and im definitely NOT for bottled water, unless im out in the wild - StevieJanowski, on 04/02/2009, -0/+8Work from home. If only it was that easy. Not many bosses will let you work from home for the environment (but they should)
- badwithcomputer, on 08/13/2008, -1/+97. grow your own weed
- Bukowsky, on 08/13/2008, -0/+6If I worked from home... I would never have to do my laundry, as I would be in my underwear most of the time.
Damn, I wish I was eco-friendly. - tmschmal, on 08/13/2008, -0/+5I've been using the same nalgene bottle since 1995, drinking 2-3 quarts per day. I'll let you do the math on how much money and plastic bottles i've saved.
I'm not some hippie, tree hugger either. I just don't like being wasteful with my money or other resources. - jd33, on 08/13/2008, -0/+5I work from home and I get so much done. I'm hardly ever on digg .... except now.
- elshizzo, on 08/13/2008, -0/+4Energy saver bulbs are the easiest thing to do. They cost practically nothing, use half as much energy, and last longer.
- balibones, on 08/13/2008, -0/+4Why not take a reusable bottle into the wild, like the stainless steel kind?
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -1/+5Excellent list
- palmel1234, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3Bottled water is a scam.
- allaboutdatiki, on 08/13/2008, -0/+3For all of Whole Foods hype about Going Local, they sure do import a whole lot of foods NEEDLESSLY from overseas. Why the heck do they need to fly Snow Peas from Peru?
- allaboutdatiki, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2Cast down your shackles!
- jd33, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2... and now.
- allaboutdatiki, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2Is it a Nalgene bottle made with bisphenol A?
- TheMime, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2The wild? You mean Mexico?
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -0/+25. Ban bottled water
Isn't American water heavily fluoridated, I'd stick with the bottled water for now if I were you. - deadlift, on 08/13/2008, -0/+2You've dugg over 1,200 articles. I'm sure you are hardly ever on Digg...
- jboitnott, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1good idea is to get one of them Brita filters. Bam. No more plastic bottles.
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1Pretty good list. Way too much bottled water out there unless you want to buy some from me.
- triskele, on 08/13/2008, -0/+1Been using narrow mouth lab grade nalgenes since I first started reusing water bottles 15 years ago give or take.
- brightlight4, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1seems a great idea, all of it, to me. But then in Spain it is so easy to buy local produce from our small stores and not expensive either and wonderful quality. No GM foods :) I never drink bottled water (I make iced tea) and use special biological balls in my washing machine instead of detergents, showers that save water, bulbs that save electricity and walk everywhere!!! :)) (I am a Greenpeace fan too hahahaha).
- EireItalia, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1I work from home and love it.
- UNL1M1T3D, on 09/03/2008, -0/+1Going green and saving money!
- zedkitty, on 08/14/2008, -0/+1truly ignorant refusal of well known facts...are you a republican too?
- zedkitty, on 08/14/2008, -0/+0Some Nalgene bottles indeed contain BPA. I love my sigg stainless steel bottle.
- 11Christine, on 08/14/2008, -1/+1Nice list!
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -1/+1*****, this is stupid. I agree with bottle water, its a waste of plastic. The rest is just dumb, the guy coming to build my room addition cant work from home. You see because of NAFTA and CAFTA America almost produces nothing. We have become a service providing country, to provide service most of the times you need to travel some where.
The world is not dieing, Global Warming is a sham, a lie, and only a way to push a global carbon tax on you. We are not over populated and there is plenty of trees, uh by the way trees and plant life just love carbon dioxide. Ice caps are melting slower than those on Mars, completely normal when the suns output increases. Please people shut up and stop following the cattle to the feed bag. Think for yourself.
You see the environment needs to be protected but lets no go crazy here, stop living in fear of every damn thing that comes along. In the 70's we was on the verge of a new ice age and all man kind was going to freeze to death or starve because crops could not grow. Now we have a burning death with global warming, *****. - inactive, on 08/14/2008, -1/+1Also laced with mercury, great for the environment as well.
- zedkitty, on 08/14/2008, -0/+0hello! most bottled water is just purified (or in some cases only slightly processed) municipal tap water. also some of those 'artesian' wells have proven to be contaminated with heavy metals etc, except unlike the muni water...they aren't required to test for it and aren't regulated by the EPA.
- inactive, on 09/03/2008, -1/+1Really good list! I love no.4 the best.
- inactive, on 08/13/2008, -1/+1Here in Canada, money is not green :/
- inactive, on 08/14/2008, -0/+0One of the happiest days of my life was when the French sank the "Rainbow Warrier." What beautiful irony.
- samoan27, on 08/13/2008, -5/+4Virtually worthless article for saving money (which isn't to say the things aren't great for the environment)
1. Move to a more walkable neighborhood
Considering the cost of moving and the fact that more walkable neighborhoods are typically higher cost, if you're thinking of purchasing a home at $5000/yr you won't be saving green unless you don't plan on retiring until you're 120.
2. Work from home
psogle already covered this
3. Shop responsibly
By their definition again, we're not saving any money
4. Think global, eat local
I'd truly love to do this more, except those dang farmers charge twice what the store does plus I have to make a second shopping trip which adds gas costs. Again, no money saved here at all.
5. Ban bottled water & 6. Recharge your batteries
Yes finally at the very end, two things that are green and saves money. - Teddi14, on 08/14/2008, -1/+0I love this short but yet useful to the point list! Great!
- MikeonTV, on 08/13/2008, -4/+2I didn't know ur a fool
