- sjbdallas, on 06/07/2009, -2/+64"unofficial reports"? I could understand that statement if it were TRACE amounts of snow or reports that it was falling but melted when it hit the ground, but 2 inches of snow is 2 inches of snow. How can it be UNOFFICIAL?

Guess what, it's currently cold outside.

Global warming does not mean that every location on earth will go up in temperature at all times. Some seasons will be warmer or colder in some areas, and in other areas the temperatures will vary in the different direction. This is because the weather patterns are adjusting.
If you think this disproves anything about global warming (or climate change as it should be called, because it has to do with more than just temperature), you lack a fundamental understanding of how it works. - inactive, on 06/07/2009, -42/+63You see, you just don't understand the science behind global... ah screw it, the kool-aid drinkers will show up soon enough and tell us we're all nuts. Climate != Weather. - hbweb500, on 06/07/2009, -4/+23Where do these scientists get off? With their years of training all in the name of "facts" and "evidence"? Global Warming = Climate change
Global Warming != Higher temperatures everywhere - lettruthout, on 06/07/2009, -21/+36Careful who you call idiots.
This is exactly the type of erratic weather we'll be seeing more of as the effects of climate change take place. There will be more strange/strong storms as the old patterns.
Please join the rest of us as we move to a sustainable economy. - inactive, on 06/07/2009, -1/+16I remember camping one year on the north shore in Minnesota around the 4th of July and the temperature dropping to 30 deg at night.
- deema1, on 06/07/2009, -13/+27Great science there. If temperatures rise, it's due to climate change and global warming. If temperatures fall, it's due to erratic weather due to climate change and global warming. Either way it's the fault of climate change, and you win.
The solution? More taxes! Yeah, that'll fix it!
This has to be one of the biggest shams ever perpetrated on the world population. It's staggering how gullible you people are.

- NMRgentleman, on 06/07/2009, -7/+20You know, when we're talking about climactic change, you can't really point to any one individual weather event as evidence for, or against, the change. (Of course, that didn't stop Kofi Annan from coming out with a report saying 300,000 had died so far due to climate change in which he counted the deaths due to many individual weather events and did lots of other terrible statistics to boot.)
Anyways, I'm pretty confident that the evidence does show that the Earth has warmed slightly over the last century - actually, about the same amount it has every century since the Little Ice Age. Our extra carbon dioxide emissions seem to have little effect on temperature, and certainly don't consitute a crisis that warrants the massive new environmental and economic regulations we're going to get with "global warming" as the given excuse.
Global warming - 95% political power play, 5% science. - Ninh, on 06/07/2009, -2/+14If nobody peed in it and a meteorologist tasted it, it's only unofficial snow.
- ChubbyCheese, on 06/08/2009, -2/+13We like you to think that. Then everything stays the same. Low crime, low cost of living, great place to raise a family.
- jsauter, on 06/07/2009, -1/+12And last week it was practically 30. Expect snow any month of the year in Calgary.
- inactive, on 06/07/2009, -13/+22See that's the problem with the current argument. People who dispute global warming, do so with only a few years of casual observance (mostly what they read in the newspaper or from politicians), where the other side has decades of detailed, peer reviewed scientific analysis.
If the answer to global warming didn't cost a dime, there would be no argument at all. So while I don't think youre nuts, I think your argument and reasoning to dispute global warming is ***** INSANE because its so much more than just a slight warming of the planet. - Kythas, on 06/08/2009, -3/+11They're already on it. That's why they call it "global climate change" now - so they can cover all their bases no matter what the weather does.
- twiztidsinz, on 06/08/2009, -2/+10It's all a ruse by the global warmings!!

- SpinningHead, on 06/07/2009, -7/+15An overall change in global temperature does not mean localized warming will occur everywhere. For example, melting arctic ice can eventually stop the gulf stream which would send much of Europe into an ice age.
- jkendal4, on 06/08/2009, -0/+8There has been snow in every month in Calgary except August
- mah2cent, on 06/07/2009, -4/+11You might all be interested in this set of graphs of temperature/climate change; it is very telling:

Exactly. Pollution reduction is a cause I can get behind. But that's because there's a very real and measurable effect. Plus, trillions in tax dollars wouldn't be going to people and companies with a direct financial interest it. Everyone benefits from pollution control. The snake oil elites benefit from climate change control. - jkendal4, on 06/08/2009, -0/+7I went for a run yesterday and had snow, then sun, then rain, which then turned into hail, all in 45 minutes
- deema1, on 06/07/2009, -11/+18It's becoming more and more obvious that this whole Global Warming/Climate Change charade is pure propaganda. The science is completely falling apart, and the U.N., politicians, and government-sponsored scientists are now having a harder time keeping the truth from being revealed. It's laughable that there are some of you who so willingly believe anybody in a position of authority, especially when they stand to make billions each year from the taxes they intend to impose. Snap out of this haze and realize the whole thing is an elaborate hoax to transfer your earnings to politicians, their front companies, and major corporations who are in bed with the government. Try to explain how paying more in taxes to politicians and select corporations is going to solve Global Warming/Climate Change?
NASA admits solar cycle, not man, responsible for past warming:

