- jd33, on 10/11/2007, -1/+29That's without a doubt the best 360 degree view from Everest that I've seen today. Thank you.
- Hipple, on 10/11/2007, -5/+25If only my desktop had a 48:9 aspect ration, this would my new wallpaper. Can't have your cake and eat it too.
- skotski, on 10/11/2007, -3/+21 I bet you're a lot of fun to hang out with Mr. Sketch.
- BenHanby, on 10/11/2007, -1/+19Thanks for that amazing view.
I must say, it was significantly easier to click the link than to move to that location myself. Although, I think my ass did budge slightly as I reached for the mouse. I can't be sure though. - Tony611, on 10/11/2007, -2/+20Here's another everest one, you can zoom in and out on this one.

- slapded, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5What's the difference between a Everest Climber and a Golfer?
Golfer goes: Whack, *****! Climber goes : *****, WHACK! - SanjayM, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8And all i can think about is how good a beryl skydome that would make........
- brianbennett, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5...that helps explain why people are crazy enough to climb up there... excellent view.
- blackmh, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Here is another one:
#FFFFFF - subliminalurge, on 10/11/2007, -2/+6How long before someone comes along to claim that it's fake?

- lostradamus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3"Stunning"? Picture looks like it came from a $2 disposable camera.
- kidmaninwar, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I can see my house from here!
- Azio, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4The title should read "Stunning 360 degree view of horrible JPEG compression artifacts".
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6well now i dont need to climb it. THANKS! Saved me a lot of time and effort!
- MikeonTV, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2wow that is stunning.
- callofduty2, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2会当临绝顶,一览众山小
- wattznext, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5This picture is breathtaking!
However, i must point out that Everest is not the tallest mountain on earth. It is however, the highest point from sea level. the tallest mountain on earth is Mauna Kea. Check it out here
http://hypertextbook.com/facts/2001/BeataUnke.shtml
"Mountains are generally measured from sea level, in which case Mount Everest (29,028 feet; 8,848 meters) is king. Hawaii's Mauna Kea, though, rises an astonishing 33,476 feet (10,203 meters) from the depths of the Pacific Ocean floor. Measuring from base to peak, Mauna Kea is the tallest mountain on earth." - rochdale, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I thought it was funny.
- parkermauney, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1What the hell? Wasn't it interesting when I dugg it?
- kden, on 10/11/2007, -7/+8That's absolutely stunning.
- jeffeb3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Don't forget to mention the money. Sherpas aren't cheap, well the gear isn't anyways.
- stevenhood, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Here's an interactive Mt. Everest panorama, where you can zoom in and and look around.
http://www.panoramas.dk/fullscreen2/full22.html - robdiggity, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2@SanjayM
Just tried it, and I can't make it work - it just shows up as all white. Perhaps the image is too big for the skydome memory size? - StalfoS, on 10/11/2007, -3/+4Man.. why did they have to compress the image so much. The JPEG artifacts really detract from the image.
- wedesoft, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You can download the free software "Stellarium" and an Everest panorama from here:
http://www.stellarium.org/
http://www.stellarium.org/wiki/index.php/Landscapes
Then you can stand on Mount Everest and look around. - StriferDiem, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2This is an amazing image. It makes you realize how beautiful our world is, lets hope that Everest is never spoiled.
- MBHoy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Awesome.
And to think, you've achieved all that, but you're only half way home. ;)
Civilization looks to be a long, long way away. :) - hybridcreation, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The blackness at the top is awesome. So much closer to space.
- motivr, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Click the image to see the full size version.
- Diganta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Mother would be "Ma" or is less commonly "Mata". Head is would be "Matha".
"Sagar" could be ocean. As in the name Vidyasagar which means ocean of knowledge. Maybe "sagar" in Nepali
is sky, but in most Sanskrit derived languages sky would be "aakaash". So in order for it to mean forehead of the sky it should be "Aakaashkapaala" which just sounds silly. - tehWyman, on 08/19/2009, -1/+1Would be cooler if it was made in flash.
- randomdude1, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0FTA:
"Sagarmatha" means "forehead of the sky".
*****. Sagarmatha means "Mother of the Ocean" (Sagar = Ocean, matha = mother). Although, why you would call Mt Everest the 'mother of the ocean' is beyond me. - FujiwaraTofu, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I would hate to have climbed to the summit, and in the end realized I forgot my camera at home.
- g00ee, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1thats what I thought at first ... scroll horizontally!
- wrighteq, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Does anyone have a link to a higher quality image? I would love to print it out and put it on my wall, but the quality of the linked image is just too low.
Thanks in advance - CZzyzx41, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1This was great back in the 20th century when I first saw a panorama pic of the summit.
The shocking twist? It's great now, even though I see the picture every year, it never gets old. - therernospoons, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2*cue* the Paramount Pictures animation
- ArchieAndrews, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Click the image to see the full size version.
- Jwoey, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2I so badly want to scroll down on that image. Very neat.
