- uptwolait, on 01/17/2009, -0/+66That must have shocked all the migratory birds when they arrived down south.
- SheilaNoya, on 01/17/2009, -3/+41YIKES!
It's 78 degrees and sunny in Los Angeles today. We've got our own problems here, but the weather is never one of them.
I hope you folks in the frozen parts of America are finding ways to keep warm! I feel sorry for anyone having to pay heating bills in this crappy economy. - angel.wardriver, on 01/17/2009, -1/+32Wouldn't expect a Southerner to need to go to Alaska to "warm up" during the winter.
- gbudavid, on 01/17/2009, -11/+33Climate Change???
- keltin, on 01/18/2009, -0/+15I saw an article in a northern Cal paper today about Brown Pelicans who were caught in some storms on the NW coast and got some appendages frostibtten. I think they were believing the Warmth of the South had arrived.
- FaithclubDotNet, on 01/18/2009, -2/+16Sweet home Alalaska.
- KSUdesigner, on 01/18/2009, -0/+11Hell is located in Michigan.

no. - PhantomPhoenix, on 01/18/2009, -0/+10I wish the article had photos of those fountains...
- MoisturePoints, on 01/18/2009, -17/+27I blame global warming.
Wait what's it called again? Oh yeah, now it's called global climate change. Unreal. What a bunch of crap. - oriondr, on 01/18/2009, -1/+11I'm getting tired of all these stories about how cold it is in places like Britain and Alabama, like 10 degrees. Meanwhile here in minnesota its like -22.
- keltin, on 01/18/2009, -4/+13I actually Dugg Sheila...there's always hope! Up Noath, it's pretty sunny, but not LA Hot!

- anthropodeus, on 01/18/2009, -5/+13looks like God accidentally the heat
- Jahian, on 01/18/2009, -0/+8Oh boo hoo, it might be warmer in Alaska right now, but we just got out of a 3 week period where it never got above -30 and had lows of -60.
- Ajajadude, on 01/18/2009, -2/+10I'd suggest reading a few scientific papers or attending a few climate classes before you spout popular Fox News talking points.
- KSUdesigner, on 01/18/2009, -0/+7$170 last month for my small 900 sq. ft. house. Don't even want to think about what this month is going to cost.
- KDX200rider, on 01/18/2009, -16/+23Has anyone been able to reach Al Gore? He seems to hibernate during the colder months. Perhaps he is too busy counting the profits that his global warming marketing scam has generated.
Global Warming the new mindless faith. - yurishoujo, on 01/18/2009, -1/+8Welcome to what Minnesotans see every winter. :P
- JupiterSSJ4, on 01/18/2009, -0/+7it costs you 1000-1200 dollars to heat your apartment???? ***** That's more than double my rent for a 1024 sq ft apartment!! My gas bill has 85, the highest it has even been by about 15 bucks this last month
With temps at -12 these past few days its going to be higher this month I suppose - Janinco, on 01/18/2009, -1/+8It was sunny and 60 degrees here in Colorado today, and yesterday I talked to my daughter who is at college in Arkansas and she said it was snowing and FREEZING!
- inactive, on 01/18/2009, -0/+6Its been the most beautiful week of weather this past week in CA. 75 and nothing but blue sky and ocean breeze.
- Muler36, on 01/18/2009, -0/+6I wanted to see this fountain that turned into an ice sculpture!
- inactive, on 01/18/2009, -2/+8your right, the intense cold is "masking" the warming trend......:P
- Barackalypse, on 01/18/2009, -6/+12Except they're calling it climate change now, since its a safe bet the weather is always going to change, so they can continue to point to anything that happens as "proof" something is wrong and we MUST ACT IMMEDIATELY.
- 2Six119, on 09/10/2009, -0/+5move?
- consoneo, on 01/18/2009, -3/+8Why the hell do you think that? The article specifically states that the record temperature for that date is 1 degree and was set in 1972...
- codyman, on 01/18/2009, -10/+15and since Alabama is hell, does this mean that hell is freezing over?
