- StyX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3One should also read: http://www.3dbuzz.com/vbforum/sv_dl_index.php before attempting to download anything.
I should also add that everything isn't free on the site. Some products and some download are reserved for paying members of the site.
But the free content that is available is simply amazing.
Some of you might recognize the site from a few years ago, when Jason Busby (head of 3dbuzz.com) was interviewed on The Screensaver (TechTV)- zyron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13dbuzz is a great site. Lots of great people and a very cool place to learn :)
- neutroncore, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13dBuzz is without a doubt the single most useful educational resource I've found in my career, and I only wish I'd found it earlier!
The site presents so much content, both in terms of free and purchased downloads, along with extremely high quality training available on DVD, and in the strong community that backs up the site. Friendly and informative, I've never found such a helpful collective of creative and enthused, like minded people.
Huge respect to the people who work so hard to make this site what it is, and all those that help them. Look, Listen, Learn.

You could win 1000 Dollars
WOOT WOOT.
Thanks for sharing!!!- brayonmt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1As a lot of people mention, they are awesome for their training videos and much much more.
3d Buzz is my favorite web site and the most realistic information you can get. They have the daily news show every working day and they talk about the industry. That is the only news that you get positive thing brought to you.
I'm currently in the 3ds max fundamental class and WOW WOW, you should see the content that we get out of those classes. You know, sometimes you get some video tutorials or reading tutorial and you see what the person is doing and you just follow along. At the end you look at your project and you cool, but then someone ask you how did you do that and then you start mumbling technical words. But in the back of your mind, you say, yeah, how did I do that. Well with 3dBuzz, don't worry, after doing a training with them, you will remember WHY and HOW you did it because the way they explain it. They let you know, why you should do this and what result you should expect and then, that is not all, they tell you about different ways to accomplish the task or show you what happens if you go with different parameters.
So, go and see it and join the club it is a very respectful community and everyone respect each other. But, most of all you will not be disappointed :)
BIG THANK YOU BUZZ, I'm looking forward for the daily news today and tomorrow and next week. Keep the good stuff coming, I love it ;)

- Snowdays, on 10/12/2007, -13/+1This dude is shameless! He makes it so clear in his latest (10/29) Daily News episode, that he gives away money to lure new people to his page.
Thing is, this is an old Walmart tactic! Attract the consumer with a free tidbit, so they come back and buy the more expensive merchandise.
Same goes for his "Free" training, He throws you a bone of at most, 3 or 4 lessons and then to continue further, you must be a member sponsor @ $35 a month.
Compare this site with CG talk and you will never open 3d Buzz again!- ffejnosliw, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14Yes, 3DBuzz is giving away money to attract people to the site. It is just a form of advertising. When a company puts a commercial on TV and tells you to buy their product, that is not considered shameless. So why should this method be any different? Oh, wait...Walmart does this too. I can see your point then. I mean...it's not as if Walmart is a successful company. Emulating any of their business practices is surely a foolish idea.
As for there being only 3 or 4 lessons of free content, that is just plain fiction. For 3dsMax, there are 6 Issues totalling 53 videos...all of it free. For Unreal, there are 10 Issues totalling 81 videos...all of it free. There are 29 Maya videos in the free section, 33 Houdini videos, 27 DOOM 3 videos, 72 Motionbuilder videos, 19 PHP/MySQL videos. There are even 12 Math videos (these may be especially helpful to you).
Unless you have purchased any of their paid training, you really cannot comment on whether you can find comparable content elsewhere on the internet, free or otherwise. According to 3D World magazine, Mastering Maya: The Fundamentals is some of the best Maya training ever created. That says something for it.
I know none of this will sway you in any way. I just wanted to provide some more accurate information about the situation. You are welcome to your opinion of the company and the site and I wish you well. - DarkViper338, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12Shameless? Not really. All companies advertise if they want to survive, and most companies spend their advertising dollars putting pretty pictures in magazines and snazzy banners across the web. We're simply putting the money into our potential customers' hands.
A Wal-Mart tactic? I worked at Wal-Mart for several years. The most they give you will is a "Gift Card" that you can only spend in their store. The prize money on this contest could be spent anywhere. Even at another training company, if you like.
As for our videos being freely available on the Web... LOL!
Our most popular video to date is an 82-hour monster that sells for $250 (about $3.05 per hour) and has been internationally hailed as being without a doubt the most comprehensive if not the very best Maya training video ever recorded. That's not even boasting (much), that's right from a review in 3D World Magazine. All of the content is watermarked, and I'd be EXTREMELY interested to know where exactly you can download it, or even a rehashed version of it. I simply don't believe it. :)
And no, you don't have to become a Member Sponsor after the first four videos or so. We have about 200 hours of free training available on our site, most of it introductory in nature. The higher-end and more focused videos are indeed available for purchase, though I know of no place where you can download them (or anything like them, for that matter).
No need for the animosity in your tone. You could cry "shameless" at any company that spent money on advertising. In the end, it all boils down to the same thing: Companies spend money to excite their customers. That's all we're doing, with the only difference being that you could actually profit from the situation.

