- cx0der, on 07/07/2009, -0/+8But...but... can he hold hands with EVE?
- whiledo, on 07/07/2009, -0/+8This small town could implement robot garbage collection, thanks to Italian ingenuity. New York would never be able to implement robot garbage collection, also thanks to Italian ingenuity.

- aforsberg, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5Words cannot describe my adoration for Wall-E.
- bicyclethief, on 07/07/2009, -0/+5Except this Wall-E says How YOU doin? to EVE.
- Haoie, on 07/06/2009, -0/+5Someone mod a new gen ipod and you've got yourself Eva.
- otbeverly, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4I'd have to say no due to a discernible lack of hands.
- AndrewSnook, on 07/07/2009, -0/+4"Every people"?
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3The guy who created it is way to skinny, and he can walk on his own. I call shenanigans.
- imacmike, on 07/07/2009, -0/+3Life imitates art...

- Dotcommer, on 07/07/2009, -2/+4They're in your shirt pocket man.
- BC200, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Woah! A trash can on a segway! REVOLUTIONARY!
- Xaevier, on 07/07/2009, -0/+2Having been to Italy in the last 3 years I have to admit this is perfect. Those streets are so tight, cramped and small that sometimes vespas have trouble getting through them without hitting people.
This could really help out the trash problems they have been having over there lately. - inactive, on 07/07/2009, -1/+3Artoo DustBucket
- Culyt, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1I was thinking a similar idea earlier today, a robot designed to pick up dog poop at parks.
It could even use the poop for power like that robot the used slugs (or the alarm clock that used flys or mice).
Granted its an odd thought to have, but its a realistic goal for designing a robot since it only has to do a specific task and there would be plenty of perspective buyers as dog poop is a huge issue for local government. Most parks are fairly flat. You just need to provide gps coordinates of areas to target to stop it escaping and a return to station to recharge. Some minimal designs to stop people from screwing with it such as tracking to prevent theft and a self righting mechanism if people flip it. And ensure it won't harm kids/pets.
I guess the biggest issue would be the poop detection since parts are too big to use the Roomba random roaming system. - AlKo, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Actually, I think it would also be very helpful for other nations in the EU like Spain as well. Though they have to work on it's ability to travel _reliably_ on cobblestone streets. And those cobblestones are pretty smooth compared to some other streets other EU cities.
- Culyt, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1GPS... I guess you could kidnap it in a Faraday cage (or just wrap it in tin foil like some kind of robotic burrito).
- phorofor, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1That looks nothing like Wall-E.
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1we can't have nice things like this in the us...
- matude, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Its interior seems to be too small for serious garbage collecting? Moving only one bag at a time seems to be ineffective. But it's definitely a way of the future, soon our cities will be full of such small robots.
I liked the prototype for pizza delivery robot on Prototype This, basically the same thing, but holds in pizza crates.
( http://dsc.discovery.com/videos/prototype-this-aut ... ) - Pushkin, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1How would a cool thing like that last more than 20 minutes on the streets before being kidnapped and hauled in for reprogramming by some kids?
- Pushkin, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1And this is not as wide as a Vespa?
- SoupNoZi, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1Someone needs to mod a roomba into M-O.
- thebeginning, on 07/07/2009, -0/+1YES, thank you Pixar!
Now, please make more futuristic movies so these companies won't have to spend a hundred years coming up with cool ideas themselves. I personally would like to see hoverboards and possibly an anti-gravity machine. Sweet. - jfarschman, on 07/28/2009, -0/+0Wall-E lives - http://digg.com/apple/iSight_WALL_E
- 4AntiStupid, on 07/07/2009, -0/+0That looks like a case of a really complex and expensive solution to a simple problem. I could pay a whole lot of people and create a lot of jobs for what a fleet of those would cost.
- kevincredible, on 07/07/2009, -3/+1MON-E.
- PleasantKiller, on 07/06/2009, -5/+3GO PIXAR
- flyingmeteor, on 07/07/2009, -3/+112 picture = you?
- PleasantKiller, on 07/06/2009, -6/+2robot sex...... fapfapfapfapfapfap
- inactive, on 07/07/2009, -7/+2" it could revolutionize garbage collection throughout many small Italian towns where the traditional garbage truck gets stuck at tight turns in the road."
They could just get smaller trucks? Problem solved, I'm a hero! - kevro, on 07/07/2009, -12/+2no picture = Fail.
