- maniac4hire, on 06/15/2008, -1/+7Wow my one friend goes to a chiropractor quite often and is always trying to get me to go. I've always thought that chiropractics were a bit of a shady side of medicine and this kind of reinforces that belief. Maybe I'll have to show this to her.
- alapoet, on 06/14/2008, -2/+7Whoa... that really makes you stop and think.
I've never been to a chiro, but I have considered it. Maybe not so much, now. - Hellman109, on 06/15/2008, -1/+4Here in Australia no decent chiro will touch you without getting an Xray done first. They will refer you for an Xray (for free, paid by the government, suck that Americans) and then you take that back and they will check it then work on you.
I sit bad sometimes, Ive had whiplash from a car accident and for both a chiro has helped allot.
Some people swear by sports theropy massage though, as they say the muscles control where the bones sit, each to their own. - Qong, on 06/14/2008, -2/+3The only think that makes me stop and think about is how ridiculous the lawsuit is. $500 million in damages? That is laughable at best.
This woman went to a quack doctor -- a personal choice on her part -- and now she is paying for it. That should teach people to stick with real doctors instead of wackos. - Surferess, on 06/14/2008, -2/+2I go to the chiropractor all the time. It sure helps me. I have never heard of someone having a stroke after an appt before.
- DiggerA, on 06/15/2008, -2/+2chiropractics is not a shady type of medicine, however there are some out there that are not very good at their job....Look at it this way.....what do you call a doctor who graduated from medical school with a 2.0 average? You still call him doctor.....sigh
- coachshade, on 06/15/2008, -1/+0Not all Chiropractors are quacks. My wife and I have been going to our Dr. for years without any harm and much relief. Just like any profession there are good and bad practitioners. Let's not bash an entire industry for the missteps of one of its members.
And for those who have never been to a chiropractor, you are simply speaking from a position of ignorance for you have no knowledge of the subject. - coachshade, on 06/15/2008, -2/+0So, do you live your entire life through fear? Even though you have someone (a friend) with actual experience with a chiropractor, you will allow the experience and decisions of a complete stranger decide what you are going to do with your life.
Do you actually know the whole story or just what you read in the article? She has not even won the law suit and you are condeming an entire health care alternative from the experience of one person.
Granted chirpractic is not for everyone but if your friend thinks it might be a good thing for you, it is worth at least checking out. I would suggest that you interview several chirpractors in the area and ask them for references. Also, check with your local/state medical board for information on chiropractors in your area. Knowledge is power and in the end after giving chiropractic a thorough review you still decide it is not for you, so be it but at least do your du diligence first. You just may find something that gives you wonderful results.
