- Imagine3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13I have been chasing for 6 years, and to tell you the truth, there are a couple nice ones, but for the most part, their kind of crappy. You need to look at some personal photographer's sites to find really good pics. Not NOAA's website.
Check out Eric Nguyen's site. He has some amazing pictures that puts NOAA's to shame.
http://www.mesoscale.ws/ - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11The best shot in my opinion.

- fernando26, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6Anchorman, agreed, that shot is the best.
As far as the rest go, I don't know about you guys but I dont think grainy low resolution bad lit shots qualify as "amazing." Modern cellphones can take pictures better than those, I bet a gallery of post year 2000 pics would be much more "amazing"
That being said, there *are* a few gems in there. - dolemite5005, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4These pictures suck.
- saleem, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5its too amazing to be seen
- a1lostnomad, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5Nope, I think most diggers learned how to read a while back...
- n8r0n, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5I don't see it...
http://www.photolib.noaa.gov/nssl/nssl0200.htm - gostars, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I agree, Imagine3. These pictures are some of the least impressive ones I've seen. Anybody could google 'tornado' and quickly come up with countless photos a lot better than these.
- habitat2050, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2exactly what i was thinking, the scarriest ones are the old ones
- TJENN, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Its cool to see pictures of tornadoes. Tornadoes are rare and have awesome power. I am a Skywarn storm spotter and chaser. Agree that these pictures are of low quality but it's nice to see them.
- LooterMcBeer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Ive got some really good ones i should post up. I live in Oklahoma so getting pics of Tornados every year isnt a hard task you just walk into your front yard around 5:30 during the spring and wait lol. Ive got a picture of one tha was so big and i am so close to it that it wouldnt fit in the lens of my camera.
- machambi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2why are the best shots from the 70s ? they dont make them so good anymore ?
- migurski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Seeing this in real life would scare the hell out of me:
http://www.photolib.noaa.gov/nssl/nssl0193.htm - kdogg73, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Tornado:
http://www.cynical-c.com/archives/bloggraphics/tornado.jpg - Rinkin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Amazing gallery.
- mijogiffin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1That's not a tornado.
http://www.srh.noaa.gov/oun/wxevents/19790410/
THAT'S a tornado. my house was in the f4 zone. good times, good times. - colklink, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I had the exact same problem...I thought it would be some sort of new V8 competitor though.
- Prem0, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Imagine3 , that website has some great pictures of storms. I agree that the NOAA gallery is not even close.
- mongull, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0those are absolutely amazing.
- kylesellers, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3Wow, my screen resolution is too high and my text too small, because I thought you had typed "Tomado" and was assuming this was some crazy new genetically engineered fruit...
- wssharp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Guys
I like looking at pictures of tornadoes. - kjk437, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0That one was part of one of the longer series of pictures. There are several that map the development of that particular storm.
- e73rock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0So on one hand the shots are to grainy and a cellphone can do better (fernando26), and on the other hand the 70's ones look the best (Machambi).
I agree that the old one's are the creepiest. And i don't think amazing was referring to the photo quality. - jkaiser, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1http://www.duggmirror.com
- fintheman, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Guys
Check out the site called http://stormgasm.com. It is probably one of the better storm chasing forums out there and there is also some very impressive video of shots that the people who run the site have done. They are independent chasers and have been able to get better videos than the people with a large corporate backing. - 35chililights, on 10/12/2007, -8/+5i think that was the same cow
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -8/+2i tell you, that tornado are the worse, because of the swing. use to live in tornado valley, tornados aren't no joke to deal with. wanted to be a storm chaser when young, but moved somewhere else and lost it.
