- DaleoftheUK, on 10/10/2007, -3/+31Oh, I thought you meant the colour green.
- TheCount, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9I hate lists like this. How many of those cars will an average person have a chance at owning? If you have to pay $500,000 for a "green" car, that sort of defeats the purpose doesn't it?
I mean that's like saying, "Hey, if you give us your entire paycheck for the next 15 years, we can bring the Dodo back from extinction."
I'm actually doing a thesis on green cars and alternate fuels right now, so this i utterly ridiculous when you start to actually research the facts involved. - Nev9, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Anything in 'British Racing Green' is cool, such as a Jaguar or an Aston Martin
- Kamill85, on 10/10/2007, -2/+7I like this one: http://filthyskies.files.wordpress.com/2007/03/lamborghini_murcielago_green.jpg
- aeiou, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6he he... yeah.... that would be aston martin DB9 hands down.
- l33tsauce, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4lol funny how all of these celebrities drive around in Hybrids saying all of these save the planet BS. Then they turn around and get on their fuel guzzling private jet to go from city to city.
- Lennalf, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I also thought of the color green, and also misread "sexiest" as "sexist," which seemed very intriguing. Top 10 sexist green-colored cars...
- Rikushix, on 10/10/2007, -4/+7I thought it was actually about cars painted green :) I'm dumb.
- jason469, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3WTF? I like helping out mother earth, but WTF is up with the vegan-hippie-tree hugging-PETA articles on the front page?
- bobcrotch, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Is it me or is every treehugger article hitting the front page this afternoon?
- Reaperducer, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4geez. FOUR treehugger.com spams on the front page of Digg all at once. This place is going downhill.
Bured all FOUR as the spam they are. - gcnaddict, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4http://www.teslamotors.com/design/exterior_colors.php
Sexy, as stated in the article. Why? Because it looks like this car:
http://www.exoticcarsite.com/pictures/Cars/lotus/type_72/lotus_elise_type_72-1.jpg
The Elise and the Tesla just ooze pure racing adrenaline. It's like when you see a hot woman with all the right curves. - drm7, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2That's because the Tesla is built in a Lotus factory, on an Elise body.
- slythfox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+23 wheel cars = people like Mr. Bean bumping them over.
- jeriqo, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1For those wondering, the car showed in the picture is a Citroën C-Metisse.
http://www.citroen.com/CWW/fr-FR/CONCEPTCARS/CMETISSE/Pictures/ - satanatnmtedu, on 10/10/2007, -5/+635 mpg is green?! A single seater that is completely impractical?! Trumpeting sports cars as being green?!
Can treehugger get any more lame or inaccurate? Buried. - UrbanVoyeur, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Correction: Tesla Motors is in California, US, not UK. (though the Lotus designed Elan-based body is in fact a UK product)
- euphemizeme, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3http://www.performance2and4.co.uk/img/930_1opt.jpg
I'll take that one instead. - BufordT, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1So is it a top 10 list or a top 5 list?
- slythfox, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah. The Tesla Roadster is my dream car.
- iVision, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Number one should be the Koenigsegg CCXR. Fastest green car in the world! Can max out just around 250 mph
- IllBeBack, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3Hmmm, a list of cars that aren't really "green" and are extremely expensive. What good is that?
- krnldmp, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What you don't seem to understand is for that kind of mileage some of these cars will blow the freaking hub caps off of what most people are driving to get it.
- in2deep, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They are pretty cool....and sexy!
- PaulOwen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1"Green cars are officially sexy."
I used to have a green Vauxhall Chevette. It was very green, but not that sexy. It actually epitomized small, ugly and plodding. - rkiga, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Yeah these cars will either never see production or are just too expensive to matter. Why not include the Ariel Atom
http://auto.howstuffworks.com/ariel-atom.htm it only gets 22mpg, but considering that it costs $35-50k base, that's a whole lot of money not going into a polluting production process. Oh yeah and it goes 0-60 in under 3 seconds, is available now, and is street legal in a few states in the US, not to mention parts of canada and europe. Jay Leno has been seen driving his around LA and even if you're not Leno, you can still buy one today to drive around a closed track in any state in the US.
They should made a list like "10 green cars that will change the car industry" like the reportedly $30K Toyota FT-HS confirmed for 2009 *crosses fingers* http://www.motortrend.com/future/concept_cars/112_0702_toyota_fths/ - copyworld, on 01/21/2008, -0/+1Pictures would be great
More articles about green cars http://www.220kg.com/blogs/greencars - Markpdotcom, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Yay for the most obvious post ever!
- davidrools, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1i'm surprised the Carver didn't make it on that list:
http://www.carver-worldwide.com/Home/Index.asp?nc=1 - Clp727, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I agree with you IllBeBack and dugg you up 1. It appears that most of the comments on the tree hugger website are similar in your thought.
- grumpyrain, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I agree more effort needs to be put into family sized cars, but you need to understand two things. Firstly the nature of electric motors mean you have an amazing torque and power curve that ICEs can only dream of. Secondly, the batteries are still incredibly expensive. This means that to get any sort of range, the vehicle has to be light and aerodynamic, not necessarily practical for family cars.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1They forgot the Smart Roadster:
http://arabam.e-kolay.net/fuar/2002/paris/mmc_smart_roadster_xx.jpg
Mine gets close to 50mpg. - jakash, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1how the ***** can a ***** car be sexy!? im not even going to read this article
- CptBuck, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1yeah, buried for not including the chevy volt...
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Only gay people drive hybrids
- mrsatan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Dugg down for not having the biodiesel Koenigsegg. It is the fastest production car and is environmentally friendly
- neodorian, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1How are they spams? They are original articles.
- crackedplastic, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1No they aren't - they are all regurgitations of other articles. Treehugger very rarely contains any actual original content.
- pazolozap, on 03/14/2008, -0/+0More people should learn about this. Electric car technology is really becoming impressive, like the new Zap EV that does 0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds (source: zapworld.com) Electric is looking more and more like the way to go.
- l33tsauce, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0this is the world sexiest green car.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=RZiNc8YQOTA
ohh my bad, I was thinking about some other kinda green. - rholland356, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0If you sink a huge amount of money into one car, you won't have much left over to spend, and therefore you reduce consumption, which is the ultimate goal of the treehugger movement.
- 10goto10, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1The guy in the Eco One makes me never wanna have one.
- rholland356, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0Thank you. After seeing that car, the autos listed in the story pale in comparison. Well, that is, the autos in the story that really exist and can be purchased...
Treehugger is so lame. Articles promoting consumption of sports cars just fly in the face of frugality and conservation. - TheHamBeast, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0It's clear from reading this list that the writer has zero technical knowledge. The inclusion of the Audi R10 TDI as a green car is laughable. Most of these other ones are prototypes which probably get all of their claims from test performed under very favorable conditions.
- krnldmp, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Recognition and sales so they can afford to sell you one that's close enough for cigar.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0I saw a 6 Wheels Sport Car
http://www.linkinn.com/_New_6_Wheels_Sport_Car_Have_You_Ever_Seen_Before-fabric - inactive, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0USELESS WITH OUT PICS!!! COME ON!
- jbmercha, on 10/10/2007, -1/+0Anyone else expecting cars that are painted green?
- ChazHollywood, on 10/10/2007, -2/+0Here here.
- hexx54, on 10/10/2007, -6/+4dugg for the awesome looking Audi
