EcoGeeks Get All the Girls
ecogeek.org — In case you needed another reason to care about the environment...turns out girls dig guys who dig environmental technology. According to a study done by GM, almost nine in 10 women say they ’d rather chat up someone with the latest fuel-efficient car versus the latest sports car. But maybe with the Tesla/Karma/etc., you can have both!

- digg it
- cardinalgill, on 05/28/2008, -2/+26do they dig the actual car or the moolah needed to buy $100k+ roadster, hah.
I got to sit in the tesla recently and I'll admit, I felt pretty cool. pics: http://greenhome.huddler.com/forum/thread/329/up-c ...- JettaMan, on 05/29/2008, -0/+4This is some pretty lame propaganda right there. "Girls love it if you... do what we tell you to do."
- caponumen, on 05/28/2008, -4/+66Then again 9/10 girls are fibbers when it comes to money........
- sh4rkb1t3, on 05/29/2008, -1/+3Somebody here isn't telling the truth, and it's either GM, the story, or the women taking the survey. And I'll tell you right now it's probably the women.
Fuel efficient cars like the prius are NOTORIOUSLY unsexy. They make people think you are poor. They are only made by economy car companies - bad image. You will look insecure that you say you are driving it to save the environment, which they know is a lie. Electric cars & hybrids currently have a hippy, leftist, wimpy image to them, which will be projected on you.- rinote, on 05/29/2008, -2/+3If you're saving money because your car is fuel efficient, you have more money than the ***** with the lifted trucks (read: bros). Therefore, money for chocolates and flowers and instantly more attractive.
- sh4rkb1t3, on 05/29/2008, -1/+1Giving a woman chocolates and flowers is SUPPLICATION that makes you look weaker in her eyes.
- hummerlover, on 07/08/2008, -0/+0I doubt that, since the guys with the lifted trucks puts $1,000 (s) into that truck to get it lifted. Not to mention that their truck is more expensive than the Prius, to begin with. There forth, they really do not need to "save" money on some kind of toy wind up vehicle, that puts them and others into danger. I have read more articles that states the Pius traction control is so dangerous and it doesn't shift correctly in the snow. Other Prius drivers have told me that they have almost slid off the road and into oncoming cars/SUV's.
So yes, I absolutely agree with sh2rkb1t3, when they state that others do look at fuel efficient car drivers as having less means to buy the large SUV/ or larger sedan. If not, why exactly would you put your life into such danger?
- rinote, on 05/29/2008, -2/+3If you're saving money because your car is fuel efficient, you have more money than the ***** with the lifted trucks (read: bros). Therefore, money for chocolates and flowers and instantly more attractive.

- seraph582, on 05/28/2008, -7/+65no they dont
- mywhitenoise, on 05/28/2008, -1/+10They really don't. A lot of the women I know are shallow and give me ***** for trying to be more conservative with energy and waste, by turning off lights, recycling at work, etc. Then they brag about their SUVs and say my car (Prius) is ugly.
- OffPiste, on 05/29/2008, -4/+14Well they're right about your Prius being ugly.
- OnlyGirlOnDigg, on 05/29/2008, -5/+7I'd rather chat up the guy with the Prius than the guy with the Mustang. Then again, I'm the president of the Environmental Club at school, so I guess that make me a bit biased.
- dOOBiEx213, on 05/29/2008, -3/+10What makes you think the guy with the Mustang wants to hook up with you when he can get with a hot chick?
- OnlyGirlOnDigg, on 05/29/2008, -4/+7What makes you think that I'd be interested in a duchebag who only cares about how I look? Plus I'm a cyclist and probably in better shape than most.
- thetinguy, on 05/29/2008, -1/+1Somehow when I think about you all I can think of is a manatee.
- zombies187, on 05/30/2008, -0/+2Look at this *****! A woman can't even be president of a school club without being criticized for looks no one has seen. Is that how you guys feel or is this what passes for humor to you?
- jlm408, on 05/29/2008, -1/+5As a girl, I applaud your car choice. Plus, you can laugh in those other girls' faces and ask them if they still love their SUVs with gas prices being what they are today.
- OnlyGirlOnDigg, on 05/29/2008, -6/+6I think your Prius is beautiful, and that your efforts in recycling and conservation are noble.
- Drogoganor, on 05/29/2008, -4/+8Both of you girls are liars.
- sup3rnautx, on 05/29/2008, -1/+2that was completely unecessary,lol.
they were complimenting you; i don't receive too many compliments for saving our mother, but that doesn't mean you gotta discount the ones that do infact care.
while there are some that are interested in the environment and the chaps the protect it, i would wager a majority of women find more expensive SUV's and sports cars more attractive than a compact, consumption reducing vehicle. Lets be honest, the more money you can blow on gas means the more financially and well established you are (which directly correlates with one's ability to "take care" of a woman).
and like previous posts, the statistics are probably false; woman are very willing to lie about how much money means to them. its all about sexual and mental posturing that women have to maintain in order to keep their "requirements" when it comes to men. - danomagnum, on 05/29/2008, -2/+2Kind of a given.

