Catching Up With Jake Brown
expn.go.com — For most of the sporting world, professional vert skateboarder Jake Brown will always be known as the guy that almost died skating the Mega Ramp at the 2007 X Games. His spectacular slam was broadcast and re-broadcast for days following. Within hours of the fall, a few hundred thousand people had viewed the carnage on YouTube.

Not as bad as Jake's, but he skated the whole thing and came in second, was first till the very end.. And had another pretty damn good wipe out.

- Mosheiken, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1Falls over 40 feet and then walks off?!? This guy is tough
- jayobear, on 08/02/2008, -4/+5"For most of the sporting world, professional vert skateboarder Jake Brown will always be known as the guy that almost died skating the Mega Ramp at the 2007 X Games"
For the rest of us, he's no one.- crackron, on 08/02/2008, -1/+2In the digg community he was jayobear, to the rest of the world he was just another no name prick
- Dojjah, on 08/02/2008, -0/+5Funny how the article starts out with the question "Are you sick of talking about almost dying on the Mega Ramp?" and is followed by about 20 follow-up questions on the topic.
- PorchSong, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1I swear that fall still gets me. I hate when I have dreams where I am riding my mountain bike and go off the side of a cliff or a jump launches me too far up. But actually watching a guy go through this is stunning. Watching it is like having my dream all over again (I just get lucky and wake up). What must have been going through his head? He is up there and has to be thinking "I am so F*cked."
Thank God he fell just right and survived with relatively few injuries. I remember seeing a study once that you have a 50% chance of surviving a fall from 20 feet onto a hard surface--50%. He fell somewhere near 40ft plus. For him to attack that Mega Ramp again is amazing. He manned up well.
Kuddos Jake.- DephexTwin, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1You might want to read the article, where he says what was going through his head at the time.
- JakeW, on 08/02/2008, -2/+4And he has a good name
Now watch, as I get dug downnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn - michaelwong38, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1yeah i remember that from last year, it was just crazy, all the best
- rowjimmy, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1is that a typo, or is he really only 4 ft tall?
- EvilJelloMan, on 08/02/2008, -0/+3It blows my mind that they are still doing this event. There is potential for a 40 foot fall almost every time someone goes up that ramp, and that is not some ***** you usually walk away from. When ESPN did rock climbing at the x games years ago, the wall was around the 40 foot mark, and those dudes had ropes for good reason.
- r0nin, on 08/02/2008, -0/+2dug down, the person interviewing jake obviously has no experience interviewing skateboarders, and the interview seems quite childish, i guess thats what you get for leaving a branch of espn to conduct interviews with "extreme" sports athletes. the first question was "Are you sick of talking about almost dying on the Mega Ramp?" and then right after jake says "kinda" and then he proceeds to say through out the interview "YOU ALMOST DIED." quite annoying read an actual article from a respectable site like skateboarding.com
- WhoDoneIt, on 08/02/2008, -0/+3The interview was more painful than his fall it seems. I felt uncomfortable for Jake having to answer those questions. This has got to be one of the worse interviews I've read.
- theadvinci, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1Ouch!!! Just ouch...
- icantreed, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1I would have died
- Qtip42, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1not only were the questions stupid but the video doesn't even load. Great job there espn, stick to youtube.
- gumhucker, on 08/02/2008, -0/+1This interview is EXTREMEly annoying. Jake seems like a cool dude, but the guy interviewing is a dick.
