- hazyeight, on 01/09/2009, -0/+167I find it hard to believe that extra-terrestrials would be advanced enough to travel light years to earth only to be thwarted by a windmill.
- dylio, on 01/09/2009, -1/+93Lol, Dailymail.
- JohnNiA, on 01/09/2009, -0/+76Love the very last line 'I've lived here for 20 years and nothing interesting has ever happened here.'
- FAHQ2, on 01/09/2009, -0/+58Two weeks ago a squirel tripped the breaker in our back yard on the main AC transformer that powers the houses on our block.
The result was a large flash of light, a big loud boom, and one dead squirel on the ground.
I suggest these people look for their dead squirel, instead of aliens. - Grahamcracker, on 01/09/2009, -0/+50First of all, it's spelled TARDIS, and second, it's less of a delta-winged, stealth autonomous craft than it is a police box shaped, time and space traveling craft.
- kalvinb, on 01/10/2009, -1/+50An intergalactic Don Quixote
- jcpudd, on 01/09/2009, -1/+24"they have been waiting for all their lives."
Aren't there better things to wait all your life for? - Spoomeister, on 01/10/2009, -0/+21I suspect the dailymail will follow up with a story about a squirrel-sized alien corpse.
- whiledo, on 03/25/2009, -1/+21Perhaps their ancestors were an avian-like race...
- santiago1, on 01/09/2009, -4/+24 Buried for stupid ***** Dailymail crap. Isn't it like the National Enquirer of Britain?
- Dustin00, on 01/09/2009, -1/+19Yes, aliens with intelligence and technology to cross the vast gulf of space flew down here and immediately ran into one of our wind mills.
Or, perhaps, Douglas Adams' Buzz Theory was more accurate than we thought. - beaudh, on 01/10/2009, -2/+18Yet they can navigate around asteroids and other space junk to get here in record time ? I think not.
- AlphaDrake, on 01/10/2009, -2/+17bacon
- moletimer, on 01/09/2009, -5/+20Ah the Daily Mail - bringing you shocking bias and crappy journalism since 1896.
The (in my opinion) more trustworthy BBC article is here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/lincolnshire/78 ... - Ubermann, on 01/10/2009, -0/+15The first ever UFO DUI incident.
- Sonan, on 01/09/2009, -10/+24Haven't wasted my time reading the article, but couldn't the "strange lights in the sky" and the "ear-splitting boom" just have been from the turbine blowing up? Five bucks says they determine that some fault simply caused the turbine to fail. I've seen / heard a transformer blow, and I'd say it fits that description fairly well.
- Hetman, on 01/09/2009, -0/+14I dunno if anyone read the article. But it states "Ministry of Defence insiders who reportedly said that a black delta-wing craft called Taranis was making test runs on the coastal bombing ranges at Donna Nook and North Coates in Lincolnshire, near to the site of the damaged turbine." Technically it is a UFO. And a paticularly scary one if it really is an unmaned stealth bomber.
- Flashman, on 01/10/2009, -0/+13Cervantes trivia: The band "They might be giants" was named for Quixote's response to being told that windmills were, in fact, windmills.
- Phoetality, on 01/10/2009, -0/+12Daily Fail.
- jh4rms, on 01/09/2009, -0/+11nothing really to say except...weird.
- diggduggDOOM, on 01/10/2009, -2/+13"I've seen / heard a transformer blow"
I'm betting it was Bumblebee. He always seemed like the type. - thumperings, on 01/10/2009, -0/+11like what? death?
- Beatmiser, on 01/10/2009, -3/+14That's no moon.
It's a space station. - centran, on 01/10/2009, -1/+11just like some humans, some aliens think they can drink and drive... or fly in this case.
- Millsee, on 01/10/2009, -1/+10Aliens 2
- grungegbunny, on 01/10/2009, -0/+9Wow lights and noises in the sky equals intelligent aliens from far off places! Anyone else wanna say jumping to conclusions?
