- cyberdork, on 10/12/2007, -0/+79The photos are by Yann Arthus Bertrand.

- prab, on 10/12/2007, -3/+51They get dugg down until the site crashes because it is sort of rude, then they get dugg up for being convenient.
- jerbaker, on 10/12/2007, -2/+34Just create a bookmark button with the following code for the URL:
javascript:window.location.replace(window.location.href.replace("digg","duggmirror"))
Now whenever you press the button from within a Digg story, it automatically takes you to the duggmirror for that story. - jonasf, on 10/12/2007, -6/+36what's the purpose to put the whole URL? duggmirror handles the referer itself... which is convenient.
- jerbaker, on 10/12/2007, -0/+25On the off chance that the story contains the word "digg" in the URL, this bookmark will be safer:
javascript:window.location.replace("http://"+window.location.hostname.replace("digg","duggmirror")+window.location.pathname) - DonSlice, on 10/12/2007, -2/+25Please... indulge us. Show us some of this "good photography" you speak of.
If not, then STFU. - Throlkim, on 10/12/2007, -0/+20Yann Arthus Bertrand did a museum exhibit for free in many different countries exhibiting his work. His photos are superb, and mostly taken from a helicopter or light aircraft. You can pick up his book called "The Earth from the Air", which has A3 sized prints in it. :)
- khag7, on 10/12/2007, -1/+16yeah but about 10% of people either dont send the referrer information or a firewall by their employer or ISP prevents referrer information from being sent. full URLs are better just so that 10% can use duggmirror too
- Steelfox, on 10/12/2007, -2/+17This guy must like helicopters.
- jamesong, on 10/12/2007, -6/+20@ Loonacy
duggmirror doesn't need the full URL. All you have to do is put http://duggmirror.com in the comments. When people click on it, it takes you to the correct story. Read more here http://duggtrends.com/duggmirror.aspx - Jugalator, on 10/12/2007, -4/+18"duggmirror handles the referer itself..."
... when the browser submit the referer information; some have this disabled for privacy reasons. Be aware if you visit your company site after porn browsing. ;-)
"duggmirror doesn't need the full URL."
See above - seraph1el, on 10/12/2007, -4/+17You suck.
I bet they're all better than any picture you'll ever take - kutsal, on 10/12/2007, -3/+14Uhm... http://www.webpark.RU... Emphasis on (dot) RU; therefore, one might argue, the language here is RUssian..
Nice _collection_ of high(ish)-altitude imagery though.. I like the crispness of the pictures.. Too bad though, I don't think the images contain camera/exposure info in them... - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10LOL I didn't even notice it. Dude it's Sunday - if you're working today you need a new job anyway.
- alski707, on 10/12/2007, -3/+11That guy is one truly great photographer, incredible pictures, I so envy him
- hoppdawg, on 10/12/2007, -2/+10выставка этих фотографий была на Чистых прудах, в большом формате смотрится просто порясающ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- flintmich, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9Some of the early city shots are of Mexico City from a helicopter. I think greater Mexico City has over 15 million people, so they are kinda compressed. Those were part of a photo gallery that was spread on the 'net some time ago, (seems like it was on Digg) but its always nice to see them rehashed for new eyeballs and remixed with other stunning photos. It's nice to see the raw stuff again -- my appetite for the "HDR fad" is souring 'cause my eye just doesn't quite expose that way and those photos look a bit funky. These are just great because they are done with an eye for good framing and composition.
- ubisuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Amazing the numbers of tough guys hiding behind keyboards and acting like dumb@sses
Anyway, they are truly great photos. Thx. - MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -0/+5I love how far the shadow of that mountain extends. (second to last photo I think)
- Confuzed, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6they will not get it :) Good job!
- kudos, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Welcome to 8 hours ago.
- jonasf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Well, so it's the job of people blocking referer to help the other ones by posting the whole URL, so :-)
The other ones are happy to get a useful feature without having to think too much about it.
Of course, it would be even better to have digg provide the link automatically (correctly computed and all). - john237, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5^ yeah what he said
- seraph1el, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5They're taken with his Samsung SGH-D500. I don't know about exposure though
- DanAtkinson, on 10/12/2007, -3/+7Anyone who wants to know what language a site is that has the .ru TLD is a few sandwiches short of a picnic.
- Epsilon26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I saw this exhibit in Portugal in the summer of '04. They had these enormous prints mounted on mobile walls that were spread all over the main square in the old downtown. It was gorgeous.
- Barryke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4"выставка этих фотографий была на Чистых прудах, в большом формате смотрится просто порясающ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Only when wearing pyamas.
edit: lol you reminded me -
Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?" - "Uh, I think so, Brain, but we'll never get a monkey to use dental floss. - DaffyDuck, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3No, they are not. Notice the deep (essentially black) shadows in many of the photos. HDR images usually lack deep shadows and strong contrast.
These photos actually go in the opposite direction of HDR. Personally, I prefer this to HDR. - Wavey, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Seventh one down: Aaaaaaaaa, look at the tangled pile of spaghetti I drive through every day. :(
- lindqvist, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@Jugalator
Porn sites link to your company site? Is that what you're saying? - biff198, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Pay no mind to the fact that if you actually CLICK on any of the images, it brings you to a page with a bunch of pictures of topless women, as opposed to larger versions of the pictures...
- gavintlgold, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2" The exhibition of these photos was on Pure(Clean) ponds, in the big format is looked simply порясающ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "
Interesting... I used freetranslation.com - paxmaniac, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Why not digg the original instead of the copy?
Go to this site:
http://www.yannarthusbertrand.com/yann2/affichage.php
And you can browse all the photos by *thumbnail* instead of downloading dozens of large wallpapers in one whack.
Superb photography, by the way! - floejoe, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2first one looks like Mordor...
- talonator, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2sweet pics. the freeway interchange one is not the 5 and the 110, it's the 105 and the 110. It's 13 stories tall and awesome.
- niczar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The site is russian, but the pics are not: they're ripped off from Yann Arthus-Bertrand's site.
- foomandoonian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2We just had the same exhibit in Plymouth (UK). Very cool.
- ubisuck, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3The one taken at the abandoned city of Pripiat is so depressing. When you know the story.
But there are beautiful places/spot on Earth. - Phyrefly, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Wow, he's truly one of the most creative photographers I've ever seen.
I wonder how he got started... renting helicopters and planes cost quite a lot. - bgii2000, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those are just HDRI's are they not?
- thinkerm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Lovely. Maybe it's easier to see good pics from an airplane or something. :]
- scallon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Am i the only one who thinks the volcano pic is slightly reminiscent of Midgar from FFVII?
- Xanadude, on 10/12/2007, -9/+10первыНах!
- FlapJaw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Those are small pictures..
- LifeIsARhythm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The abandoned city is awesome.
- davidarcila, on 01/10/2009, -0/+1hahaha ,they look like screenshots of "Powaqqatsi" a film by Godfrey Reggio
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0095895/ - oolatin79, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1LMFAO @tempest....recon photos....bbbwwwwhahahahahaha
- RobotCitizen, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I like the oblique angle in the pics. Makes it look like a city sim game.
- drumhell, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Although these are some awesome photos, I can't help but think that the photographer has significantly "post-processed" the images in order to bring the color levels to such a vibrant level. I can't imagine even being at those places and seeing the images as they appear in the photos.
