- LeepII, on 10/18/2008, -1/+8Gas always comes down right before the election. What is funny is that more people don't notice that it happens so regularly.
- topgoogletrends, on 10/18/2008, -1/+5I agree. So what gas has dropped. It has not made any real significant impact to my way of life. The amount is still killing me at the pump.
- GamingForever, on 10/19/2008, -0/+3It's better than what it was....
- anow2, on 10/18/2008, -2/+5Where I live it has gone down 40+ cents a gallon, it is not just "a few pennies".
- Trekhawk, on 10/18/2008, -0/+2While a savings or a few nickels and dimes may not seem large at your weekly fill-up, consider its impact in aggregate. $4 saved per fill-up times 4 fill-ups a month and assuming this price stays steady for a couple months you could be talking about real money.
"Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship." -Benjamin Franklin - jodimcmullen, on 10/18/2008, -0/+2Opec has scheduled an emergency meeting to discuss cutting production. I don't hear ay of them steeping up to help bailout the world economy.
- zedkitty, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2Gas is down to 2.60 here in northeast florida...more than a few pennies and more than a little suspicious!
- truck87bp, on 10/19/2008, -0/+2I thought it was a little strange that Oil went down the same day that AIG took a crap.
- RevAradia, on 10/19/2008, -0/+1I agree with the author if not necessarily his way of putting it. I have memories of thinking to myself "Oh no, gas could NEVER go up to $1 a gallon how would we survive..little did I KNOW?! *sigh* ah well...
- mikem94590, on 10/20/2008, -0/+1I begin to believe that gas and oil companies raise prices extremely so that when they lower it to a less horrid price, people will be more willing to pay for it.
For example if they raise the price from $1 to $5, and then to $3, people would be willing to pay the $3 rather than if they raised the price from $1 directly to $3. - MorganMghee, on 10/19/2008, -0/+1Keep being stingy with driving your car, tell your representatives to back tighter regulations on commodities speculation AND clean alternative energy, and tell them to go after violators vigorously and we will continue to see a decline in the price of oil/gas. The goal is to see a noticeable difference, but in the meantime those pennies saved mean more than you think. they save the companies you buy things from millions of dollars, from food to clothes, car parts to carpeting. plastic and nylon are petroleum products, as are fertilizers. Americans are driving millions and millions of miles less this year over last, we've filed the first set of charges for manipulating oil prices, we're actually bringing AE power sources online and demand is growing. ALL of these things lower demand AND let the speculators know the future of oil is bleak. These are the things that will bring the price of gas down.
- inactive, on 10/19/2008, -0/+1If the drop was insignificant, than so was the previous increase.
- inactive, on 10/18/2008, -2/+3You would be suprise how far those extra pennies could take you on the long run...
Remmebr that we all here are trying to get those Two (2) pennies by Digging or blogging Our ass off.. So please don't mock just be thankful..
STRAIGHTALK - inactive, on 10/19/2008, -2/+0Sorry, cheap gas is not a birth right. If you live in the city, you can ride your bike or take public transit. Otherwise, quit complaining. It's like mom said, "Driving is a privilege". Also, don't they pay 3-4 times as much in England?
Speaking of Oil, I can't figure out why Obama, McCain, and Bush insist on threatening Russia. They are the worlds second largest producer of oil, and if they cut that off, we're screwed big time. I hate when they give that BS "Georgia is a sovereign nation" line....... wasn't that true of Afghanistan and Iraq? Talk about double standards.
I guess they were easier to invade for oil though.
