- DCJoeDogaswell, on 08/29/2008, -3/+57That's amazing, all I've ever found in amazon were great deals and free shipping.
- jlowe64, on 08/29/2008, -3/+42I really hate stories like this without pictures.
Very interesting, nonetheless. - vanashk, on 08/29/2008, -1/+7um, sarcasm?
- staticneuron, on 08/29/2008, -0/+5Except atlantis was stated to be a very large island in the middle of the atlantic ocean.
- andrewk21, on 08/29/2008, -0/+3Sarcasm doesn't work on the internet. Dammit. That was supposed to be comedy.
- XZanatos, on 08/29/2008, -0/+2What this article shows to me is that people have to get away from the "lets all learn about the great Ancient European empires because the rest of the world wasn't very important" mentality of ancient history many people/institutions have. As it turns out there are literally DOZENS of great ancient empires all around the world. There is a whole lot more to ancient history than just Roman Armies going around and conquering lands.

You saved: No one. - Iztikeit, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1If only those Spanish and English bastards did not utterly destroy almost every scrap of civilization in South America. Those civilizations were far more advanced, in many aspects, than the conquering civilizations.
We lost so much history it is a shame they ever came across the Atlantic in the first place.
Imagine the vast volumes of books we lost because they were seen as heretical. I believe every civilization has something to add that is important to humanity, and we will never get a chance to know what these people really knew. - KingGorilla, on 08/29/2008, -0/+1free shipping totally beats ancient towns with no pictures any day
- tman84, on 08/29/2008, -6/+7I'm also searching for something, but I haven't found it yet; a comment on this article that isn't *****.
- Rammy912, on 08/29/2008, -1/+1even the guys who said they found a Sasquatch had pictures...

- honeybrass, on 08/30/2008, -0/+0I'm searching Google earth now for the next lost civilisation
- ElGubrush, on 08/29/2008, -2/+2wtf no pictures I want to see teh ruins
- jasongbc, on 08/29/2008, -2/+1Columbus was a dick. North America was settled by vikings 400 years before Columbus
- Squires, on 08/29/2008, -2/+1Read "1491" by Charles C Mann. The book is about the Americas pre-contact. He cites the story of the first Europeans to travel down the Amazon river, who said the forest was filled with natives. Very interesting read.
- ErickStevenson, on 08/29/2008, -2/+1Well that sucks, no pictures... I was expecting something from the movie The Ruins...
- Gemfinder, on 08/29/2008, -2/+1Don't touch the vines. Especially if they have red flowers.
- ericdano, on 08/29/2008, -3/+1Things with more experience than Obama +1
- jamaph, on 08/29/2008, -3/+1It would be great to be working with the team that made this discovery.
I love scientists. I'm waiting for the snorg T that says something like "Free hugs for scientists" - 2oonhed, on 08/29/2008, -4/+1Is there WiFi in the Amazon?.........they should start an "Ancient Amazon Village" blog.
- levitator, on 08/29/2008, -7/+2I thought this was an article about people living in a huge Amazon.com warehouse!
- WhoDoneIt, on 08/29/2008, -5/+0Burn the area down, with FIRE!!!
- katjas, on 08/29/2008, -14/+9Scientists 1
Lost Settlements 0 - nicku, on 08/29/2008, -11/+6Things not younger than McCain +1.
- BufordT, on 08/29/2008, -7/+1Does the MSM get all of their science news from the journal Science? It seems like I read about three articles a day that mention the ever so popular line "The scientists, whose findings were published on _______ in the journal Science"
- lostsymphonies1, on 08/29/2008, -7/+1someone forgot to listen in American History class!
- techdogg, on 08/29/2008, -7/+1Who are you to determine that people are "civilized" or not?
Also, Christopher Columbus died in 1506. I don't think he was in any expedition after that... - superman46n2, on 08/29/2008, -8/+2Very scientific discovery
- Bluriest, on 08/29/2008, -7/+1Wow, you are so very wrong.
1776-Declaration of Independence.
Columbus died 270+ years before that and 100+ years before the Mayflower expedition.
So very wrong. - blackdaisies, on 08/29/2008, -8/+2I like being reminded that the world is a ginormous place.
- WITFITS, on 08/29/2008, -8/+2They make it sound like it was hard. You just go to Amazon, type "Ancient Lost Settlement" into the search bar, and you're done. Sheesh.
- tucsonsun13, on 08/29/2008, -12/+5Pics or the lostancientamazonioncivilization never existed!
- DreKor, on 08/29/2008, -20/+12Lies. The Americas weren't populated by civilized people until they were originally discovered by Christopher Columbus' Mayflower expedition in 1776.
- inactive, on 08/29/2008, -10/+2Let's give them small pox!
- andrewk21, on 08/29/2008, -9/+1Smart money says this is the lost civilization of Atlantis.
- Morph_Ball, on 08/29/2008, -13/+4I'm not the only one who read the title and thought it was going to be about long-lost settlements on Amazon.com, right?
- dha07030, on 08/29/2008, -10/+1Not this ***** again.
