Giant Robots to Stomp Suburbs, Leave Trail of Nature
inhabitat.com — Cute and silly (and theoretical), but it is fun to imagine these beasts taking down row upon row of Best Buys and Radio Shacks (leave IKEA behind, please!). If only they could create perfect bike paths as they went...

- mvandemar, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1Ok, to get the full effect you really need to see the video presentation, with the robots in 3D:

The robots themselves start at just after 0:58... Very, very kewl. :) - paintpro, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1They look quite pleased with their life of destruction. It makes me feel a bit uneasy.
(For anyone who is hesitating, the vid is not a rick roll)

- milohoss, on 04/16/2008, -1/+2hat does not look like a suburb to me, looks like a fairly urban area
- Memesink, on 04/16/2008, -1/+1Much cooler design that the robot lawyers that will be activated once a hobo or two gets processed with the debris.
- tmbrwolf19, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2to be honest, i dugg this simply on how absurd, as well as, cute these things are
- thestrongrope, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2What happens once all the suburbs have been transformed back to nature. I don't think these guys will be too happy getting laid off. I'm just saying, we don't want to piss these GIANT ROBOTS off!
- KevinRWright, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2Simple, we just make a giant robot stomping robot that leaves a trail of...more nature?
- thestrongrope, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2I Like the way you think. GIANT ROBOT WARS!!!!!!

- oldhick, on 04/16/2008, -0/+6Damn, is there a hi-res image of the robot diagram at the bottom? It looked pretty bad ass and I wanted to read up on the detail put into this thing!
- mvandemar, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4As a matter of fact, there is. :) PDF of the presentation is on the original site, download it here:

View it at 200% - 400% to see the text clearly, it rasterizes very nicely.- oldhick, on 04/16/2008, -0/+2Awesome! Thanks.

Now it's a peaceful oasis
you got it, you got it
This was a Pizza Hut
Now it's all covered with daisies
you got it, you got it
I miss the honky tonks,
Dairy Queens, and 7-Elevens
you got it, you got it"

- cutlerite, on 04/16/2008, -1/+1I ***** hate suburbia America.
- mikesbaker, on 04/16/2008, -3/+1right, a robot that demolishes cities and ***** forests... why is this a good idea exactly?
- talonstriker, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5because it demolishes (abandoned) cities and ***** forests
- thestrongrope, on 04/16/2008, -0/+4Exactly!!! What's not to like?
- mikesbaker, on 04/16/2008, -0/+1the entire concept that this thing is based on is flawed. urban sprawl will not one day turn to concentrated urban centers leaving the sprawl unoccupied. it is far more likely that sprawl will one day look like downtowns and downtowns will be giant buildings. the east coast of the united states will likely be turn in to one giant city. all of this will be filled with people. unless there is a major virus that kills off most of the population or something like that this is the most useless idea I have ever heard of.
- talonstriker, on 04/16/2008, -0/+5because it demolishes (abandoned) cities and ***** forests
