- Zilk, on 03/27/2008, -22/+184Haha, German food sucks.
- acroyear2, on 03/27/2008, -6/+30German food is much worse than I thought.
- fodbirdy, on 03/27/2008, -2/+62Real German food is amazing, but their fast food - I don't even think Americans would eat
- OwdenBowden, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1You haven't seen nothing till you hit England, Scotland and Ireland - I suggest they just keep to spirits.
- Vlatro, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1I take mild offense to that, I'm American, but my family's Irish. Granted half the food looks and smells like something you couldn't force-feed a starving pig with, but when you're hungry, nothing hits the spot better than that. Also mind you, there's the stuff the locals eat and the stuff they give to tourists. "Authentic" food means over priced ***** we couldn't sell yesterday. Wait until dinner time and follow a crowd of locals into and eating establishment, order what they order and you'd be surprised.
- TnTBass, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6Look at the ads for North American fast food - its the same thing. I have never seen a burger at any fast food joint look like it does in the picture.
- OwdenBowden, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1You haven't seen nothing till you hit England, Scotland and Ireland - I suggest they just keep to spirits.
- heavyd14, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6If you actually look at the site, with the 100 products, some of them look rather like the picture. I'm still not sure I would eat some of it though.
- heymike, on 03/27/2008, -0/+10Have you seen the cheeseburger in a can? That is a German invention I think: http://gizmodo.com/350091/cheeseburger-in-a-can-is ...

- studdenfadden, on 03/27/2008, -5/+6The ***** in these adds is only eaten by Germans on welfare and illegal immigrants. No one else that kind of crap, real German food is quite good.
- earful, on 03/27/2008, -0/+10It's not just German food — American frozen food suffers from the same perception and quality difference.

How can anyone not love an animal that's ground up, then stuffed into its own intestines and served as a sausage?
Top it off with some sauerkraut and you've got the best meal ever.- ZombieKiss, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1omfg I think you just turned me into a vegetarian...
- 2shae, on 03/27/2008, -5/+3This was all bought at the Aldi or Lidl or something.
For the people that don't know...Aldi and Lidl are supermarkets that only sells B-products food.- kilworth, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6Wrong and wrong.. most of the stuff in the video was expensive brand food; Kinder, Müller, Knorr, Nadler..
and also it's just not true that Aldi and Lidl sell bad quality stuff, often it's the same product you get at an expensive store minus the brand..

- Ligersinkenya, on 03/27/2008, -0/+7Bet it tasted better than that hamburger.
- ExRe, on 03/27/2008, -4/+1If you looked a little you could find a list 10x as long as anywhere else with stuff like this in the US.
- ttfadia, on 03/27/2008, -2/+12I mean, did you really expect a perfectly stacked cheeseburger when you pulled it out of a box?
- Myztry, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2The Australian Trade Practices Act requires goods to be as described and/or as per sample. There's also laws against false or misleading advertising.
Not even quite sure why we have them. They're not policed.
Doesn't stop McDonald's/Hungry jacks/KFC, etc from serving food that bares hardly a fleeting resemblance to the sample product.

- imacmike, on 03/27/2008, -3/+33Well, you really oughta prepare the food first. Of course instant noodles don't look apatizing when there still in a frozen noodle-block.
- triskele, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2True, but a chop-steak shouldn't end up looking like runny taco bell meat.
- npcabral, on 03/27/2008, -7/+79People need to learn how to cook for themselves.... Lazy bastards. You can digg me down for this.... but when you look in the mirror and see droopy skin and saggy man *****..... think about what you had for breakfast...or second breakfast...or elevansies. People need to help themselves. Control what you eat by making it yourself.

- ExRe, on 03/27/2008, -4/+1You'd probably have to be a millionaire and eat something constantly while awake to get like that.
- KnytFyre, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3Nope, you can get that way by eating the wrong kinds of stuff that you make yourself.
- adrianmonk, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Have you ever made mashed potatoes? Now, have you ever made mashed potatoes with butter and with heavy whipping cream instead of milk? I assure there is no comparison between the two variations, except that one has about a billion calories.

