- gconeen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+27turn up your volume, bud
- KragTheDigger, on 10/12/2007, -4/+28...and I was wondering what was special about throwing boiling water at an inclination of 45 degrees....
~K - PleaseJustDie, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22Because heated water molecule move and transfer energy very rapidly. When they are bunched together in the bucket they transfer energy (heat) to the other molecules in the bucket, but as soon as you fling them they all separate and transfer all their energy (heat) into the freezing air around them, essentially it gets flash frozen due to the rapid loss. Its only possible if the water is boiling, at room temperature the water molecules don't give transfer energy (heat) fast enough.
- imitrust, on 10/12/2007, -3/+21I once had my piss freeze in Sweden...and my snot...and my eyelids. Not nice.
- JohnC86, on 10/12/2007, -1/+18At which point did your piss freeze? That could be quite uncomfortable.
- wepeel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+15yeah, I saw the Myth Busters where they tested if your piss could freeze, and it can't, at least not while it's coming out of you
(insert "busted" plate here) - imitrust, on 10/12/2007, -1/+15I didn't say it froze as it exited me. I said it froze. I nearly slipped on it an hour later.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10It's not dust. The water (which itself can put a match out) turned into snow (which definitely will put a match it).
- thtroyer, on 10/12/2007, -2/+11@KragTheDigger
Reread it. -45 degrees. Assuming the horizon as 0 degrees, -45 would be a declination. Yay! - abusive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8RationalAntaxia: http://digg.com/submit
- racer108, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Lol, yea. Here are a few his comments.
Mixle: You are obviously a homosexualist.
mkwiatkow : I'm betting mixle's stupidity is just an act; probably just gets off watching folks get mad at her. And if mixle isn't kidding? It's pretty scary wondering how her home-schooled kids will grow up.
And BTW, cool video.
mixle (6 hours ago)
I'm not joking. Haven't you ever seen snow turn cat food?
It's a pretty common occurrence.
Mixle: I don't care what Kevin says, you can't get any colder than zero. C'mon, how could you have less heat than zero heat? On its face, it just doesn't make sense.
I'm pretty shocked at the ignorance on display here.
opeboyal (7 hours ago)
if you spit at -15 degrees F, you can actually hear it freeze in mid air. it makes a crackle sound.
(Reply)
mixle (7 hours ago)
You can't spit at -15 degrees A, B, C or F! Zero is zero, and nothing is less than that. Please educate yourself.
...
Mixle: Yeah, 0 equals -17.8 and war equals peace and up is down.
Sure

There wasn't a "Mark as Stupid" link, so I marked your comment as spam. I expect you to be banned from YouTube, Google and the Original Pancake House immediately.
There are a few more, but all they show is that this someone just posting to get some attention. - zirtbow, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@BlackSheepx... Have you ever spilled milk or orange juice before? You would end up with a film of that stuff all over the room you used it in. I'm not sure what effect your going for here. Unless its to have your room smell like spoiled milk in a few days.
- thtroyer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5@BlackSheepx
Umm.. You want to evaporate the water out of OJ or milk?
Do you know what a humidifier does/how it works? - zeek741852, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4digg me down but i have to say it i hate any one who has snow right now i live in new york and it is bare we havent had any snow yet
- BritishGolgo13, on 10/12/2007, -3/+6Can someone explain how/why this happens?
- falstaff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3It doesn't have to be anywhere near -45 degrees outside (I've done it closer to 0), nor does the water have to be actually boiling (once you remove it from heat, water cools to less than 212 almost instantly).
- BlackSheepx, on 10/12/2007, -5/+8...This is half relevant...I've always wondered if somebody has, instead of using water, used something like milk or orange juice in a humidifier at their house before?
and that video was awesome, I wish it would have been a wall of ice though :[ - daimposter, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3did anybody read the comments on youtube? 'mixie' is leaving the funniest yet stupidest comments one can imagine. DIGG just for the comments section in the youtube video.
- sputnike, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Due to the fact it were boiling water, the particles were still vibrating rapidly when being thrown, however the surface area greatly increased causing it to both cool down rapidly and remain warm at the same time. However if the water was cold, then chances are there could have been either a wall of ice (however this is unlikely due to the amount of water being thrown) or small hail stones.
"I dumped Biology for Physics in the 1970's as it was much cooler" - Ninja, Ask a Ninja - racer108, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@DyDx
"Don't dig kinesis down, because throwing a match into a cloud of dust or small particles can cause a nasty explosion. Whether it would work with ice water.. I'm not positive"
Not positive about what?! EVERYONE knows that water is not flammable. Well, almost everyone. - ImOscar, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4Or assumming vertical is zero degrees....
- theojanke, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Newton's Law of Cooling:
The rate of heat loss of a body is proportional to the difference in temperatures between the body and its surroundings. - Mitchum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Come on! Haven't you ever witnessed a cloud of "water dust" (commonly known as steam) burst into flame?
- urbanRock, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2@wepeel, If I remember right, Mythbuster didn't test if piss could freeze while coming out of you. It was whether or not you could get electrocuted through the piss-stream.
- Mitchum, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Yeah because Alberta's got it so bad. You could have just said Canada you pretentious prick.
- trc0, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2It's funny that people are so amazed by this. Just another day in an Alberta winter.
- mindless2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1The Very Cool! Actually wasn't meant to be a pun, it just found its way in there :).
- ProximaC, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I could swear the Mythbusters did this in one of their episodes...
- dboyer, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I actually tried this too - thought it would make for an interesting video, but no effect. Either its not warm enough, the stream is 'too compact' (not enough surface area) or the additional content in urine made it not work.
- hfxadv, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2really?....welcome to Canada!
- supremesonic, on 10/12/2007, -4/+3I'm still trying to work out if "Very cool!" was an intentional joke or not...
- dalle, on 10/12/2007, -5/+1Yeah, the water is hot and the air is cold, that makes the water instantly vapourize. If it's really cold outside none of the tossed water would've landed. At least not as water but as ice.
- ShadedSpriter, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1It is a 18 hour old video...how is that "old" even in internet years that is young.
- untilwefall, on 10/12/2007, -6/+0regular water freezes at 32 degrees f. anything in the negatives will freeze it faster. being -45 makes it turn to thick ice/snow as all drops of water are instantly frozen when isolated from each other.
- RationalAntaxia, on 10/12/2007, -10/+4this video is old......get some new content!
- DyDx, on 10/12/2007, -18/+6Don't dig kinesis down, because throwing a match into a cloud of dust or small particles can cause a nasty explosion. Whether it would work with ice water.. I'm not positive.
- pantless113, on 10/12/2007, -16/+3its not an inclination, its the temperature outside.
- raynar, on 10/12/2007, -17/+0I saw it hit the ground, eh. What are you talking abooot, lets go inside and watch Brett Favre throw for three hundred friggin yahds...wicked awesome eh!
- kinesis8, on 10/12/2007, -24/+5Toss a match into the smoke
- PradaPete, on 10/12/2007, -24/+0obvious fake it's dry ice
- EvilSpudBoy, on 10/12/2007, -68/+4Very cool. There's no audio, but if there was, I think it would go something like, "That was awesome! OK, let's go back inside now."