BS - They are attracted to the shiniest/cutest car they see- lbdinh, on 05/29/2008, -0/+2Where did they get these stats? Girls from the environmental club? Too bad there's still that 1 out of 10 that likes sports cars.
- MadHarvey, on 05/29/2008, -0/+0So was: "It doesn't matter what kind of car they drive" an option? I'd like think that 9/10 girls would respond that way, but its hard to judge since I have never spoken to one, directly.
- Fangsinmybeard, on 05/28/2008, -4/+2Certainly an enticement for guy's to consider the future economically and ecologically, so they can get the girls. Sex sells these days, but watch out for the green wash.

Oh, sure, cuz that's why guys buy nice cars... to spend all night having hot, sweaty, "conversation" with the ladies. - elamr, on 05/28/2008, -0/+62yeah, doubt it.
I drive a very fuel efficient Toyota Corolla. A Corolla is NOT a babe magnet. In fact, it is the opposite. It is birth control. Granted, I'm no Denzel Washington (I'm more like bald Urkel), but if I drove a Lamborgini, I could look like Biz Markie and get laid.- Sornos, on 05/29/2008, -1/+1The image conjured by a "bald Urkel" made my snort. - Hobobaggins, on 05/28/2008, -2/+4Girls don't want to talk about cars. Perhaps they would prefer eco friendly vehicles because they have heard of more about them. Try to walk up and engage a girl in conversation about cars, and watch how fast you get 1) maced 2) left talking to yourself 3) politely excused
- cquinnd, on 05/28/2008, -0/+3Depends on what you mean by a conversation about cars.
Does a girl want to hear you brag about your power to weight ratio? Probably not. Does a girl want to hear about you taking her on a nice drive downtown for some window shopping?- whahaa, on 05/29/2008, -0/+0more shopping? does this relate to that being a good provider thing? and don't you have enough shoes already? two pairs is enough, yes it is.

Because GM is too damn lazy to make THEIR OWN vehicles fuel efficient so they come up with some BS competition for others to make their cars more efficient and then take the ideas. Hire some young engineers and fire those old bastards who make the same car every year but just a bit bigger and less MPG.
And while your at it get better designers for the cars too. I am sick and tired of seeing the paint jobs on cars in the 50's, 60's and 70's that are a ton better then the cars now. Every car is the same shade of red, blue, green, etc. Try two-tone, three-tone, a different shade of red, anything just please GET ORIGINAL YOU LAZY BASTARDS.

I don't have a "eco friendly" car because I am 6'4 and all torso, like a giant toddler really, and my knee starts hurting to the point my leg goes numb when I drove my little Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V. In my Ram its not a problem, now I am looking at a Dodge Magnum, better on gas than my truck but I am going for the HEMI because I just love to drive.

