- stonebear, on 03/20/2008, -0/+8With trees like this, their own weight is their worst enemy. I remember another magnificent old live oak at the Huntington memorial gardens in California. Arborists had lovingly supported the spreading branches with steel supports and cables as it grew over the years. Finally it got big and heavy enough that a good storm brought the whole affair down anyway. Nothing lasts forever; enjoy things while you may.
- artofwar420, on 03/20/2008, -0/+1Or they could have pruned it down, when is was easier.

- joel8x, on 03/20/2008, -0/+11I wonder if Mark posted this on that site or if they are one of those flickr stealing sites. Here is his actual Flickr post: http://flickr.com/photos/markreqs/2159014593/in/se ...
It would be strange of him to promote that ad driven site instead of his own Flickr stream. I'll email him just in case.
FYI, I also have a set of Angel Oak on Flickr here: http://flickr.com/photos/8x7/sets/7215760323061521 ...- joel8x, on 03/20/2008, -1/+1Oops - digg botched my link - flickr.com/photos/8x7/sets/72157603230615212/
Also, I check his copyright and it is not CC, so this may be a case of thievery. - joel8x, on 03/20/2008, -1/+2Mark emailed me back, and the site that this post is linked to has indeed illegally posted his work. That really sucks.
