- Falldog, on 07/10/2008, -0/+21Opposed to the current bubble planes which are unwieldy cubes.
- mrgreenjeans, on 07/10/2008, -0/+15"100% aerodynamic flight"
What the hell does that mean? - mecharabbit, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1460% of the time, it's aerodynamic all the time.
- stephenhacking, on 07/10/2008, -1/+12Were are all the avionics?
- Falldog, on 07/10/2008, -0/+10I'll get worked up when I see this in action. Until then a rendering is just a mythical as the flying car.
- ThatGeek, on 07/12/2008, -3/+12so when can i buy one? oh yeah, thats right, never
- havokzero, on 07/12/2008, -0/+8Finally, my dream of flying naked over the Olympic Games in a transparent aircraft is becoming a reality!
- mecharabbit, on 07/12/2008, -0/+5It's classified as an ultralight, so no avionics required.
- mrgreenjeans, on 07/10/2008, -2/+7Eww, then everyone would be looking up at your ***** puddle shifting to and fro.
- oboy, on 07/11/2008, -2/+6Wonder Woman!
- mattnyc99, on 07/10/2008, -2/+6INVISIBLE PLANES! yes!
- Deejster, on 07/12/2008, -0/+4"Lucky Strike" cigarettes sponsor a "Junior" designer award?! Sketchy.
- cowsgonemadd3, on 07/12/2008, -0/+4100% aerodynamic
No such thing. But a neat idea. - inactive, on 07/10/2008, -3/+6I'd ***** myself flying that
- beachguy411, on 07/10/2008, -1/+4this looks impossible!
- gavinhudson, on 07/10/2008, -2/+4Now this would be a sick commute.
- mecharabbit, on 07/12/2008, -0/+2I would like mine rose-tinted, so I can have an unrealistically positive view on the world below.
- Pricebreak, on 07/14/2008, -0/+2I guess one person's dream is somebody's nightmare..
- blacklilyninja, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1getting my wonder woman costume out of the closet
- emailingRob, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Congratulations! You're the prime suspect!
- ColonelTribune, on 07/10/2008, -1/+2I'm not an engineer. Is it?
- rzender, on 07/12/2008, -2/+3unrealistic.
- Kanele, on 07/12/2008, -1/+2We lack the weight of the plane and dimensions of the wings, that would give a pretty good hint. Getting numbers on propulsion would be nice too. Now the fact that they are not given tells me nothing has been calculated, or it has been calculated but didn't prove to be worth telling people XD
- bizsumpark182, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Man, I would love to be in that.
- mecharabbit, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Just like Wonder Woman had. And there's enough room for me AND a young Lynda Carter.
- Super6, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1The Icon A5 is way cooler and it's actually physically possible to build:

Now If i just had 140k to blow... - artofficial, on 07/12/2008, -2/+3Redbull Flugtag?
- fightclub, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Hate to burst your bubble, so to speak...but it's only a concept.
- emailingRob, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Let me guess. You posted here, then decided that not enough people would read your message, so decided to comment-jack higher up?
Understanding the mind of a troll; I scare myself sometimes. - kingfoot, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1wtf did you just say?
- inactive, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Jesus I didn't know people had propeller fetishes too.
- stateofdreams, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1That looks great and all, but how do you get in? I don't see any doors.
- TheHolySeraphim, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Very energy efficient, but very impractical. What's the total weight capacity? 200 lbs!
- Detry, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1No *****.
- macrumpton, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Yet another empty design exercise.
A plane that is structurally unlikely made of uninvented materials powered by invisible motors by solar panels that are less than 1/6 the size necessary. Even the landing gear is laughable. God help you if those skateboard wheels hit a pebble.
I would be surprised if the designer had ever even built a model plane.
This is not news. - bwdd, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1You're absolutely correct.
Common sense would tell you that the flier is ***** by night time.
So we should hope there would be some sort of gas tank.
We can only hope that these aren't the real blueprints. - Jameo, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1I'd love to see how energy efficient the AC system would be in a bubble plane. More like flying bubble oven.
- stateofdreams, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Yeah, impossible to get in one. Where are the doors?
- JackBundaberg, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Cigarette companies don't care about the environment. They're too busy skeet shooting using puppies.
family guy ha ha - jvredpath, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1A little light on technical detail. Why bother with the wings ? There are no control surfaces on this plane. It's basically a solar powered ballon with a propeller to move it forward. Good luck on that one. I want to see the person that designed this actually get in one on a windy day and take off near some ocean. It will likely the be the last we'll hear from him and his design.
- Nudar, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Why's that? No heating system?
- zippe, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1you had me at "bubble plane"
- bpattison, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1Count on a design student to create a plane with no visible (or existing) mechanical components to steer the plane mush less a door to get into it. It looks forward heavy - who knows if it would fly? I guess it is conceptual, but I remember jumping off the garage with cardboard wings - the concept seemed to work in my head... and I definitely did not win an award for it. Designers tend to self congratulate a lot over hair-brained "innovation". leave the solutions to the engineers with a moderate knowledge of physics.
- M724, on 07/12/2008, -0/+1I won't ride that.
- jb0t, on 07/12/2008, -0/+0It's not a balloon. No wings, no lift.
- symbiot, on 07/12/2008, -0/+0It's center of gravity is actually considerably further back than it seems to be at first glance. Your butts would be right under the center of the wing and, presumably, the weight of the miracle plastic this thing is supposed to be made of is negligible.
Still, I'd be a lot more impressed if it'd been a plane that was built rather than merely "designed". -
