- lovemorgul, on 12/05/2008, -2/+16There is no need to long lines when you can go around everyone in your electric bike.
- Jektal, on 12/05/2008, -2/+14Personally, I'd rather go around the world ON an electric bike. Seems safer that way.
- cawpin, on 12/05/2008, -1/+9"His goal: Travel all 5 continents on an electric bike."
ALL 5? There's 7. - webkami, on 12/05/2008, -5/+13How he is going to drive it on the sea?
http://www.electricbicycleworldtour.com/?page_id=5 ...
why not just submit the original website instead of blog?
Also it is World Tour, NOT Around the world - clintmaher, on 04/21/2009, -3/+10Great article and what an achievement.
- cam0man, on 12/05/2008, -1/+7"to promote the use of cleaner energy and the non-reliance on fossil fuel."
why not just ride a regular bike then.....and promote the non-reliance on both electricity and fossibl fuel.
I feel like the amount of high fives i'd get for driving a prius around the world to promote alternative fuel would be rather low. - sladek, on 12/05/2008, -0/+5All five? there are seven!
- Pwelborn1, on 12/05/2008, -0/+5Why are people still looking at this as a cause. Being green has nothing to do with morality, or wrong or right. It comes down to how expensive it is. That's just the reality of it. In many cases it is cheaper, in some it's more expensive. But the world is not going to become more "Aware" because you put a lot of effort into something they would never use.
- deadapostle, on 12/05/2008, -1/+4Did someone build a bridge across the oceans or something?
- jerrycan, on 12/05/2008, -0/+3LOL! Nice itinerary....I doubt he'll make it out of central America without the bike being stolen. If he makes it back to Europe alive, I'd be surprised....
- JasonsLan, on 12/05/2008, -0/+3we turned "America" in to two continents in 1914
- slicenglide, on 12/05/2008, -1/+4Why do people think electricity is clean? Don't they know that most power in the world is generated by coal plants that are very polluting? Jeeezus.
- Fustigations, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2You can.
- superkendall, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2How sad he was already beat out by the guy with the electric car, before he even started...
- rlbigfish, on 12/05/2008, -0/+2The IT.
- chicagojacobs, on 12/05/2008, -2/+4Wow that is just incredible. I wish I could really do something amazing like that.
- marsbeyond, on 12/06/2008, -0/+1I bought a 600 watt electric bike for $420 NEW off of craiglist in Seattle. If I can afford it, anyone can. Tim Moran still sells them. Even if you use it only twice a week you will save $50 bucks a week. That is a payback period of what, two months? This is a no-brainer! You will be healthier and the planet will be greener!
- 1hrSleep, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Especially since there aren't any cars on sidewalks... =D
- TrnsltLife, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Not in Europe there aren't. They don't count Antartica, presumably because it's not very inhabited, and they don't count North and South America as separate continents. There's just "America".
In retaliation, I propose we Western Hemisphere dwellers count Europe, Africa, and Asia as a single continent (they're all connected after all, or they were, before the Suez Canal) and promote Greenland and Madagascar to continental status in their place. - RMartinBikes, on 02/23/2009, -0/+1Hi,
Checked your profile on Black Planet. We are an Electric Vehicles/Transport firm and would feel glad to add you in our network.

(On behalf of R Martin Bikes.) - NicolasHansen, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1I wonder if he'll cross paths with the guy in his solar powered car?
- mdjohnson1, on 12/05/2008, -3/+4I tried it one time, but I could only go as far as my extension cord would let me go.
- 4degrees, on 12/05/2008, -2/+3"June 7. Fell off near yorkshire.."
- partrow, on 12/05/2008, -1/+2Is he lacking productive employment?
- FredFredrickson, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1IN an electric bike, and not ON it? What is this, the story of drug smuggling?
- adkenc, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1next you'll be saying Pluto is a planet...
- toekneebullard, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Agreed. I feel like people who ride electric bikes are just cheating themselves. Why bike without the benefit of the exercise?
- Swivelstick, on 12/06/2008, -0/+1Buried as spam for that very reason.
- hiPpymIck, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1his bike video Bejing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFOjDYHUo-E&eur ... - sladek, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1You're right, Europe doesn't have an continents.
But there are seven, which ever way you look at it. - vault, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1Yeah but this isn't like being the first person to fly around the world in airplane. This is just a hippy making a statement.
- uberchaoslord, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1"Green" people are just displacing their guilt - out of sight out of mind, so if I don't see tailpipe emissions, then my car must be clean and green!
- Jeepinator, on 12/05/2008, -0/+1It's also stupid. Do it on a conventional bike.
- mparker21311, on 12/05/2008, -2/+2I was hoping they would have some way to regenerate some electric power for manual cranking as well with some strategically placed solar panels.
I would consider riding an electric energy regenerating bike everywhere if there were a way to boost speeds a bit and make it safer. Think about it, we need to save some green $$$, lose some weight, and make my "green" contribution to making our world healthier.
It's an obvious win. - browe07, on 12/05/2008, -1/+1There's a hamster that powers it and will be riding inside.
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -0/+0The line still boggles me. So was it you, Mersonix? You're the only who's never done it? Makes more sense now.
- linagee, on 12/05/2008, -1/+1Me too. I'm not sure how he's going to get a high enough solar density. My electric bike uses 1200 watts, so unless he's using huge panels or a much lower wattage bike....
- inactive, on 12/05/2008, -2/+2What was Mr. Garrisons Personal Transportation Device called???
- hbyrne, on 12/05/2008, -2/+2That's a major journey to undertake, but a great way to promote the cause and the technology
- Barackalypse, on 12/05/2008, -1/+1I suppose since around the world on a bike has already been done he's got to go for some climate change green energy angle to get any notice. Frankly I wish these people would all stay home and shut up.
- SillyDigger, on 12/05/2008, -1/+1IN?
- stompk, on 12/06/2008, -0/+0geez. like that idiot who thought we had 52 states. some people.
- superterrorizer, on 12/05/2008, -2/+2There are much cooler ways to go around the world like Bear Cavalry.
- iloveobama, on 12/05/2008, -3/+2Cool, a hippie traveling around the world on an electric bike?
- Mersonix, on 12/05/2008, -3/+2Only one person has never done this before?
Wow, i thought that number one be higher.
That one guy must be me... - bluethundr, on 12/05/2008, -8/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K0HSD_i2DvA