- Anzat, on 01/18/2009, -0/+5For context, it IS unusually warm in Alaska right now. It was 52 here in Fairbanks on Friday, which was the record warmest day for all of January, ever.
- fourfifteen01, on 01/18/2009, -0/+5Heh....it was -45F here (Fairbanks, AK) less than a week ago (before the windchill factor). A Chinook blew in, causing the unusually warm weather up here. This is the first time we have seen weather about 0F since October. Don't feel THAT bad for those guys.
- Xvash2, on 01/18/2009, -4/+9Just as I read this, a commercial to beg people to stop global warming came on.
- herro, on 01/18/2009, -1/+6""No matter how bad it is, it could be worse — we could be in Anchorage, Alaska," Johnson said. Actually, the temperature was about 20 degrees warmer in Anchorage on Friday."
fail. - 2Six119, on 09/10/2009, -0/+5Aw shiit. Mark flew us in the wrong direction, C'mon guys we're going back to Montana!
- jarcaf, on 01/19/2009, -0/+4Weather is an indicator of climate. Weather is an indicator of climate. Weather is an indicator of climate.
This COULD be the result of climate change. But it probably isn't. - Trollemite, on 01/18/2009, -0/+4My in-laws live out that way so every time I go to their place I go through hell.
- axlhardd, on 01/18/2009, -9/+13Weather is not the same as climate. Weather is not the same as climate. Weather is not the same as climate. Weather is not the same as climate. I would have stopped 3 sentences ago, but maybe you people will finally get it.
- Xvash2, on 01/18/2009, -0/+4Yeah, but the record high for that day was 74 degrees in 1932. At that rate, we should be in an ice age by now!
- say592, on 01/18/2009, -0/+4We hit -18 here in Indiana. As low as -45 with wind chill.
A terrible, terrible season to not have heat working in my car... - peaceninja, on 01/18/2009, -0/+4im visiting SC from MA during the cold spell...and believe me, 18 degrees in SC is colder than 18 degrees in MA due to the humidity.
- theaceoffire, on 01/18/2009, -0/+3Yeah, its bitterly cold here... but it was like 80 F during Christmas Break, so yeah, we get mostly nice warm weather.
- jerstud56, on 01/18/2009, -0/+3http://maps.google.com/maps?source=ig&hl=en&am ...
- anthropodeus, on 01/18/2009, -0/+3Hell is located on Mars.
- Toshibi, on 01/18/2009, -0/+3I live 7 miles north of SC, in NC...it was 10 degrees this morning at 6AM.
- Ghostalker, on 01/18/2009, -2/+5Where's their god now?
- Ajajadude, on 01/18/2009, -3/+6The warming of the planet can lead to regional and even global cooling.
I've gotten tired of typing out the whole thing, but read this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shutdown_of_thermohal ...
Basically, warming could lead to the shutdown of this system resulting in regional cooling. It's believed this process shuts down naturally over a long period of time while the planet heats up over a long period time (generally caused by natural events) in order to help counteract any sort of "global warming" event. - idontlikeyou2, on 01/18/2009, -2/+5It probably doesn't hurt to try and at least read something once in a while. Patternicity gives everyone a headache.
- inactive, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3I wonder what the CO2 output was for producing the commercial, and how muc CO2 did you produce watching it?
Ever seen that moron Ed Bagley with his TV show to prevent global warming? The camera's are made from recycled rubber, and the electricity to run the cameras and lights is created by the shows producer running on a large hamster wheel! - inactive, on 01/19/2009, -0/+3Phew! At least Californians have reasonable taxes to make up for the low heating bills!!
- Whackly, on 01/18/2009, -2/+5Minnesotans complaining about cold is like fish complaining about being wet. If you don't like it, move. I lived there. I hated everything about MN outside of the TC. OH has a lot more ignorant hillbillies and if you thought the bible thumping in central MN was bad you couldn't even imagine living less than 2 hours away from the "Creation Museum." It's all worth it, though, because I very rarely have to blow dry my balls to stop them freezing to my leg when I go outside.
- fallentree, on 01/18/2009, -0/+3Why not mention that its been minus 30 for months here in Anchorage and this warm spell is a fluke from chinook winds?
