livescience.com — Overall, Americans are drinking less beer, but more wine, while consumption of hard liquor has remained fairly constant. Also, more people say they don't drink, and those born later in the 20th century are more moderate drinkers than their parents.

This probably won't make the nightly news, I'm guessing. It's always amusing to see the generation that gave us Animal House and the Grateful Dead bloviate on the evils of drunkenness. Even their parents had hard time keeping their hands off the juice before five in the evening. I guess memory fades in old age, though.
