- JerodSlay, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3This is not a tornado because it doesn't reach the ground, according to the national weather service. Oh and I am a storms potter and this is also no tornado because it's fake. http://www.spc.noaa.gov/faq/tornado/#The%20Basics
- Lambach, on 10/11/2007, -14/+7... I don't think we're in Kansas anymore.
- yoadrian, on 10/11/2007, -10/+2i was just thinking about that.
- yoadrian, on 10/11/2007, -2/+24why are some of the raindrops like 3 inches long? is it the shutter speed or the speed of the rain?
- Noctem, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23Yes.
- minigamer1896, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Do you mean both are correct?

- JRjJ106, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3it would be worth the pain for the skittles. especially if they were the sour ones.
- blackacre, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Skittles and a tornado? That might hurt a bit.
- Daemion43, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The streaks are actually hail
- Noctem, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23Yes.
- str3ama, on 10/11/2007, -2/+66it's actually quite a common thing with tornadoes, the cumulus/funnel clouds that form the tornado usually cause rain - the rain drops refract light (like a prism) causing the rainbow. But it's a rare event that you get to take a picture of it...here are some other tornado rainbow pics for those interested:

- cjpro, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4The best digg comment ever was something along the lines of "WoW player with a girlfriend? Dugg as inaccurate."

- mediaspree, on 10/11/2007, -4/+51Rainbows can stop tornados? The midwest should be more gay friendly.
- rosefu, on 10/11/2007, -2/+27Looks like the tornado also tore up the server...
- Flappy3, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4It looks like the rainbow sprung a leak.
- Furkle, on 10/11/2007, -1/+37Wow I was seriously disappointed when I realized that the headline said "Tornado" and not "Tomato"
- holygram, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22I was seriously disappointed when I realized that the headline said "tornado" and not "iPhone".
Oh wait.
No I wasn't.
dugg. - soogy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Never fear, I'm here to save the day.
http://i14.tinypic.com/66v58pv.png - cbartlett, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2I thought the same thing. I thought "tomado" was some euro spelling of "tomato" that I hadn't seen before.
- holygram, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22I was seriously disappointed when I realized that the headline said "tornado" and not "iPhone".

- guise, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5One day i'd like to see a digg image post running into an active server.
- wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -2/+18Since the server was blown to shreds as well: http://www.neatorama.com/images/2006-05/tornado-rainbow.jpg
- adoggz, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Me thinks the tornado took skittles commercials too seriously.
- Dawnrazor, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5f you can "Taste the rainbow" you been poppin something a lot stronger than Skittles
- GAMEchief, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Mirror. This is the one that was linked to in the original article. Unlike the two mirrors above, this one's larger and doesn't have a watermark. Considering the original article didn't have a watermark, I'm just wondering why the other two did...
http://quadshott.com/_/pic_534782001183242143.jpg- wildfire, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Because I got it from Google Images and most images of that nature seem to be from Eric Nyugen.

# Ollie:"IT'S RAININ' SIDEWAYS."- parkermauney, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1#Tom: "Do you have an Umbrella Ollie?"
#Ollie:"HAD ONE!"
- parkermauney, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1#Tom: "Do you have an Umbrella Ollie?"
- eleraama, on 10/11/2007, -1/+13It's like the first half of the Wizard of Oz, condensed into a single instant.... "Somewhere over the rainbow..." *tornado*
- otaking, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I was just going to comment, Toto I don't think we're in Kansas anymore! :o
- shakma, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7title should have read care bears stop tornado
- Zenls, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2photoshopped. can anyone else not see it??
- Jibberish, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I agree that this is a photoshop job, because I have seen the original picture of this before. I am going to try and find it now and post it, so please do not digg this down quite yet. :)
- vaxguru, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Great pic.
Btw, that Chris Farley look-alike kid is on the recent pic bar, lol. - jdaniel284, on 10/11/2007, -2/+9Looks like a tornado hitting Photoshop to me.
- motionone, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2i think the rainbow was legit and the tornado was photoshopped
- Majora26, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1So... Thats why you don't believe those stupid cliches or whatever you would call them
- rockmanac, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Technically it's a FUNNEL CLOUD running into a rainbow.... For it to be a tornado, you have to have rotation at the ground... Unfortunately, you can't see the ground behind the tree, so we don't really know if this is a tornado. /storm spotter mode
Wicked cool picture! I pointed the local spotter group to the link.
-A - Erameys, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Its fake I live in tornado alley and have seen plenty of tornadoes and they do not look like that nor do they get stopped by rainbows. But is a pretty photoshop
- FaithclubDotNet, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0I saw this picture... Like a year ago on Fark.
- wolfie8914, on 10/11/2007, -2/+0Though, it really would be hard for this to be fake.
- tyggafella, on 10/11/2007, -3/+0this is a little off topic but today (saturday) while driving down NE 50th St in Seattle I looked up in the sky and saw a rainbow... this was weird because it didn't go ground to sky or arch ground to ground, it just a small patch of rainbow in the sky, like it had no head or tail, plus it hadn't rained at all today so it made it even more weird
anyone else seen it or can explain it? - toad22, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Picli mirror:
http://www.picli.com/A-tornado-running-into-a-rainbow-from-toad22 - rainbowblack, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Old, but still an awesome photograph. I guess anything could count as news worthy.

- darcybrown, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1nice, the submitted pic cropped out the copyright...
- withears, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1That's not a rainbow. It's a protective tornado shield protecting the town of Pith, KS.
DEFEND THE PITH! - TheRemoteViewer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Did it rain skittles afterwards?
- TheRemoteViewer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Duplicate comment, bury.
