- smokyjoewood12, on 08/20/2008, -0/+13um... #4 under Green and Yellow is definitely just a gross lake.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -2/+12beautiful...shame I'm colorblind :(
- taketheleap, on 08/20/2008, -1/+11now all i need is $1 million to put a cottage on one of them.
- divebabe, on 08/19/2008, -0/+10The first pic on the post freakin' rocks. Beats the image on this page hands down!
- Fishnchipsman, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6one of them looks like a pond
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+6definitely heaven like!
- SkippyDoorknob, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5Thanks for the translation. I'm not sure I would have figured that out.
- Frozo, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5Lens Filters and Photoshop. Im sure they are amazing to see in person, but many of these have definitely been enhanced.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -1/+6Wow, so many beautiful places to pump our sewage into..
- compgeek, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5Dugg for Lake Tahoe
one of the nicest lakes I've ever been to - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5especially those purple ones
- ACalcutt, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5I was looking for the first one and i found this
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/f/fd ... - MikeonTV, on 08/20/2008, -0/+5Hmm I wonder if the blogger did that intentionally!
- ZackScott, on 08/20/2008, -2/+6I've often wondered if any lakes are of colors we can't really see, like in the infrared or ultraviolet range. I wonder which ones are which, and what they would look like to people if we could indeed see those ranges. It makes me feel small that we can only see a certain portion of the light spectrum, but I am thankful for all that I can see. My grandfather (rest his peace) could not see green or red very well, and he even wore glasses. He was a lakesman too I would say. So he could see blue. But man, if he ever went to some of these lakes, they would appear colorless to him. Much like infrared or ultraviolet lakes would appear to us.
- inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+4Great picture of Lake Michigan in the mix.
- Messingerzt, on 08/20/2008, -0/+4is it just me or do some of the last ones on the lists look like nasty ponds?
- fritzek, on 08/20/2008, -1/+5What? None of Plitvicka lakes? http://www.widerange.org/images/large/plitvicka.jp ...
- mcphatty, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3@ MisterEX
Good eye! I didn't even notice that before I read your comment - sathishcj, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3No mention of Crater Lake?
Or even Mono Lake?
Those to are one of my top favorites. - whitelights, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3Dugg for the wonderful Lake Michigan.
- sheagunther42, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3I like the breakdown by color.
- ACalcutt, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3its still a beautiful picture. I think it looked better after i resized it to my laptop resolution though (1400x900)
- gu0d, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3It's a shame that its not all on one page or even just a bit smaller.
Dugg anyways. - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3twss
- groverblue, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3A few of them look like ponds.
- KevinWhite, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3@ MisterEX
I've been there, and the photo may have been enhanced.....but that is pretty much exactly what you see with your eyes. - icexe, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3Nice pics but the title is a bit naive. Almost any lake can be just as colorful given the right combination of weather, season and time of day.
- Liembo, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3For a variety of colors from yellow/green to blue, Spotted Lake in British Columbia is a unique sight:

Some extremely high mineral content and evaporation leads to their coloration. - tvcity, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3Title should be "25 Colorful Pictures of Lakes." What lake isn't colorful at sunset? However, I do like the explanation for biological phenomena that cause unusual water coloring.
- jbuberel, on 08/20/2008, -0/+3Strangely blue New Zealand (near Teanau) lake with high nickel mineral content:

Sheesh, Canadians and whining go together like bread and butter. Canada....America's hat. - inactive, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2wanna go swimming now
- doleboy, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2***** febreeze dog
- bluepass, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Photoshopped!
- Dunnion, on 08/20/2008, -1/+3Almost all of those "red" lakes are just like puddles, unimpressed.
- MisterEX, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2And you can see it has been Photoshopped. Look closely at the tree line and coastline. The trees have been blurred all along the coast, probably to help mask the color changes he/she made on the lake.
- Mizzike, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2...oxymoron?
- talonstriker, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2The first picture looks photoshopped to me. Whether its done by Mother Nature or some evil geek is unknown to me.
- KrazyKoala, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Yeah that French one is no lake.
- robwowjo, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2no crater lake!!? wtf
- Khorpo, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2pics+
- iancwishlist, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2at least few of those were clearly ponds, maybe even puddles...
- VelvetoneFusion, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Lake Placid is colorful, especially when all the pollution floating on the water catches on fire.
- atcrawford, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2Pro tip: Peyto Lake is not as cool when it is frozen.
http://flickr.com/photos/atcrawford/2782338378/siz ... (taken in late May this year) - cgruber, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2It gets a digg for Green Lake, WI which is about 20 minutes from where I live. If you ever want to visit I recommend staying at the Heidel House, good times.
http://www.heidelhouse.com/ - Wulffy, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2A man has to read 10,000 books and to ride 10,000 miles in his life, chinese people told us.
YES, I WILL!!! Wonderful pictures! - ldkronos, on 08/20/2008, -0/+2A few that I thought should be there:
