- Someb0dy, on 11/12/2008, -0/+20A golf club to the face also provides high levels of iron.
- Ecochick, on 11/11/2008, -0/+17I'm loving the cold edemame salad at Whole Foods lately. Can't seem to get enough! Is easier and less messy than peeling and eating Japanese-resto style. I'd rather eat that than organ meats, that's for sure (shiver)!!
- d2002, on 11/11/2008, -1/+18Oysters!
- wealer, on 11/11/2008, -1/+18Lightly wilted steamed spinach with olive oil, sea salt and pepper is simply the most delicious way to eat iron.
- balibones, on 11/11/2008, -1/+18He's Popeye the Sailor Man. He's Popeye the Sailor Man. He's strong to the finich cause he eats his spinach, he's Popeye the sailor man.

I could be more descriptive but I'm supposed to monitor a nuclear reactor so I'll leave it at that.
- socialpyramid, on 11/12/2008, -0/+8where's bacon?

- sockpuppets, on 11/13/2008, -1/+9My mom never shared hers with me. She was pretty shellfish.
- austang, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7Pumpkin seeds, Seaweed. Both are EXTREMELY RICH with Iron.
What's interesting about spinach is it actually impairs your body's ability to absorb iron, even though it is iron rich. So all the iron in spinach will pretty much just come out the pooper. - cyrusuncc, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7toot toot!
- dwalker, on 11/12/2008, -0/+7I prefer to chew on the bars of my cell.
Delicious. - sockpuppets, on 11/13/2008, -0/+6Buy your lady a razor and a bar of soap.

(It's relevant, right!) - MewTwo, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4No fair. Men need less than half what we need. That's cause they don't lose however many ounces of iron every month. Bastards.
P.S. I might like pumpkin seeds - MoFoKeR, on 11/13/2008, -0/+4Men really shouldnt eat to much food high in iron since it can make you sluggish and becouse we need less than women and we conserve better the amount we intake .Mainly becouse already consume enough in our daily diet that we dont need extra of it.Also includes taking supplements like multivitamins men should steer clear of high amounts of iron in vitamins and go for a iron free multivitamin substitutes...good list if you have a DIFICIENCY OF IRON other wise dont even bother guys.See a doctor on that note
- jec68, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3be careful guys, iron causes a lot of the cell damage associated with aging...
- starfocus, on 11/12/2008, -0/+3I'm such a fan of the edamame as well. It's awesome and delicious.
- Hodor, on 11/13/2008, -0/+3Cook in a cast-iron fry pan. :)
- mllind, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Iron helps us play!
- austang, on 11/12/2008, -0/+2My father would always make me eat manly food like buffalo, or lion or something.
- whereisian, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2More testicles means more iron
- inactive, on 11/12/2008, -2/+4Dates, Liver??
http://www.yummyuck.com - OneLess, on 11/13/2008, -1/+3So to put it another way, the ***** of spinach eaters is also an excellent source of iron.
- h3110, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Most men should actually try to reduce their iron intake because they usually have too much. Unlike women, we don't have periods to flush excessive iron out. In addition, men tend to eat more meat. Take iron-free multivitamins and avoid consuming too much meat.
Iron is in almost everything but does that mean we should starve ourselves? No. There are two types of iron: heme (in animal products) and non-heme iron (veges, multivitamins, cereal etc.). For women, it doesn't matter which type of iron they take. For men, they should take more non-heme iron. Both female and male bodies can easily regulate absorption of non-heme iron. The body simply refuses to absorb the non-hem iron if there is enough. However, with heme iron (in animal products), the body cannot control it and the iron gets absorbed even if the body has enough.
It is also believed by some that iron is the reason for shorter life span in men. - inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Not a bad idea,
Where do you get sea salt though? Same place where regular salt is? - adamk0310, on 11/13/2008, -0/+2Nails, rebar, sunken aircraft carriers...
- directrix13, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1I see what you are saying here. Living is the number one cause of death.
- sbaysem, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1how bout bitter lemon or animal liver?
- cddict1, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1Great list. But i think spinach should come at higher position in this table. may be at number 3 0r 4.
- DaffyDuck, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1The iron kind. But seriously, a properly seasoned skillet will not get much iron into the food (IMO).
- DaffyDuck, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/diet.fitness/11/13/ ...
Notice how they recommend NOT taking iron. It is not good to get too much iron. - inactive, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1"Iron helps us play!"
- ffttoteof, on 11/14/2008, -0/+1Which kind of iron is absorbed into food cooked in a cast iron skillet?
- FLarsen, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Try spinach pizza.
- OneLess, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Mmmm, organ meats.
(That's what she said) - jimmyp, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1Spinach doesn't actually have that much more iron in than other leaf veg. It's myth!
http://soundmedicine.iu.edu/segment.php4?seg=238 - thegreenspanput, on 11/12/2008, -0/+1that wasn't very PC of you...
- linagee, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1About 500 grams of spinach a day to meet the RDA for iron.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spinach#Nutrition - AyaJulia, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1I tried to donate blood once and got turned away due to low iron. I took iron tablets for a week or so after that, thinking I needed them... and damn if that week didn't involve some of the most painful ***** I've ever had in my life. :s I'd rather be anemic than ever go through that again. Iron overload is horrible.
(Inevitably some smartass will feel the need to point out that it's just as stupid to get too much as it is to not get enough, and the idea is to eat properly and get just enough. I know that, so carry on--just sharing a funny story from when I was younger and dumber.) - kishosingh, on 11/13/2008, -0/+1http://recipescookingtips.blogspot.com/ here are some Indian food also which can give you Iron and Protein.