- anyone4apint, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6Whilst it is intresting, it does not take a genious to work out that we are very rarly sold the same thing as what the packaging shows - this is sadly how marketing works. Many fast food chains model their food in clay and have a profesional artist paint the creation so that they can then photograph it and make it look exceptionally appealing when it comes to advertising the products. In those instances I am glad that I dont get a lump of clay when I order burger and fries!
- BufordT, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1The only one who doesn't is Hardees (Carl's Jr), they show you the actual sloppy ***** you get at the restaurant. When I watch their commercials of various burgers with some kind of slop topping dripping onto the table, or some indigent chowing down a burger spilling half of it on his shirt, I can just feel my gut wrenching and picture myself on the *****.
- T3CHNO, on 03/27/2008, -2/+66American fast food version:
http://www.thewvsr.com/adsvsreality.htm- DavidtheDuke, on 03/27/2008, -3/+3the whopper looks kind of good, actually............
- d0onut, on 03/27/2008, -2/+8There's almost nothing wrong with a few of them...
- ExRe, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6Nothing wrong with them being messy, thats what you get when somebody can make you a burger for $1.
I have a major problem when the bastards show a picture of a sandwich with meat 2x as high as the bun, and then you get it and there is next to no meat and 95% bun. Fast food FTL.- PlasmaWhore, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ug75diEyiA0

- MaxPayne3476, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Damn, I didn't realize our food was so close! :) That Nacho Bell Grande is weak sauce though. The one around me piles it high. And if you've never had a KFC Famous Bowl, you've never lived. Period.
- emerrill, on 03/27/2008, -0/+3They all look fine to me. Many of them are rushed together, because that is the reality of fast food. Not to mention the lighting and background of the 'real' shots make them look less appetizing.
In the US we have laws that basically state that when making pictures of food for advertisement purposes, the food itself has to be the same (ingredients, processing, etc), but they can spend all the time they want trying to make it look right. - shyla, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1at least none of these are surrounded in a pink swamp.

- EvilFerret, on 03/27/2008, -1/+13Something shady going on here. Everyone knows the food isn't going to look like the box art..... but it should never look THAT bad. What the hell was up with that one that looked like it was supposed to be cottage cheese and ended up being some kind of pudding?
- westyvw, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2Um wasnt it pudding? Like Rice Pudding?
- Ikulus, on 03/27/2008, -0/+2What an exaggeration. There was nothing THAT BAD OMGOMGOMGOMG about any of the products.
Well except maybe the pink stuff.
The "cottage cheese" was rice pudding. And when they opened the package it looked like *gasp* pudding. So you couldn't see each individual grain, big deal.

- noseeme, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6What the ***** is with people always saying McDonalds makes them feel sick and have diarrhea? I must have a colon of steel or something.
What did you eat, anyway? I would like to try and replicate this (for some reason, I dunno why). - ExRe, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Oh really?
If that happens when you eat it then why the ***** did you buy it? Either BS or you are just a dumbass (or both). - StickWST, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1God, when I eat McDonald's I feel nauseated almost immediately after. Tastes good though!
- bbardlbradd, on 03/27/2008, -1/+1Taco Bell always does that to me... and the lettuce comes out whole.
- GawtMilk, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1I almost always have two double cheeseburgers, one large coke, one large fries from McDonalds. I am 6'3", 178 pounds, and I never feel sick afterwards.
Honestly. It's about calories in, calories out. Burn the calories, you'll be fine. If you're short, don't eat as much.
I wish "Supersize Me" never aired so I could still get a supersize coke, seriously, what a *****. Waah, I can't eat an entire supersize meal, don't offer it anymore!
*****.

- panpizza15, on 03/27/2008, -4/+1The Burger part reminds me of that scene in Falling Down where they guy gets angry for his burger not looking like the ad for it. I think I'll go out to LA and blow up a high way.
- mGARANDEUR1, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6I could really go for a canned hamburger right now.
- whoa2000, on 03/27/2008, -0/+4Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't most food ads/package-pictures just really intricate wax models?
- SpartanComplex, on 03/27/2008, -1/+2In America it has to be real food. If you are advertising Breakfast sausage, you must have real breakfast sausage in the picture, the eggs and potatoes next to it may be fake however since they are considered garnishes. Additionally, you can use various techniques to make the breakfast sausage look better. I believe it would count as garnishing as well for the most part.
- almonds646, on 09/11/2008, -0/+1It would really help his case if he compared two prepared foods, rather than one prepared the other right out of the box frozen.
- Ikulus, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1I had the same thought with the pasta and meat dish. But then I thought, maybe that _was_ the cooked version.

- Ikulus, on 03/27/2008, -0/+1Yeah a lot of those are quite close to the picture. So I'm not sure what the point of this is.
