- norman619, on 03/14/2008, -1/+12Sorry but Global Warming is a reality. A truth which has been verified scientifically by BOTH sides of the Human Caused Global Warming debate. The climate IS changing as it always does. The debate boils down to whether or not WE can do anything to stop or slow it down at all. Since there are professional climate scientists on both sides of the debate it stands to reason we do not have enough definitive data which says one way or the other. the should be left tot he scientists. The politicians and environmental action groups should both keep the hell out of it. All they do is misrepresent and/or corrupt the data.
- krekc, on 03/14/2008, -0/+7Buried, sorry but I dont want to have to fight through a welcome screen, then read a column 1" wide and on a page where the ads take up way more space then the actual article, then keep hitting 'next page, after 'next page'.
- nextbigthang, on 03/14/2008, -2/+8Phuket....hahahahahahah
- marc54, on 03/14/2008, -0/+6Buried for linking to forbes.com.
- purag66, on 05/13/2009, -0/+3"Life" is not in danger. But thousands of refugees, falling water tables, and increasing shortages of freshwater are a genuine concern.
- pintomp3, on 03/14/2008, -1/+3the vast majority of climatologists do think humans are the main cause. there are many scientists and economists on the other side who claim otherwise, but they are in the minority. you were also able to find a few doctors who didn't think cigarettes caused cancer. you can still find scientists who don't believe in evolution. that doesn't mean the issue is "controversial" or unsettled, it just means there are people who won't accept it because of ideological or financial reasons. i agree that politicians shouldn't manipulate the finding, but the scientists can't effect the change on their own. they just find the data and do the research. right now the main politicians trying to corrupt the data are the ones in the white house trying to muzzle the findings of groups like nasa.

Always frantically searching for a way to keep things the same. Most people just seem to have trouble grasping the fact that life is change.
- pintomp3, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2acknowledging the effect you have on your surroundings is self-hate?
- Spuy767, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2In a strange twist of fate, you turned out to be right, we will be fin.
- pintomp3, on 03/14/2008, -0/+2i wasn't sure if he meant we'll be finished or we'll need fins.
- MidnightRealism, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Good to see some focus on water pollution and overfishing, two very real problems that are too often pushed to the side in favor of a focus on climate change by itself.
- peedeeramone, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1uhh... what about the coast of Louisiana? with all the levees up the Mississippi can't keep depositing soot when it floods.
Seriously, have you seen the projections? in 200 years Baton Rouge will be a coastal city. thats just F*cked up - noahhoward, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Yes, technically, but well placed anyway.
- PlasticMonki, on 03/14/2008, -1/+2Beat me to it :)
- SuperOmegaSlack, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Jersey Shore?
- brjndr, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1We should federally fund protection measures for the Jersery shore. All the pop'd collar idiots are there in the summer, which means they leave the rest of us alone for awhile.
- noahhoward, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Depends on how you look at it. I can cry and worry about the inevitable but it won't make it suck any less.
- pintomp3, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1right, and so is the link between cigarettes and cancer.
- norman619, on 03/14/2008, -1/+2Well bitching appears to be one of the things our species does very well. We bitch when we have it good and we bitch when we have it bad.
- kingcam, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1What about the Maldives, possibly the most beautiful archipelago in the world, at least until it gets submerged; the highest point in the entire island chain is only 1.8m above sea level.
- pintomp3, on 03/14/2008, -1/+2the planet will adapt, by killing off a bunch of it's biggest polluters. humans.
- Spuy767, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1Indeed. Reminds me of Every Ars Technica Review or comparo ever.
- kmjmu, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1i really think the outer banks in north carolina should be on that list
- Dezelon, on 03/14/2008, -0/+1wait when ice melts in my glass, it makes my water overflow? ***** on rising sea levels.
- norman619, on 03/14/2008, -1/+1How is that self-hate working out for you?

http://www.saudiy.net - norman619, on 03/14/2008, -2/+2Not ***** the climate has gone through some major changes in the past and life has adapted to it just fine. We will see more of the same. the only constant in the universe is change. nothing stays the same it only appears that way to us since we have such short lifespans.
- inactive, on 03/14/2008, -1/+1anyone else think it would be just fine if phuket went away? that's like the sex trafficking capitol of the world.
- inactive, on 03/17/2008, -0/+0Rising sea levels come from the ice that melts on land running in to the sea.

We, the undersigned, call on the Governments of the world to use some common sense when distributing Energy subsidies.
Why must the taxpayer subsidise the largest cause of man-made Global Warming(Fossil Fuel electricity generation) whilst alternative energy solutions such as Solar Thermal are forced to struggle?
Why must the consumer be asked to pay extra for "Green" Energy when his/her taxes are subsidising the very antithesis?
We, the undersigned, are not impressed with such hypocrisy.

*pass it on!* - noahhoward, on 03/14/2008, -3/+2Most humans seem to be absolutely ***** when it comes to accepting change. A coastline is always changing it's not in any danger from climate change at all. The pollutions ***** does need to stop thought, I've never understood how someone could dump crap on such beatiful environments.
- Spuy767, on 03/14/2008, -4/+2None of these coastlines are as endangered as the piss ring around my toilet. As soon as I get home that ***** will be swept away.
- signalwarfare, on 03/14/2008, -4/+0I know it's pronounced foo-ket but I still hear "***** it" in my head whenever i read it.
- kuppoppo, on 03/14/2008, -6/+0Ooh, endangered coastlines (jerk off motion)
