, signing a desperate man!
I feel for the fans in Detroit!
That has the potential to be one of the best football markets in the country.
There does not seem to be much hope for the Wolverines, and only a little bit more for the Spartans!
THE DETROIT FANS DESERVE BETTER! - sgtbutterscotch, on 11/03/2008, -3/+3………………….._,,-~’’’¯¯¯’’~-,,
