- CoffeeNut, on 01/08/2008, -1/+11"...generating over 500,000 KWh of environmentally friendly energy."
That's a nonsensical statement. Does it mean 500,000KWh daily, annually, over its entire lifetime? KWh is a unit of energy, not a rate. This is like saying a well produces 100 barrels of oil as opposed to 100 barrels of oil per week. - pw378, on 01/09/2008, -0/+4Sorry, but I can't digg a 'solar banana' as the coolest solar building (not to mention it is only a cradle for panels, not a building). I'd vote for this place - http://www.google.com/corporate/solarpanels/home
In addition the Googleplex has generated over 620,000KWh in just 6 months, well over twice what the 'solar banana' is projected to produce.
Google, as always, FTW. - inactive, on 01/08/2008, -0/+4Looks like a samurai sword case, but if we are going to use solar energy; this is a pretty neat design and shows we can be creative and integrate solar heat panels into landscapes and cities in a way that they will satisfy some of our energy needs, yet be unintrusive.
- Xerces, on 01/08/2008, -0/+4We should also maybe start creating some real arks, in case we are too late.
- unre4l, on 01/09/2008, -0/+4That's where God keeps his mustache
- tensaibaka, on 01/08/2008, -0/+3Here's the official homepage link in English:

Too bad it's located out in the middle of nowhere in Gifu Prefecture, otherwise I might go to see it myself. - declawedpaw, on 01/08/2008, -1/+4I wonder how much energy was expended in its design, fabrication, materials, and construction.
- craftyshrew, on 01/08/2008, -2/+5That's as close as Alex and Kevin will get to a field of diamond penises...

- Harbinger67, on 01/08/2008, -0/+2We're gonna need more animals.

- fiestycrumbler, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1whats with that drawing is it a view from the top? or does that thing rotate
- pw378, on 01/09/2008, -0/+1Unintrusive? That is the last word to describe this... neat, yes, cool, sure... but certainly not unintrusive.
Also the description is inaccurate as its not a building, its just a cradle for holding the solar panels. - orca94, on 01/08/2008, -0/+1You can see if off the side of the Shinkansen tracks from Kyoto to Tokyo. I remember seeing it but I had no idea what it was then.
- lordmetroid, on 01/08/2008, -1/+2That is the evil maliced way of Rick Rolling someone, don't do that!

- puncikam, on 01/09/2008, -1/+1now if we can bring those creative ideas to the US we'd be set!
- toyotaboy, on 01/09/2008, -1/+1yea.. pretty easy when your one of the manufacturers of solar panels. I'm sure if I owned a tire company I could stack several thousand tires around poles and make my entrance look real snazzy too.
- justraw, on 01/09/2008, -0/+0This looks like a fun place to ride a skateboard
