http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/isabel.asp - vroom101, on 10/11/2007, -0/+70Cool picture, yes. Hurricane, no.
- subxero37, on 10/11/2007, -3/+64If you say "pic" in the title, do you really need to put "[PIC]" after it?
- RooDoG, on 10/11/2007, -2/+34Refer to this story http://www.theburningbiscuit.com/HowGullibleAreWe.html
- LucasVB, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26Alright then, here's an actual picture of Hurricane Katrina's eye: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/dd/Hurricane_Katrina_Eye_viewed_from_Hurricane_Hunter.jpg
- trogdorBURN, on 10/11/2007, -2/+22Old as the internets.
- WestDC, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18I like where this thread is going.
- razrielle, on 10/11/2007, -4/+16Its a cool picture, ive seen it on here before but so what, many new members, great pic. let the masses see
- BamaStangGuy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Welcome to 2001
- shark615, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11Hurricane? With flat seas that close. Fat chance.
Also not a cloud formation typical in hurricanes. Also this one just a few weeks ago. The second article that is barely a few weeks old. A few years yes ok dupe it but holy ***** a week? - ydt89, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11its crazy to see how peaceful it is (or at least looks) above the hurricane, compared to whats going underneath.
- ark4ng3l, on 10/11/2007, -0/+9http://www.snopes.com/photos/natural/isabel.asp has pics.
- moped12, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11Looks like that ship's bearing will need adjust sometime soon...
- knulpm, on 10/11/2007, -1/+9It may be awesome but is it..AMAZING! ?
- tehWyman, on 08/19/2009, -1/+8Bears. Beets. Battlestar Gallactica.
- linksus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6NOT ! a hurricane. Its a gust front probably from a supercell thunderstorm ( or just a large storm )
- J6stik, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6It's old and inaccurate. I can't decide which one to bury it for.
- adarkmethod, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6neither dugg nor buried, kool pic, false info
- phanfo, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6thanks for taking the time to let us all know that, if you have seen it why would you even click it, it isn't like the content doesn't change ever 15 minutes.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Yes.
Besides that, rudimentary knowledge in meteorology or just cloud formations for that matter would tell you these are not hurricanes. But wait, we can pull back even farther - All you need is a rudimentary familiarity with SCALE and you will note that the breadth of a hurricane would not fit in a single photo from sea level. - bilangew, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Wow, Dugg for the "Already seen in on Digg but im not whining at all" spirit :)
- danpat, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Buried by Snopes
- AZTriGuy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Ironic that this is right above the story "How gullible are we?" on the front page...
- roadtrippy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Geezus, this picture is so old...
- 4UIDigg, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5now, that explains why the ship was heading toward it
- DanH, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4wow, a crappy, false email forward from 2004 makes it on the digg front page... anyone suprised?
- quez, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6Not real. Pretty obviously not real to anyone who knows anything at all about weather. Buried.
But even if it were real, I'd probably bury it for 'awesome'. Just because I'm an ***** like that. - awesty, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Old picture, false information.
- chicagobiker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3OMG, this is photoshopped FAKE from like 2 years ago!
- DrMilkdad, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3We have not been rocked like a hurricane
- clafleche, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Welcome to 1998! Enjoy your stay.
- satx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5I think I would turn around if I were in that position. Just me.
- Pheter, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3It still looks pretty cool though.
- Luigi239, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Looks like the server got blown away...
/pun - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Buried as totally ***** inaccurate you idiots.
I look forward to Mike Hollingshead's uncredited chase photos showing up next week as pictures of Katrina's landfall. - TBNK, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I can't beleive it, when i first got my computer (about 6 years ago) this picture was one of the first pictures that i got emailed to me by a friend. And now gaining interest on digg?
This is happening more and more.
I think people need to be more carefull when people submit articles to digg that they are slightly more current - not about 6 + years old. - bacchus101, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The wayback machine called and is requesting a royalty payment...
- Arkayne, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I bet that was embarrassing.
- mbreed2006, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Totally faked. That's a wall cloud from a supercell, the precursor to a tornado. They form from vertical movement of air... where the hell's the upper half of the storm?
- mablco, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2penn & teller are *****
- lindajeff, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Really Cool Photos
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Can't be Reddit, because I can actually stand to look at this for more than 2 seconds.
- aikimann, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Regarding Snopes' reliability, http://xkcd.com/c250.html
- Angostura, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Only the last one on that page is a hurricane. The rest are not.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2It's been on Digg many times under this same hideously inaccurate context and nobody seems to get it. Now we have a bunch of idiots who think thunderstorm cell == hurricane.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3why the crap do people keep digging it?
Collected via e-mail, 2003. 2003?! - odganarb, on 10/30/2007, -4/+5I think you mean heading.
- mishabear, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Having seen these clouds in the midwest and seen the waters near hurricanes, the Great Lakes explaination makes the most sense to me.
