- tbhurst, on 07/15/2009, -0/+36Recycling movie studio waste has been going on for a long time. Remember Police Academy 2 through 6?
- jetboyterp, on 07/15/2009, -0/+21The other 37% of the waste is distributed to theaters nationwide.
- Probatus, on 07/15/2009, -1/+12Aw damn. All the witty recycled plot line comments have already been posted.
- fleischner, on 07/15/2009, -0/+5I think they call them "sequels."
- Antibland, on 07/15/2009, -0/+4It's called sustainable mediocrity.
- fuzzybeard, on 07/15/2009, -0/+3Removing 7,315 cars annually? Really? That ought to be enough cars to go *ka-BOOM* in the next Michael Bay action flick!
- SBolivar, on 07/15/2009, -1/+4Hey, Police Academy 2 featured Bobcat Goldthwait as one of the least convincing criminals ever. Don't go saying that was recycled waste my friend. And the guy who could make sounds-- he deserved at least a 2nd go... don't know about a 3rd though. Just kidding.
Found this funny morsel on Wikipedia about Police Academy: "Roger Ebert of the Chicago Sun-Times, gave the film zero stars out of a possible four stars, commenting that "It's really something. It's so bad, maybe you should pool your money and draw straws and send one of the guys off to rent it so that in the future, whenever you think you're sitting through a bad comedy, he could shake his head, and chuckle tolerantly, and explain that you don't know what bad is."
Ouch. - inactive, on 07/15/2009, -0/+3How do I get ahold of Jessica Simpson now that shes been recycled by Tony Romo and Hollywood career went nowhere?
- inactive, on 07/16/2009, -0/+2As long as they're acknowledging that they're only doing this to reduce costs, and not masquerading as leaders in the green movement, I'm cool with it.
- kolobcreek, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2Haha they must be sending all their garbage to our theaters.
- Wreckage, on 07/15/2009, -0/+297% of movie ideas however are also recycled.
- KRG12345, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2That explains Disaster Movie..
- digitalArtform, on 07/15/2009, -0/+2Only if 'recycle' is short for 'release cycle'
Theatrical release, then DVD, then cable, then network TV - inactive, on 07/15/2009, -1/+3too easy
- cntlscrut, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1aaahhh. so that's why they're remaking everything. it's not for lack of ideas or creativity... it's because they're going green....
still though i would consider it prudent to actually make a damn movie i want to see that doesn't suck. - cfuse, on 07/16/2009, -0/+1Look in the trash.
- solboldi, on 07/15/2009, -1/+2Yeah, but did Disney even donate one dollar for conservation of lions from the profits of the Lion King?
- gothicform, on 07/15/2009, -0/+1I suppose they packaged all the ***** up and released it this summer as Transformers 2.
- titansix, on 07/15/2009, -2/+3Unfortunately, ideas are still being recycled too. But great to see more is being done to reduce environmental impact.
- heyjohnsullivan, on 07/15/2009, -2/+2Who gives a *****?
- Zren, on 07/15/2009, -0/+0In other news, total CO2 Emissions created from movie are on a rise as explosives and special effects get bigger and better.
Though honestly, it's not like they can have 100% recycling. Most stuff gets blown up or damaged. Some thing, like ears and feet from hobbits, only last a couple of days (I think, I can't find where I read how often they expired).
Hell they made 1,600 pairs or prosthetic hobbit feet for the LotR trilogy. For bout 30 Hobbits in the few shire screens and the rest for the 4 hobbits. - Astark, on 07/15/2009, -0/+0Bah-zing
- rerler, on 07/15/2009, -2/+2That's a nice start. Next up for Hollywood: a much lower waste production and a 100% recycle rate?
- WittyKnit, on 07/15/2009, -1/+0It's about time - what an obvious move.
