- scottknick, on 05/07/2009, -2/+270Some day in the distant future historian will look back at all this stuff named after Colbert and wonder who the hell he could have been . . .some kind of a god, or national hero?
- Frankyfan3, on 05/07/2009, -1/+205Are you insinuating that he is neither of those things?
blasphemy! - manzplan, on 05/07/2009, -2/+134complex genitalia.. but you need a microscope to see it.
- temujin2012, on 05/07/2009, -1/+64It was even in the title.

- twiztidsinz, on 05/07/2009, -1/+32"First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, then then name a beetle with extremely complicated genitalia, THEN you win."
The often ignored part of Gandhi's quote... - jikmo, on 05/07/2009, -0/+27With a camera?
Seriously, who asks that? - Arkyll, on 07/16/2009, -31/+54Just like Steven...
- frepnog, on 05/07/2009, -1/+20it is a topical comedy show about current events.
reruns dont really work.
unless he moves on past the colbert report, it will be forgotten. - airwalkery2k, on 05/07/2009, -1/+19Some future historians will likely be lead to believe that Colbert was some kind of a cult leader like Pythagoras.
- SpiritOfRock, on 05/07/2009, -0/+16It's a pair of open scissors with a string in the middle that's holding down a catapult full of semen. He clenches his thighs to squeeze the scissors and launches the semen into the vagina.
- clvngodess, on 05/07/2009, -4/+19LOL!
- pegothejerk, on 05/07/2009, -2/+17or you could look at it like this: the majority of living organisms on the face of this planet must look up at the genitalia in awe, scratch their heads with their flagella and wonder if the baby maker is indeed their god, a monument, or some weapon of mass destruction.
I suggest all are true. - whiledo, on 05/08/2009, -0/+14Perhaps it was hard to describe because it's COMPLICATED.
- waspbr, on 05/07/2009, -0/+13So you are one of those people that don't know he is joking eh? hate to break it to you, but he is.
http://digg.com/d1plX2 - apathy9, on 05/07/2009, -0/+13How can you write an article about something with "extremely complicated genitalia" and not in any way describe it or mention why it's complicated?
- NiceGuyVan, on 05/07/2009, -3/+15In a perfect world that list would be empty...
- identityxcrysis, on 05/07/2009, -1/+13I can't see where this says the Onion on it...
- tofagerl, on 05/07/2009, -0/+11There's an Even Stephen joke in here somewhere, but I can't find it...
- lintmonkey, on 05/07/2009, -0/+11You, sir, are on notice.
- Moralogic, on 05/07/2009, -5/+15I pray to 2 Gods, FSM and Stephen Colbert.
- Grova, on 05/07/2009, -1/+9“Last year, Stephen shamelessly asked the science community to name something cooler than a spider to honor him. His top choices were a giant ant or a laser lion.
- philman467, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7Doesn't anyone remember Strangers with Candy?! come on people.
- m0ng00se68, on 05/08/2009, -0/+6You sound like fun. We should hang out sometime. Seriously. Call me.

- Hoogs, on 05/08/2009, -0/+6Lol @ "Preseucoila imallshookupis". No subtlety there...
- fangor, on 05/07/2009, -2/+8FTA: Aside from Colbert, Wheeler and Kelly Miller from UNM have named several other species in honor of Roy Orbison, Darth Vader, George Bush, Dick Cheney, and Donald Rumsfeld
...
Colbert, Vader, Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld....and ROY ORBISON? wtf - DryMaltExtract, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6I'm aware that the t is silent in his name, however, the scientists may have decided that berry sounded to weird.
- TheTaoOfBill, on 05/08/2009, -1/+7Film and digital records is one of those shortest lived ways of keeping records. Even some of the longest lasting storage devices only last around 100 years. Chances are if our civilization ever becomes extinct there wouldn't be much left for future archeologists to discover about our culture other than physical objects. Very little data would be preserved long enough for them to read. Certainly not his TV show.
If you really want to ***** with the future carve "I pray to king Colbert every night before bed" into stone and bury it in your backyard. Or even better. Make several stone carvings and bury them all over town. - SpiritOfRock, on 05/07/2009, -4/+10His television show has been recorded and will probably be passed around quite a bit throughout the next few centuries.
- Crazysticks, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6I agree, A valid question. Though I think it is easy to assume that if they liked him enough to name a bug after him they would not botch his famous silent T.
- Gguillorn, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6Word, a sense of humor is so retarded.
- emt1451, on 05/07/2009, -4/+10He's not?
- mtgarvey853, on 05/08/2009, -1/+6who knows they could name a religion after him - colbertism
- MacVogt, on 05/07/2009, -5/+10I always wondered the importance of studying the 1.5 million species of beetles.
- dafragsta, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5Orbison is the most evil of them all.
- geesamba, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5O.o

- Rahaz, on 05/08/2009, -1/+5Dugg for Colbertness.
- MrSlumberjack, on 05/08/2009, -0/+4Get off my planet. Now.

- Guitarist970, on 05/08/2009, -0/+4you came before Darwin?
- had3l, on 05/08/2009, -0/+4It's hard to think of Confucius, Buddha and Plato as being celebrities... But I guess they were in their time.
- whiledo, on 05/08/2009, -0/+4In before Darwin!
