- theholotrope, on 10/11/2007, -3/+43Title should read:
5 Deadliest Cities *because of ecological disaster* in the World - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -2/+25#5 is misleading. Doe Run inherited the mess, and are cleaning it up.
http://www.doerun.com/whatwedo/laOroya.aspx - Haphazardness, on 10/11/2007, -0/+22Did radioactive dust really reach North America?
- s33k4, on 10/11/2007, -7/+28What about Baghdad Green-Zone?
- fwc67, on 10/11/2007, -8/+19Was that baby really from Chernobyl? Looks more like Area 51 to me :-/
- acid0426, on 10/11/2007, -0/+11Dugg is obviously one of the most deadly sites on the web.
- rukki, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Kid, you don't even know what graphic IS. I could eat lunch off of this "Graphic Content"
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7and you forgot 't-o-n'
- rukki, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Grow up. This is the world we live in.

http://duggmirror.com//environment/5_Deadliest_Cities_in_The_World/plain.html - azntiger1000, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5To be more specific, this is 5 deadliest cities that are contaminated with chemicals not crime.
- satx, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4God forbid you be exposed to this....
The people who live there have to see this every day. - Metasquares, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Philly has nothing on Camden :)
- queraxus, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4What a sook. Get a grip!
- jcpudd, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Oh...your...God!
- Carsonauto, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Since when was Chernobyl an "Ecological Disaster"?
- Dignin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3So much so that it stretches form Iceland in the North to the Yucatan peninsula in Mexico to the South. Semantics says what? The original poster (theNazz) simply put it in perspective for him/her.
- jkirk7msa, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4I expected:
A. More detailed descriptions. Really didn't want to pull up Wiki.
B. This site to last longer under the Digghammer.
Sigh. Dugg, nevertheless! - satx, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5Now imagine living there...
Ok, what are you doing to stop this destruction? - Dustmuffins, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2There's some really disturbing mutations from Chernobyl. I once saw a video with a baby that had legs that were about 6 inches long.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3what are YOU doing?
nothing. - rukki, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3***** isn't toxic, just undesirable.
- Arkz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2it was a simple typo, dont get all emotional jmp
- theNazz, on 10/11/2007, -4/+6I don't recall being told about the radioactive cloud reaching US shores along the east coast... that's odd.
- pmagayon, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3What'd you expect to see in a story titled "5 Deadliest Cities in the World"?
- TroubleInMind, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3So moving away from those places, I guess, would be a good idea - ya know? Hello?
And don't give me that crap about "my people lived here for generations". If you were in your great-grandpa's house, and it caught on fire, you'd get the eff out of there, wouldn't you? Or would you stay there and stubbornly burn? Sheesh. - awa1ct, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Welcome to Philadelphia, the murder capital of the US.
http://media.philly.com/images/fbi-most-violent-big-cities.gif - akumudzi, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1true!
- Caliente, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1What? No Mogadishu!
- OwdenBowden, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Its a Dupe Submission but it never gets old... Keep them Coming.
- jspegele, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I don't think he was referring to the *****. D.C. has almost twice as many violent crimes and three times as many homicides as any STATE in the U.S.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_the_United_States#States
That said, I'd much rather live in D.C. than any city on this list. - nobody98, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2This is not scary. Wuss.
- aaronm67, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2No they don't. The people who gave birth to that baby do.
- RunningboardV2, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2uh... well, yea, that's what is expected to be heard, from their corporate website.. here is what they are recently responding to, the LA Times:
http://www.latimes.com/news/la-fg-oroya18jun18,0,1196892,full.story?coll=la-tot-topstories
hearing both sides of the story is always good for a healthy mind.
the issue is very complicated, involving social and economical playing fields. you can't just fully side to one argument. - Dested, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1=/
- monkeytom888, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Chernobyl = S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
- havokzero, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2There was an article on the Digg homepage a while back about this. Apparently, it was originally believed that the contamination was only within the eastern hemisphere. A few months ago, scientists came across new data and more sophisticated calculations, which suggested that the contamination also lead to the death of hundreds of Americans.
- Verdanic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I like reading about towns like Love Canal and Chernobyl. It puts me in a weird feeling of awe.
- Al3x, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1http://duggmirror.com
- DiamondIce, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1You click on a link that says "Deadliest Cities" and you're surprised that is includes a picture that's slightly graphic? I wonder what you would have done if every picture were really graphic, I'm talking mass graves and war amputees.
- krusader3z, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Submitter fails.
- Varro, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1This list is funny . Umm no cities from either Israel or Iraq ? Baghdad is by far the most deadly city in the world !! I have read that the average DAILY Death toll is 100+
- g30ff, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1It was just a friendly ribbing, nothing serious. Although I don't live in Detroit (or even the US) I do have family there and visited the city a number of times. They don't see it as being quite as safe a place as you do, but I'd agree that their fears are overblown. Personally, I think they're a bit afraid of minorities. I've enjoyed my visits to the city and gone for walks around the neighbourhood without ever feeling threatened, although my extended family thought I was crazy to do so unarmed. Last time I checked Washington DC was worse, but it just isn't what that city is known for (that being lying ***** politicians) so Detroit ends up being the butt of the dangerous city jokes.
- enchantedsky, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2The radioactive dust did reach North America...........that's why people are still using Internet Explorer on their computers.
- TricK2039, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I think people should put these lists with a descending order. This makes it so anti-climatic it just become boring by the end.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1deadliest, i says. Atomic waste, radioactive decays, Lead and Zinc infested terrains. Those will kill you, sooner or later. Look into the long run, friends. Some one said the death rate of Iraq is 100+/day.....um..does WAR sounds familiar to you?
- sloppychris, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I thought we'd see Abidjan, Ivory Coast on there.
- Error601, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Not deadliest...most polluted. Huge difference. Also fixable but these places don't have economy to do it.
