- PvtJenkins, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Eww...the Silverfish is still ugly up close.
- tehmarsvolta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3oh, silverfish, you are the bane of my existence.
please exit my bathroom/basement immediately. - armbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Yeah, but it only had 14 diggs...it's only a true dupe if it hit the front page.
- Pegritz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Please be careful when taking photographs such as this on your own. Microscopes are notoriously temperamental and, quite often, dangerous devices whose usage has led to (among other things) scratched corneas, detached retinas, and inconsolable tears. Be careful or you could end up blinded...BY SCIENCE.
- hthth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Make sure you see nr. 3 of the Zoology series. But damn that autoscrolling is annoying.
- armbar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2By the way, the images are animated over a few frames, so let them load completely before moving on to the next series.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3If any of you go see the newish Aronofsky flick 'The Fountain', none of the imagery in the movie is computer rendered. The greater portion of the effects are actually photographs through a microscope of various things.
- SpamDog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have always loved macro photography, this just takes it to a whole new level...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i freak out everytime i see one of those when i open up a drawer late at night. now this isn't gonna help much
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1how to get rid of them?
- Ramble, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's not macro photogaphy. This is microscopy (usually you chop stuff up and look at it under a light microscope but the electron microsoft allows us to look at things as they are). It's quite easy and usually produces some bloody cool images. Air bubbles are annoying though.
- Chesterfield, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1@zzzzbest,
Considering that I know several companies, including my own, that did CG work on the Fountain movie, you should qualify that statement. Yes, there are a lot of scenes that used micro-photography to achieve some of the effects, but even those shots were composited in the computer. - piggy2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1don't go swimming for at least thirty minutes afterwards as well.
- stupidchalupa, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1...not to mention the bane of my prolific library...