And what school do you go to to become a UFO expert? I need that certification. - zadadka, on 01/10/2009, -0/+9When will we see the Endor'v these Star Wars puns?
- RogerStrong, on 01/10/2009, -0/+8It was probably just a runaway windmill, like this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c3FZtmlHwcA - metalgel, on 01/10/2009, -0/+8what could be cooler than aliens?
- inactive, on 01/09/2009, -7/+14We can't explain it so it must have been aliens! Uh-huh.
You know, humanity would be a lot better off if they stopped thinking like this (ie. religion works exactly the same way, just replace "aliens" with "God"). - bobbinika, on 01/10/2009, -0/+7Tethered Aerial Release Developed In Style??
- Yage2006, on 01/10/2009, -1/+8"UFO experts" HA!
Funny how they can break the speed of light to get here but crash into a wind turbine lol - serif69, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6"What's on tap?"
"Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light, MGD, Miller Light, Sam Lager, Sam Seasonal, ╞ɮʢƕ◵⋣, Guinness, Harp, Smitwick's, and Bass."
"Oh, uh, I'll try that weird one." - musicphreke, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6Took the words right out of my mouth. I'd think that being that advanced they could surely figure out something that easily, but then again I question that since maybe they've never seen technology like we've got? Something so simple to us could be totally new and unusual to an extra-terrestrial. It's food for thought anyways.
- theheyes, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6We in England express our disregard for some newspapers by declaring we "wouldn't even wipe our arse with it". At least in the north. This is one such paper.
- dizavin, on 01/10/2009, -1/+7"and in other related reports, there were sightings of a strange, blue police box appearing and disappearing in the same area. one woman is said to have seen a man running between the two sites who would only respond to the title of The Doctor".
- Finalreminder, on 01/10/2009, -1/+7Best explanation I've heard is metal fatigue. The blade fell off and hit the other blade on the way down.
But that's far too logical, it must have been aliens. - degree, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6I want to ask their photographer wtf he was thinking lighting the shot with the granny and her camera as he did.
You're a weird man, David Haber. - Culyt, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6Not soon enough, we may have to force the issue.
- vastness, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6@Yage2006
FINALLY, somebody that understands! You know, I was beginning to feel so alone in the world. Everybody seems to think squirrels are these cute little fuzzballs. They're EVIL little rats and OBVIOUSLY a part of the alien/squirrel/Hello Kitty conspiracy, but what am I saying? You already know all this!
You and I are gonna get along just fine, Yage. You don't mind if I call you Yage, do you? So now that we're best friends, can I borrow some money for a plane ticket to come visit you? Or you can come visit me, but you'll have to share the couch with my Aunt Ernie. He has to stay with us as a condition of his parole.
Sooo, whadaya say? - Yage2006, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6Yes as a matter of fact it is.
Telegraph is pretty sensational too.
I just bury whatever I see coming from them without a second glance :) - Cerebron, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6Hyperdrives make matter meaningless, you only have to be careful during low-speed, low-altitude maneuvering with conventional drive.
- texas166, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6in England any "newspaper" with daily in the name should be avoided
- serif69, on 01/10/2009, -0/+6I wouldn't wipe my ass with a newspaper ever. That ***** gives nasty paper cuts.
- clemsontiger, on 01/10/2009, -2/+8Those "lights" are what look to be Sundogs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sun_dog - DutchGuilder, on 01/10/2009, -1/+6Yeah, a flying 20-foot squirrel with an arm-span big enough to wipe out 2 60-foot blades.
- davidg11, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5Those aren't crop circles, those are UFO's harvesting earth barley for their alien beer.
Some things are simply universal. - farfromhere, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5"Where's the kaboom? There was supposed to be an earth shattering kaboom!"
- fandyboy, on 01/10/2009, -0/+5I see what you did there....
- arobicha, on 01/10/2009, -1/+6Question: How can you be an expert in a field when everything you know about your field is purely speculative, and all evidence you collect is not conclusive?
Follow-up: How can I make money off these idiots while educating them out of their ***** beliefs? -
