The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that large, 64-Gallon bins are being deployed in a number of communities across the city in a single-stream recycling campaign that aims to improve recovery rates.

    My trash/recycle bins are the same 65-gallon size, and we have a single-stream system. I have trash picked up every week, recycle every other week. But I need the opposite -- I generate far more recycle than trash. My neighbors have said the same thing.

    I cannot believe that we're unique in this situation. If people are generating more trash than recycle, they are likely throwing away a lot of recyclables, and at that point it becomes an issue of education. Telling people exactly *what* is recyclable and what isn't.