- Weejay, on 05/29/2008, -1/+5What amazes me when reading those comments is that the image that women love money is prevalent among men. The rule is that if a majority of people share a belief then there might be some truth about it. Makes you wonder. I wish some woman could post a comment one day to confirm what we all think. Also, as sexist as it sounds, women usually care less about issues like politics, the environment and all that jazz so I call ***** on the "ecogeek chick magnet".

- spacerobot, on 05/29/2008, -0/+5what a crappy study. "The Challenge X Survey was conducted from February 20-28, 2008 by Kelton Research. In total, 500 interviews were fielded online. "
Let's see. It was funded by GM. It was done online- oh yeah, great external validity. Who is going to participate in a study about cars online? No random sampling there.
"During fieldwork, quotes were set to ensure a reliable and accurate read that was representative of U.S. consumers, ages 18 or older, who plan to purchase or lease a car in the next two years."
Oh ok. So now the study is about Americans over 18 who are planning on buying a car. Guess the chicks won't dig my environmentally friendly car since I'm not planning on purchasing a vehicle in the next two years. And what does "quotes were set" mean? I have my degree in psychology and have done my fair share of reviewing experiments and studies, but I have no idea what "setting quotes" is. can anyone fill me in?
And once again, what a crappy study. - punx, on 05/29/2008, -2/+3I really love geeks, but environmentalists are just a pain in the ass. I don't care what car they drive or bike they ride. They don't get any because they are annoying turds, sorry.
- gquaglia, on 06/01/2008, -0/+2Don't forget that they usually smell funny too.
- tman152, on 05/29/2008, -1/+0whether a girl likes you fro having a porsche or having a a prius, its called the same thing, SHALLOW. if they judge your worth by the things you own then they are not worth your time. I hate priuses, they are ugly and boring as hell to drive. driving is something I enjoy enormously, and when I choose a car I choose cars that I will enjoy driving (I have a 2001 Audi S4 Avant).
maybe the reason these girls dont like the guys in the sports cars is because in the USA most of these guys get those cars for the wrong reason, most girls I know think that people get porches and Ferraris to show off and get girls, which is probably true most of the time. There are a few people who get these cars because driving them is incredibly fun, a fun that plaing videogames (I love videogames) can never come close too.
guys who get sportscars with an automatic transmition are the types that do it for the ladies attentions and need objects to impress girls because they probably lack some confidence, the guys who get them with manual transmition like to drive, know what they like and therefore get the girls not because of their car but because of their self assurance. probably the same self assurance that the guys who just want a car to get them from point A to point B such as a prius.
If I did not see a car as more than a mode of transportation (its more of a passion/hobby for me) then I would get a car that would cost me the least amount of money possible but as enjoying what I drive is important enough for me to spend more money on gas since it has a dual purpouse, being fun and bringing me where I need to go. gas prices being so low in the USA (in Europe where i'm from gas prices are about 7-8 dollars a gallon and they have been for over a decade)
the assholes who get these incredible cars to show off put a bad stigma on them which I find lamentable. case and point the corvette, an incredible car that is almost as fun to drive as a ferrari and it costs about 40,000 dollars. to people like me that car would be incredible a supercar at supermarket prices only thing is the only people driving those cars at 50 year olds trying to cling on to youth. and its noticeable that these are the only ones driving corvettes because they only buy them in the brightest colors possible (yellow, red)
I don't bore girls about cars, I dont feel like talking about cars all the time, its just a passion that I express by driving.
sorry to go on a tangent like that I just feel very strongly about cars and driving, and since I came to the united states good cars are mostly used to show the world how well off people are. which gives a bad name to those like me who enjoy driving. - Barackalypse, on 05/29/2008, -1/+3Until a meat eating, carbon spewing, gun toting, anarcho-capitalist comes along in a luxury sedan and they leave your pathetic pacifist, vegan, hippy self in your overpriced little earthmobile all alone
