        3500 calories in a pound of fat * 30 pounds = 105K
        155 calories in one 12 oz can of coke or about 13 calories per oz
        105K/13=8077 oz of coke.

        Now 4 months is roughly 4*30.5 = 122 days
        8077 oz / 122 days = 66 oz of pop per day.

        Which is a lot but I've seen many people drink this much. A couple big gulps from 7 Eleven and your over the limit. I put down about 40 oz of Diet soda a day (need to cut back myself).

Hell, I would imagine most of the liquid would have evaporated well before the year was up unless he kept refilling it, and that egg should have been much nastier. In addition, a year was excessive. Sit anything organic in a liquid for a year, and you're bound to get some kind of disastrous result.

There are a lot of good reasons to avoid soda, but the fact that it will dissolve an egg shell after 1 whole year is not one of them.