Gore admits he has personally invested $35 million in a fund that invests in green companies:
http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&am ... - Dipsomaniac, on 06/08/2009, -2/+9No, the earth hasn't been cooling since 1999. The overall average global temperature is still rising.
- lanemik, on 06/07/2009, -14/+21If we can't infer what is happening globally by a freak weather occurrence in an isolated area, then what can we do? I mean, hell, let's forget all the other signs that point towards global warming and a resulting global climate change and just slam "Algore" and his sheeple for not recognizing that snow ... in JUNE ... means that global warming is a hoax. amirite?
- deema1, on 06/08/2009, -5/+12I used to believe in global warming before I started reading the work of the realists. Let me ask a serious question that omits the science and focuses just on the economics, as this will make things more palatable. Do you not find it somewhat questionable that the people who are pushing this the hardest are the same ones who have the most to gain from it? These individuals have personally invested millions in companies that will benefit from climate legislation; companies have already invested millions in technologies that will profit from climate legislation. Al Gore has invested $35 million of his own money in a fund that invests exclusively in green companies that would benefit from legislation; he also has ownership in the Chicago Climate Exchange, upon which the Cap-and-Trade units will be traded. GE has established numerous small front companies that will directly benefit from government legislation. Do you not question why and how paying trillions of dollars a year in taxes is going to fix this problem? The money isn't being reinvested -- it's going to businesses and politicians. They're going to make a fortune from this. With that being the case, doesn't it stand to reason that they might pay a little more to certain scientists who would be willing to produce their desired results? You don't think companies aren't funding organizations to generate the desired results? It's been shown that some pharmaceutical companies do it, so why wouldn't these companies? I could get into the science as well, but this is the easier case to make.
Once you've considered who truly benefits from this legislation, and at whose expense, ask yourself why you WOULD believe them. - Chahrlie5, on 06/07/2009, -30/+37damned global warming snow
- Punchcardz, on 06/07/2009, -3/+10Michael Chrichton can be a fun read, but I'm a biologist and I can tell you his science is *****. Suitable for creating a fun plot in a paperback, but not the kind of thing grown ups should be using to generate policy.

- guntario, on 06/08/2009, -1/+7You forgot to throw in a couple swine flu "epidemics" and the whole destruction of the o-zone layer. We were all supposed to be walking around in space suits by now.
- pacerx, on 06/07/2009, -9/+15No. The earth is still in an overall warming trend. It just that the only thing that's not changing is the temperature, but also the weather patterns, hence global climate change.
A single instance of a cold spring does not mean anything in the grand scheme, if the overall trend is still consistent, which so far it is.
Sorry. - hbweb500, on 06/08/2009, -1/+7If you are frightened of the agenda of anyone who is "behind" global warming, shouldn't you be equally skeptical of the corporations who would stand much more to lose if they had to invest millions in green initiatives. If you can convince yourself that global warming is a sham perpetuated by certain individuals and corporations for personal profit, shouldn't you also consider that it is equally (if not more) likely that there is a large anti-global warming agenda funded by even bigger corporations? And if you come to this conclusion (which you cannot logically avoid), the best you could do is say that global warming might be an actual phenomenon, that might be caused by humans, and might be worth stopping.

- inactive, on 06/08/2009, -4/+10Man-made global warming is nothing more than just another hoax, just like Y2K and the global freezing claims in the 1960's and 70's were.
Global warming is being used to generate fear and panic.
Those behind this movement are using it to control people's lives and for financial gain. - Xaevier, on 06/08/2009, -6/+12@Jaded
Seriously man? Most scientists DISAGREE with global warming now, the vast majority have changed their minds and agreed that they panicked a bit.
Only the politicians pet scientists that just want to keep their funding and ignore solid scientific facts like that ones angry threw out still think we are doomed. - Lunarsight, on 06/07/2009, -6/+12Perhaps we should stop thinking about reducing pollution as a cure to 'global warming'.
Rather, why not reduce pollution so we don't have to breathe in that crap?
Speaking as somebody who lived right off a state highway and down the street from an industrial factory, this sort of thing can make the air really sucky, particularly during commuter hours. - Lunarsight, on 06/07/2009, -1/+7Danby - I don't think everybody is detecting the sarcasm. =)

- trejrco, on 06/08/2009, -0/+6In some ways, has already started ... or, combining all of the above to argue that the global warming will help prevent an otherwise drastic global cooling. Good times!
