GE: C02 Only a "Possible" Contributor to Global Warming
coal-is-dirty.com — Coal-energy powerhouse General Electric states in a May 28th, 2008 press release that "C02 is a possible contributing factor to climate change." This, despite their major "green" marketing efforts and their membership in the US Climate Action Partnership calling for major reductions in C02 emissions.

- bullcutter, on 06/04/2008, -0/+2Interesting, seeing as how they are one of the corporations that stand to gain billions if pollution caps are put in place.
Perhaps they made this statement because they are actually interested in being truthful (anthropogenically-derived atmospheric CO2 makes up less than 1% of the overall greenhouse effect -- natural variations in water vapor [cloud density] are several-fold bigger than this), even though that assumption flies in the face of modern business politics. - kgrandia, on 06/04/2008, -1/+5C02 is 1% of the greenhouse gases in the atmosphere - not a 1% factor in the greenhouse effect. Although it is only 1% of the greenhouse gas it is the most potent and remains in the atmosphere hundreds of more years than water vapor. Just because something is only present in small amounts does not mean it cannot have a massive effect. Look at anthrax - a teeny tiny bit in the air we breathe can kill us.
- scamerica, on 06/05/2008, -0/+1Comparing anthrax with CO2 is stupid and show your complete lack of knowledge in the field of science
