- billwild, on 06/20/2008, -2/+17Terrible article. I expected more actual facts and science rather than random news clips and things about parades.
- BarriedaleNick, on 06/20/2008, -1/+15Should have been titled 20 things that very little to do with the solstice and those points that do have something to do with it you probably knew anyway...
A terrible article - science for idiots... - gibler, on 06/20/2008, -0/+8How Northern hemisphere centric. The Winter Solstice approaches here.
- Akaricloud, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3Slow night. Theres even been a lapse in the Obama news.
- turpialito, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3Buried for not mentioning Eratosthenes.
- Ramble, on 06/20/2008, -1/+4It is permitted, but so is the free speech of me telling you to shut the ***** up.
- skewbiedoo, on 06/20/2008, -0/+3"On the solstice of June 20, 2001, Andrea Yates killed her five children. Three years before that (June 18, 1999—also near the solstice) she tried to kill herself with an overdose of pills."
Or two years...I mean, if you believe in math and all.... - doctechnical, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2Every now and again they throw an extra day on the calendar just for ***** and giggles. We call it a "leap year".
- nedy78, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2Number 20 is interesting and a bit disturbing.
- cdigioia, on 06/20/2008, -0/+2Above arctic circle you mean?
- Ramble, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1But no-one cares about the Southern hemisphere.
- kreatre2007, on 06/20/2008, -4/+5Number 17 is quite interesting... "Even without seasons, changes in the sun affect the planets. Sunspots wax and wane on an 11-year cycle; at times of peak sunspot activity, such as the year 2000, the sun is 0.07 percent brighter than during periods of low activity." The global warming alarmists routinely ignore the fact that there is a huge nuclear furnace 93 million miles away. The Sun has a greater effect on the climate than mankind could ever have. When the Sun produces more radiation and sends it out into space, the Earth (and the other planets) will naturally heat up. Oh well.... That's too much logic for most people.
- WallyAnti, on 06/23/2008, -0/+1Are you trying to convince me that if the Catholic Church had never existed we wouldn't know how to map the passage of time in some effective way?
Keep in mind that since I don't keep in step with religious occult practices, the relevance of Sunday is trivial beyond distinguishing between that day and the one after. - aflaks, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1I would have found this interesting if i was in 2nd grade... and on shrooms
- afx1138, on 06/20/2008, -1/+2yes, we will designate where it is appropriate for you to voice your opinion...
- Enochrewt, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Buried because like 16 of the 20 things have nothing to do with the summer solstice
- doctechnical, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1You realize that the calendar you're using is a construct of the Catholic Church, right?
- doctechnical, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Didn't he invent the sieve?
- spdorsey, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1Is #16 a Solstice fact at all? I don't think so.
- JediJJ, on 06/20/2008, -0/+1When I clicked on this article I did not imagine I would see naked people painted like bees riding on bicycles...
thank you Digg - horhay2000, on 06/20/2008, -1/+1this is one of the worst articles i've ever had the misfortune to read. Even if it was reduced down to a top 5 it'd still be crap. Waste your time elsewhere people
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -1/+1Galileo Galilei has a really stupid name. Parents should have thought that out.
- rocfit, on 02/16/2009, -0/+0Great day to start to new exercise plan! Try http://dontbefat.info
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -1/+1I can guarantee that I didn't know one of those.
- zadadka, on 06/20/2008, -1/+1Well, well....I thought it was ALWAYS on 21st June....wrong again, gosh-darn it.
- WallyAnti, on 06/20/2008, -2/+1Interesting article, provocative digg description. I honestly think the Catholic church should repent in a certain way for their crimes. I think, as a sign of humility in the face of past crimes, the pope should kiss the ass of Steven Hawkings every year on this occasion.
- kreatre2007, on 06/20/2008, -3/+1***** off *****! I had no idea that free speech was not permitted on Digg.
- Duositex, on 06/20/2008, -4/+1Buried for bringing this into the thread. Troll.
P.S. I'm not a global warming alarmist either. - lekahe, on 06/20/2008, -4/+1OMG! I am spending it at the moment. Below Arctic circle ... 2hrs dark,
Finns actually do funny things but this stosy is NUTS! - billwild, on 06/20/2008, -6/+1Terrible article. I expected more actual facts and science rather than random news clips and things about parades.
