- Melkor71, on 07/23/2008, -6/+34 Clearly, passing grade school chemistry isn't a requirement to become a politician these days. But then again, when was it ever?
- duckyinc, on 07/23/2008, -0/+25Carbon Dioxide is Carbon Dioxide, it's the same no matter from what source it comes from.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -3/+26Bush is also thinking about changing the definition of H20 to boost Coke sales
- steveoco, on 07/23/2008, -10/+30The American government is just a joke. A joke and the rest of the world really is laughing. However, it is a joke with very real consequences for the American people and innocent people around the world.
It has to stop. - jei731, on 07/23/2008, -8/+28Do not worry people, Bush Fake Science will save the planet.
- hauntedchippy, on 07/23/2008, -3/+18Wait til he's in office and starts redefining science to meet his own ends, then you'll see it.
- Stavrosian, on 07/23/2008, -1/+16I hate this attitude. No matter how much ***** this administration and its fellows pull, there are always people willing to call you biased for pointing it out.
Not everything has to be about partisan politics. Your politician of choice is not like a sports team - you are not required to defend them come fair weather or foul. When they pull shady stunts, you are supposed to call them on it, not blindly swing the "but look at the other guy" bat. - inactive, on 07/23/2008, -1/+14Wtf does that have to do with redefining what constitutes a CO2 emission?
And please, don't get your info from dumb videos.

- jstancom, on 07/23/2008, -0/+10Brawndo! It's what plants crave!
- CourtesyFlush, on 07/23/2008, -13/+23Well....the headline contains the words BUSH and CRONIES.
It also alleges that something stupid has already been done, even though nothing in the article suggests that this brain fart got anywhere.
MakiMaki certainly knows the Digg equation:
Buzzwords + Lying headline = Popularity
Apparently, politicians aren't the only folks who will tweak the truth for their own benefit. - hauntedchippy, on 07/23/2008, -0/+9ah youtube, the greatest source of scientific knowlegde the human race has ever known.
- AoiTakuma, on 07/23/2008, -1/+10Wild fires are natural disasters. Natural being the key word there. Of course "fire prevention" techniques have caused them to occur less frequently but with greater intensity, which makes them more harmful to us. Finally, the carbon being released by forest fires is not carbon that has been stored in the ground for the past few million years, it is still an active part of the carbon cycle. Oil, coal and natural gas are not.
- takamalak, on 07/23/2008, -4/+12We breath it out for a reason you dumb ass.

- Delphium226, on 07/23/2008, -5/+12Faith based science if you please.
- nick111, on 07/23/2008, -0/+7Really?
I mean is this your realpolitik? Is this the level of reasoning you base your descisions on??
No wonder you're *****. - PawnsOfJoshua, on 07/23/2008, -0/+7Doesn't it seem strange how this baseless George Bush attack, at no point in the article or the video, EVER even mentions George Bush, and it only references one of his advisers who simply asked a legitimate question regarding the classification of CO2 emissions from a legal scope (not a chemical scope like Mr. Burnett at the so evidently biased submitter are implying)?
Don't get me wrong - I hate me some GW Bush. All I am saying is that he has given us enough legitimate reasons to hate him that we don't have to undermine the real issues by jumping on every bull ***** bandwagon that rolls through digg.com. - DerangedPenguin, on 07/23/2008, -1/+8"Bush Cronies Redefined ‘Carbon Dioxide' to Help Polluters" This must be an article from The Onion.
Bush and Cronies: liberal-fascism mantra # 1 all conservatives are gangsters with cronies
Carbon: liberal-fascism mantra # 2, 3 and 4 Carbon is the most frightening thing in the world, once we get rid off all Carbon based chemistry, then we can concentrate on Nitrogen soon all that will be left will be pure clean Oxygen.
Dioxide: Di sounds like die which sounds like something that happens in Bush's war against the indigenous peoples of Iraq, putting Di in front of Oxide makes Oxygen evil, Bush is making Oxygen evil also. Bush must be stopped, please give funds to the Bush Legacy Bush Tour.
Help Polluters: Liberal-Fascism Mantra # 5 All industry just wants to poison the Earth and kill everything off, conservatives are behind all that is evil in the world. Never mind the Liberal-Fascist supporter driving the Land Rover with the Obama08 bumper sticker at 90 MPH sucking down hydrocarbons faster than my Mini at 60 MPH.
Sigh this article is a complete waste of electricity. It was written on a computer, stored on servers, distributed via the Internet and viewed on computers. How many Kilowatts worth of electricity, produced by Polluters helped by Bush, did it take for someone to read this article? - nick111, on 07/23/2008, -0/+7Only idiots believe this.
Renewable energy is THE economic opportunity of the 21st century. - inactive, on 07/23/2008, -2/+9Oh ffs do we really have to put up with this crap? Global warming is a scientific issue, not a political one. There is no great conspiracy, and the manipulations you should be worried about should be the Republicans, who see this as an excellent opportunity to put forth their "We can't trust scientists" *****. The scientists may be right, they may be wrong, we'll find out in time. But please, stop with this whole "scientists are trying to manipulate and control us" *****, which is feeding right into Republicans' desires to establish this nation as a Christian theocracy.
- Virtualtaco, on 07/23/2008, -1/+8This isn't CNN...
- mpaige, on 07/23/2008, -0/+6"Digger redefines article title to reach front page of Digg!"
- brettg102, on 07/23/2008, -2/+8...I'm about ready to quit this site.
- squidgravy, on 07/23/2008, -0/+6I'm so sick and tired of this worthless debate. Once again lets all jump on the "Bash Bush Bandwagon". Maybe if we all work hard enough we can blame the crucifixion of Christ on the Bush administration as well. Probably some secret time travel device that Bush himself concocted to go back and alter Biblical history. And maybe, just maybe, those evil and harmful CO2 emissions were created at the hands of the Bush administration for some obscure and deviant purpose of cooking every man, woman and child on the face of the planet simply to see if they can do it.
Get a job people.... Wake up!!! Global warming is a concoction of the left wing liberal democrats (and Al Gore too) for the eventual creation of a Global Energy Government that can tax at will the air you breath and control the monetary value of every single living being, state, and country on the planet. Hence the creation of the One World Government.
If you want to live in a third world environment, by all means I wont stop you. Just do it somewhere else so that you don't infringe on my way of life. You can have your horse and buggy, a candle lit mud hut, and an out house do your thinking, be my guest. Maybe you should all move to the rain forests of South America or the plains of Africa and start a tribe or something.
The Global Warming frenzy is not about saving the planet, it's about Government and money. - jaxcs, on 07/23/2008, -1/+7If you are interested in truth, rationality and science, it is seriously wrong to try and define carbon from industry as different from carbon from cars. The partisan isn't the guy giving testimony, it's people like you who gives cover to the Bush admin for trying to do outragous things. You are so deep in denial about global warming that you give Bush a pass for trying to define carbon. That's just crazy.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5No alchemy left behind?
- FearNoEvil, on 07/23/2008, -7/+12The people that think CO2 is a problem are fools! It's a scam! We're being played by the Global Elite! Get a clue people!!

- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -2/+7You know those labels on cleaning products?
They were made by the UN too, they're all perfectly safe to drink. - DerangedPenguin, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5No please we need you here to digg down the idiots, and support the logical thinkers.
- 2matrix, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5don't forget Al Gore redefined Global Warming to make money off of carbon credits.....
who even reads thinkprogress.org ? - Birdie1111, on 07/23/2008, -8/+13Digg is becoming a soap box for the liberals. Does Al Gore run Digg??? What a joke. I guess this is par for the course. What about Obama and his utter stupidity about running this country. Everyone says he will bring CHANGE. Well, be careful what you wish for you might get it.
- Stavrosian, on 07/23/2008, -3/+8I'll lock you in an airtight room. We'll see if you still don't think the stuff you breathe out will kill you.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5Who benefited the most from 9/11? George W. Bush. Follow the dollar signs. No, I'm not a Truther, just wanted to demonstrated the ridiculousness of that logic.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -2/+7Find me a real source and maybe I'll believe it.
- Virtualtaco, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5How embarrassing being someone who thinks your political party instantly means you support anyone in that political party must be.
- MikeFallopian, on 07/23/2008, -2/+7This story is incredibly misleading. The supreme court case MA vs. EPA resulted in a ruling stating that the EPA is required to regulate tailpipe emissions from automobiles. It did not specifically address CO2 emissions from power plants; the ambiguity has to do with the scope of the ruling, not the definition of CO2.
- IKORKYI, on 07/23/2008, -1/+6HAVE done nothing about it
- DerangedPenguin, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Why should they do anything. They care about as much for the Earth as the paper clip sitting on my desk. They are only in politics for: 1) The lifetime retirement checks
2) The Lifetime Medical Benefits
3) The pleasure of ruling over the uneducated masses of voters.
- CourtesyFlush, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4That's the inherent flaw with a website that is specifically designed to reward popularity over accuracy.
It attracts the masses who want to be popular at any cost....and drives the minority who favor accuracy away.
The average digger believes that digging a total piece of ***** will magically make it true. We see it time and time again.
Unfortunately for Digg.com, Popularity != Credibility. Lies will never become the truth, regardless of how many thousands of diggs a POS article receives. - inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4In other news, Al Gore cronies redefine CO2 as a pollutant.
Next up, a look at one of the most toxic, dangerous substances known to man, Dihydrous Oxide. - 360news, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4How come there are 5 (count em FIVE) front page articles at the moment that are all submitted by MakiMaki and are all thinkprogress.org articles?
God I hope Google DOES buy digg ! - roodammy44, on 07/23/2008, -1/+5Idiot.
30%er eh? - Murdats, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4I am sick of seeing this claim.
the fact the number keeps changing and it comes from people who are almost defiantly not scientists makes it seems like this is just some talking point people have picked up, so unless you can provide a reliable sources, stop spreading lies. - JeremyGrieves, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6Pray the carbon away.
