- themastersb, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I've gone racing through ice caves like that before....... in video games.
- jtb4, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6what the ***** did you just say?

- DevinOlsen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6None that I saw initially, but I didn't dare to venture very deep. Perhaps tonight.
- DevinOlsen, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4haahah... oh man, you seriously just made my day with the last part of your comment...
It has been a while since I truly 'lol'd'... haha... Thanks - JoshuaH, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Would it? I would have never thought that...Thanks.
- OwdenBowden, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2All I can think of is getting a few kegs in there....
- Gir53457, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Poor fool can't find the *****.
- alamandrax, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That immediately reminded me of Tomb Raider II. The part where Lara Croft is traversing Tibet on the snow mobile and encounters the mountain lions in the caves. ahhh... good times.
- screensnot, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I found some ice caves on Lake Superior once. My 3 friends and I are likely the only people to have ever seen them, as they were only there for a few months, and they were very well hidden.
They are nowhere near the size of these, but still very cool (no pun intended).
I signed up for Flickr just to put these up for you to see, so enjoy.
This link takes you to one of the better pics. If it interests you, you should start at the beginning of the set and read my comments. The pics really don't do it justice (they are pretty amateurish), and the comments help, I think.

I mean it's cool that they create these walkways in order for the general public to see this magnificent cave but it really destroys the fun of actual spelunking.
One day everyone should go into a cave that's been mostly untouched. One without the tourists trap atmosphere.
It's something you'll never....EVER....forget. - feinest, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I read this at first as "The Worlds Largest Ice Cream Caves"
- Grumps, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Few more expedition and development, it will soon turn into a large pool of water.
- IBadassI, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The first picture reminds me of a part of Halo 2 multiplayer map, you know the level that has ice and has two bases at two ends and a couple of bridges in the middle. the picture looks like the secret tunnel that's used to get into one of the bases.. Ah forget it, you probably won't know what I'm talking about unless i give the level its correct name, which i have forgotten :( but it did make me think Cool! when I saw the first picture.
- bwanac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Its like playing Zelda!
- NHK4real, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1How gorgeous. It reminds me of the ice caves in the Zelda games...
- briarmoss, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1one word: Sledding!!!!
- saggygrandma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1imagine that tunnel being a roller coaster!
- illt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i've been to that exact cave before. The guide just holds a huge ass roll of magnesium, and lights a little bit at a time while you walk. It's completely pitch black in there.
Once you exit, there is a quaint little place that sells hot chocolate to warm you up - mightysequoia, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Seriously, though... Think of the logistics of running that place, preservation-wise. Sure the walkways mar the natural beauty, but it keeps a smaller, more intrepid group from coming through in spike boots. And during the high tourist season (whenever that may be) there's temperature to be worried about. Some pictures showed people filing through almost back to back. How do you limit the effects of body heat when you have hundreds, maybe thousands of 98.6 degree packages flowing through the cave every day. Ugh, what a nightmare...
- fbombs, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3From this day forward, I'm riding a bicycle to work.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Is this where they filmed those scenes from Fight Club? I don't see any giant talking penguins.
- 2Deluxe, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Why did you have to bring me into it?
:'( - flipper5311, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i have been there and it was a very fascinating journey. i would recommend every who goes to Austria (or to be precise, Salzburg region) to visit this Eisriesenwelt. It opens only in summer (unless you can climb the mountain in winter). There are 2 options to climb up until a spot where you must go with your own foot. First option is using the cable car, but i myself prefer the second option, climbing up all the way using your own foot. I just can't forget the very exciting experience visiting this ice cave.
- jtb4, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1These pictures were awesome, Thanks!!
- Moloth, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1In Kublai Khan, a stately pleasure dome did decree....
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2everyone check out that ice hole
- quakerorts, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Cool! :~)
- vtrac, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I've been in these caves. They're really cool (literally). The guide said they're actually filling up with ice, maybe due to ice melting from higher altitudes and coming into the caves then freezing, if I remember correctly.
- chess10, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I was just at some ice caves in the Dachstein region of Austria and they were absolutely amazing. It was weird to go from around 85 outside to 29-30 degrees inside. It was asked if climate change has effected the ice caves, and the guide said that there weren't any signs. It is still growing at its usual rate.
- gramercy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0I imagine they don't put salt down on those walkways
- danthemayun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0slippery when wet
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0looks like marble
- Haccumchu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Actually been there...It was awesome!
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0looks like the inside of my freezer...
- ForebodenOdin, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1Oh, I see what you did there...it's because she's sexually promiscuous. heh
- jtb4, on 10/10/2007, -2/+1That was funny, but Ann Coulter is pretty awesome. Lately she has been railing on Bush. Plus any hot well-paid lawyer debating ass writer and spokesperson TV and radio personality who likes the Grateful Dead is pretty much boss in my world.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -4/+3Buried for AOL.
- ButtonMonkey, on 10/10/2007, -3/+0I didn't see Ann Coulter's vagina on the list.
- AriaStar, on 10/10/2007, -5/+2It would suck to be underneath one of those icicles when they fall.
