- VanD, on 10/10/2007, -3/+22Canada is a beautiful place.
- yomamaisfat, on 10/10/2007, -5/+24Awesome, but it's not as nice as an island with a sandy beach in the Caribbean.
- exec0extreme, on 10/10/2007, -13/+29Where's the salad dressing factory?
- statix, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18wow. someone needs to turn the 7th one down from the top to a wallpaper. hi-res anyone?
- SEN5241, on 10/10/2007, -2/+16Only if yo mama jumped in the lake. ;-P

- bigbill780, on 10/10/2007, -1/+10Ya, global warming wont be affecting these people...
- thebellmaster1x, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9A common misconception. The bridge, as well as both islands it connects, both reside in Canada.
- Ghengis, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9The dressing is made at the 1000 Islands Inn in Clayton, NY. It's on the American shore ~12 - 15 miles driving from Bolt Castle (the huge place in 3 of the last 4 pics).
- Typhoon2009, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8I want one :D
- ronmexico, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Hmm, rising ocean levels don't have much impact on lakes above sea level.
- inertic, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Nice to look at but I bet day to day living would become a hassle. You won't be able to make quick trips to the store or if you have to go somewhere due to an emergency.
- Orangutan, on 10/10/2007, -4/+10well la dee da for you
- canuq, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6This mirror doesn't have all the photos.

- ronmexico, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I wish you global warming people would make up your mind. Half of you say it's causing the great lakes to dry up, the other half are claiming they're gonna flood. Try and be a little consistent.
- digggggggggg, on 10/10/2007, -4/+8And I hear their money is worth more.
- etruscan, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I'm in Kingston, Ontario - which is right at the first island (Wolfe Island) - it's a fantastic region. Lots of freshwater lakes (like... in the 1000's), lots of islands (in the 1000's) and lots of parks. Plus it's just a quick drive down to the Adirondacks for some mountain terrain. Lovely.
- R0am3r, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Huh? You obviously don't live near the islands. Check out the levels of Lake Ontario: http://www.glerl.noaa.gov/data/now/wlevels/ontario ...
- lukas88, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4How many others first thought to themselves "That is where I want to live some day." and their second thought was "wait, no cable/fios internet."
- OneLess, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Pwnt.
- krolyat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hey I used to stay in Watertown as well! I would love to go back. It's been about 6 years since I was up there and at Fort Drum.
- DanMcScience, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Right by where I am right now!! What a beautiful place.
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Dane Cook is not funny, nor is his self-made slang.
- thenorwegian, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2The big "Castle" is Boldt Castle. http://www.boldtcastle.com/
They run tours through it- it has an amazing history and the castle itself is gorgeous. I highly recommend taking the tour. - Ro4ddog, on 10/10/2007, -3/+5This is an amazing part of the country. I used to live in Watertown, NY which is about a half an hour from here. Our prom was on a four-level riverboat trolling up and down the St. Lawrence seaway and thousand island corridor. Me and my friends used to go to a bar in Alexandria Bay (A-Bay) and get drunk before we were 21. They were nice enough to serve us minors. Brings back good memories.
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2You just try the "cruises." They're worth the extra cash, over the "cruses."
- silverchrysalis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2who would want a 6 pack of it though?
- tempurasama, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I've driven past it on my yearly trip to Montreal. Nice sights to behold, and makes you wish you have one of those as your own. Sometimes a house can stretch two small islands, connected by a little bridge.
- atbnet, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Pretty nice, seems like a nice weekend get-a-way.
- ghinch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11000 islands, meet 4000 islands (southern Laos):
http://www.flickr.com/photos/greggers/sets/7215760 ... - DarthBeer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The islands really are an amazing place, my folks have a seasonal trailer in a park on the river. As far as global warming swallowing them up, it ain't gonna happen, not for a really long time anyways. Water levels are controlled by power plants up in Montreal, from what I understand. I don't know the details, but towards the end of every summer the water levels are always really low, especially this year.
But yea, get up there if you ever get a chance, its not as ritzy and expensive as those pics make it seem. - ghinch, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Actually, better, less selfish link :)
http://www.flickr.com/photos/tags/4000islands/ - cyrix, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Just put some naval mines around your island and no one will bother you. If they do....
"Hey neigh.... *BOOM*" - ness0013, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1If i owned one of these islands I would faux war with another neighbor's island.
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1It's on a lake...
- canuq, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Mirror: http://mirror.canuq.com/3632329/user/patricia/3722 ...
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The warmer summer will allow them to enjoy their waterfront property even more.
- etruscan, on 10/10/2007, -2/+3It's a quick trip from any one of those islands to the mainland by boat... and mostly those are "cottages" (except for Boldt Castle, pictured, which is a tourist attraction). I live just at one end of the islands (in Kingston, Ontario) and they stretch all the way up the St. Lawrence River to Cornwall, Ontario. It's a stunning area really.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think you can drive to these Islands in the winter.
- lookoutforchris, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2How does a comment stating a fact (especially in a thread where many people don't know the location named in the article title) get dug down, while a political comment about money is dug up?
- badjoke, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Jealous much?
- MrIso, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Some of those remind me of Myst.
- WillyWonka, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Ugh, Brockville. The place I ran out of gas during that huge blackout 4-5 years back. They have great parking lots to sleep in by those islands.
- cheeseron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1My whole family is pretty much from here. We've got a place on Grindstone Island, which has an old Cheese Factory
