- feinest, on 10/11/2007, -0/+29That one grain at the top looks like it has an angry mouth.
- houndeyex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+27Wait, new version of minesweeper? What?
- D3koy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+21AMAZING HDR image of Pollen in 3-D [PIC]

Just because you can't get any sex and you use digg doesn't mean everybody who uses digg can't get sex. - D3koy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+14Why is it something that looks cool has to be intelligent design?
On a unrelated note:
That image + Color = Desktop Background... - mzanubis, on 10/11/2007, -4/+15makes a great background.
- withoutashovel, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11THANK YOU for not saying "Best Picture of Pollen EVER"
- GuZ2k7, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11They look like white blood cells and antigens and whatnot..Great pic
- Harbinger67, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9prlme, that triangle was being insolent and the Emperor of the Pollen Sith would not stand for it.
The life of a pollen is not easy. - 2oonhed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8the oval ones look like Sugar Puffs
- Octtopsy, on 10/11/2007, -7/+15That doesn't look like pollen. It looks like my bloodstream after a crazy sex-filled Staurday night romp.
- Firehed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Hence a "three-dimensional appearance" - it's obviously not popping out of the screen.
But thanks for the idea for a sample to check out at work tomorrow. - DoctuhJason, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Yeah, that would be flower sperm...I dunno, why do I still enjoy looking at it?
- Ladymongoose, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8The size that it is on my screen pretty much feels like the size it is in my eyes right now...damn allergies!
- actorboy, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6You like the money shot.
- sofaKing812, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6They look like Nerf products.
- StrangeFamous, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5It's not proof of anything. You forget that these "beautiful" things cause ugly, horrible reactions in people like myself. Does God really want all of us to have unneeded immune reactions? He certainly "designed" us to be that way. God "designed" me with eczema, asthma and hay fever. Thanks, big guy! My immune system is "divinely" screwed up!
- FatBird19, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Looks like a crappy off-brand cereal.
- gfixler, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I grew up in the deep woods, nowhere near cities, and suffered terrible allergies at the hands of the conifers all around me each season, when they'd release their yellow toxic clouds. It would totally knock me on my ass, and I wouldn't even have the energy to play with my Transformers, which was an absolute outrage. Since moving to LA 5 years ago, where there are no plants, or trees, I've had no problems at all, save for occasionally blowing a mess of pollution out of my nose, but it doesn't affect me like ragweed, and conifer pollen did.
I noticed whenever I did anything active, like jogging through the woods, or down the road, or running around at high school soccer practice, on a field boxed in on 3 sides by forest, my allergies would go away entirely, but would then return in force once I cooled back down again, usually on the long ride back home. Maybe you're hiking in the woods, or jogging, and getting your heart rate up? I don't know why it worked, but have long guessed my body just didn't have the energy to supply itself with increased amounts of blood and oxygen, /and/ fight the allergies at the same time, but I have no idea.
Also, allergies can change every 7 years, or so. I think it's called the Pollen Far. - LordStryker, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5*runs and gets my huge bottle of Roundup* Do you feel lucky? Well do ya, pollen?
- grumpy1377, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4wow, i can see now how some people are allergic to pollen
- StrangeFamous, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Too late! They're already here! They're in your carpet, in your clothing, in your hair, on your skin, and in your orifices!!
They took control a long, long time ago, my friend. - EXreaction, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5All images are 2D...where did you get the idea that a 3D image could pop out of your 2D screen?
It didn't say the image was 3D anyways, it said:
"Scanning Electron Microscope images have a characteristic three-dimensional appearance."
EDIT: I am a bit too slow. :P - 0110110, on 10/11/2007, -3/+7Pollution + Pollen = Allergies
Why is it when I'm camping in an area away far away from the city, where the plants grow without restrictions and their are far more weeds all around and bugs and all that and I'm breathing in the same pollen, and there aren't factories around, no pesticides being used, why doesn't it bother me then???? - Capta1nA, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3damn you, pollen!
- hotlunch, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3*****. That's just a black and white photo of a bunch of Koosh balls.
- chadtatro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3AMAZING!
- retral, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6This has to be MUCH more than 500x magnification..
- pfctdayelise, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3More pollen, from the source: http://remf.dartmouth.edu/images/botanicalPollenSEM/
- StrangeFamous, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2@retral:
Yes indeed, they do. We create antigen baths with our self-enclosed, air-restriced homes. In the end, we'll never win the battle against allergens as long as we still have harmful chemicals in our air, water and food. - jakejohnson, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Nature is awesome
- chefdazza, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2i can feel my allergies now...
- MaximumPig, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3@gfixler
"pollen far"
i got it but now i'm sad - CrookedAsterisk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I think the word is "microscopic", not "high resolution." The image is only 1228x935px.
- dogstylee, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2If this were Spiderman 3 pollen, they would all start fighting each other on a microscopic level.
- retral, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4Don't they say the average home's atmosphere is more polluted than outdoors?
