Granted half the food looks and smells like something you couldn't force-feed a starving pig with, but when you're hungry, nothing hits the spot better than that. Also mind you, there's the stuff the locals eat and the stuff they give to tourists. "Authentic" food means over priced ***** we couldn't sell yesterday. Wait until dinner time and follow a crowd of locals into and eating establishment, order what they order and you'd be surprised.

      Not even quite sure why we have them. They're not policed.
      Doesn't stop McDonald's/Hungry jacks/KFC, etc from serving food that bares hardly a fleeting resemblance to the sample product.

  • anyone4apint, on 03/27/2008, -0/+6Whilst it is intresting, it does not take a genious to work out that we are very rarly sold the same thing as what the packaging shows - this is sadly how marketing works. Many fast food chains model their food in clay and have a profesional artist paint the creation so that they can then photograph it and make it look exceptionally appealing when it comes to advertising the products. In those instances I am glad that I dont get a lump of clay when I order burger and fries!

When I watch their commercials of various burgers with some kind of slop topping dripping onto the table, or some indigent chowing down a burger spilling half of it on his shirt, I can just feel my gut wrenching and picture myself on the *****.

      In the US we have laws that basically state that when making pictures of food for advertisement purposes, the food itself has to be the same (ingredients, processing, etc), but they can spend all the time they want trying to make it look right.

      The "cottage cheese" was rice pudding. And when they opened the package it looked like *gasp* pudding. So you couldn't see each individual grain, big deal.

If you are advertising Breakfast sausage, you must have real breakfast sausage in the picture, the eggs and potatoes next to it may be fake however since they are considered garnishes. Additionally, you can use various techniques to make the breakfast sausage look better. I believe it would count as garnishing as well for the most part.
