- chettler, on 06/06/2009, -1/+99They have a vehicle designed to withstand a low end tornado like this one.
http://www3.allaroundphilly.com/blogs/dailylocal/b ... - EverybodyPanic, on 06/07/2009, -7/+92It's sad when American citizens can't even expect to drive safely on the roads without being chased by tornados. The U.S. military should stop secretly tempering with the weather.
- Smegzor, on 06/07/2009, -4/+87LOL I thought it said video inside a tomato.
- mikeruiz7, on 06/07/2009, -1/+71At what point were they inside the tornado?
- abrasion, on 06/07/2009, -8/+74I feel it is my duty to post this.

- crackerjack20, on 06/07/2009, -0/+43As they say in "Twister": What's it like in the middle of a tornado? It's windy.
I was in a tornado about that size when i was a kid. My family was on vacation in Kentucky and we were driving through a thunderstorm when we saw a funnel cloud coming for us. My dad pulled our Suburban over to the side of the road and put the transmission in park and put the parking break on. Within a few seconds it got really dark and loud, pretty much like when you go trough one of those automatic touchless carwashes, except that the vehicle was getting pushed around too. It lasted about 10 seconds, and when it cleared, there were tree branches and other debris all around us, and the Suburban was about 10 feet from where we had stopped. The best part was about a mile down the road when we stopped at a little gas station. They had lost their power because of all the downed lines, so the owner gave us as much ice cream as we wanted cause he figured it would all melt anyway before the power would get turned on. So it was an awesome day: free ice cream and experiencing the inside of a tornado. I later became a storm spotter/chaser but haven't been close to another one since then. - SEN5241, on 06/07/2009, -3/+43There's no place like home.
There's no place like home. - borez, on 06/07/2009, -1/+37Well that looks safe.
/In a cardboard box and duct tape kind of way. - TheSuperunknown, on 06/07/2009, -3/+37They were inside. Here's the thing though: Once you're in, there's nothing to see but a bunch of dirt flying around.
- Dylson, on 06/07/2009, -1/+34THAT would be AWESOME!
- IrvineKinneas50, on 06/07/2009, -15/+45Buried for not ever being inside a tornado.

JO = Jack Off (masterbate) - DemDude, on 06/07/2009, -0/+23You mean during the time when you couldn't see ***** except an antenna and some light flying around?
- Myztry, on 06/07/2009, -1/+24We don't get tornado's as such in Australia. Instead we tend to get 'whirly winds' which are much smaller.
Anyway, as a child (at school) one formed in the yard near an embankment. Being a rather adventurous kid I chose to run straight into to see what it was like. It was stronger than I expected and although I was in no danger of being lifted, I was sandblasted by the coarse gravel on the yard.
/pointless reminiscing. - inactive, on 06/07/2009, -1/+23wake up and open your eyes, sheeple!

http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/storm-chasers/vehicle- ... - teamgwho, on 06/07/2009, -0/+8I think it's the same cow...
- mikeruiz7, on 06/07/2009, -0/+8I think he was hoping the tornado would "lift". Maybe he didn't want it to touch them directly, or possibly it just would have made for a cool shot.
- centran, on 06/07/2009, -0/+7Well that makes what they did a little bit more sane but they still have the problem that the Josh Wurman/Sean Casey team have.
That team has the TIV which can go into a pretty strong tornado but they have no way of knowing how strong the tornado is. Even a small looking tornado can have devastating winds. That is why the TIV relies on the DOW to provide wind speeds.
The TornadoVideos.net crew had no way of knowing how strong that tornado actually was. They are risking their lives on guesses. - Linake, on 06/07/2009, -0/+7If any consumer vehicle can handle the inside of a funnel cloud, it's a Chevy Suburban!
The one my dad had when I was a kid was like a tank... my family spent a month one summer traveling across the US in it, pulling a camper trailer as well. Ahhh, fond memories of that truck! :) It'd be a much more expensive roadtrip now, I'd imagine...
Thanks for reminding me of it! - brad3378, on 06/07/2009, -0/+7Does anybody know why one of the voices was shouting "Lift Up" repeatedly?
Was he hoping to go for a ride? - zacattac50, on 06/07/2009, -0/+7that's what i call a sticky situation
- NeddieSeagoon, on 06/07/2009, -0/+7I think he meant "That's an entertaining shot of the horizon, but if you LIFT UP the camera we might actually see the thing we came here to film."

- broncfan23, on 06/07/2009, -0/+6That obviously has to be an F1 or F2. Otherwise they would have been picked up and thrown across the street.