3D Buzz - Swoop_dk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2You apparently dont know anything about the site.
Buzz is giving away free stuff constantly. Of course there is costs with running a site such as 3dbuzz, and it's his company now so there is also some videos and educations that cost a small amount of money. Now i say small compared to other options that provide training in the same subject.
The free videos are far from just a couple of free ones. You can litteraly learn an entire program with the free videos ... e.g. i learned alot of max from the free videos.
Wellworth a digg !

- fr3nzy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Snowdays, What does CGTALK offer you? it might be a site where alot of "Industry" people post but in some areas the forum is dead and not as often used as the one of BUZZ. 3dbuzz has been offering free tutorials, entire sets, for a long time now. They do need to make money... So they started a member sponsor and a DVD set that is not so pricy if you look at competitors
- Snowdays, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2Fr3nzy,
Truth be known, this "Low" priced dvd set you speak of. In fact, any of the training videos I have looked over in the "Store" are all common videos already available for free over the web. You don't need to spend a red cent for them if you can search pretty decent.
Yes, I am sure the 3d buzz fanboys are gonna come a runnin to respond and that is Kool. If buzz has been around this long, then his VTMs are no big secret (and they aren't). People know they are there, they just don't go to the page because they can find the info elswhere for nothing,
Another point, if you look at some of the buzz fanboys personal sites, some of them have taken his VTM ideas and made them their own! All the while charging for less.
They don't use his VTMs, but pretty much read /recite them word for word in their own videos and sell them on their sites for less!
Now, we know why he needs more members and more money. He created his own monsters! - Cander, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2@snowdays
Buzz has addressed your complaints in todays show. If you are actually comfortable in your position, how about you go on 3dbuzz.com and respond? Unless the limit of your responses is with using 'fanboy' a few more times. The #1 word of people with no real arguement so they attempt, albeit poorly, to insult the community of people who enjoy the product.

Even though he is a skinny, little man now--he still has a big heart and some great products backing up a great site! Make sure and watch last weeks Daily news episodes and watch for the line "Don't play with the Artichokes!"
Still cracks me up! - fr3nzy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Snowdays.
I dont really agree, There are no sites on the web that contain video tutorials that go from the total beginning, ( installing maya) to doing advanced projects like making a high poly jet or character. But then again if you are one of the Pro's can you please provide me with a link to ur portfolio. Greatly appreciated. - themulf, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I owe Jason Busby a lot, even though Ive been a off and on members sponsor, I have learned A LOT from his videos. 3D BUZZ ROCKS!

- munkeystump, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I've been crawling 3d buzz for years. Aside from the highly predictable "read the manual" answers that follow most queries posted to the forums, the users are mostly very knowledgeable, very talented, and very helpful.
For someone who wants to get an image out of their head and onto the screen, their videos are very informative and a great springboard.
concerning the videos that cost money...God forbid someone make a buck doing what they love. - busbyj, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4"Could not get login ID." - Log out and back into the site. If that does not work, PM me on the site at busbyj and I'll be more than happy to help. Cheers!

I did not realize there was compulsory registration. Perhaps another now.
Thanks for the assistance.

- Cubemario, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Yeah, 3D Buzz definetely is awesome. I've learned an incredible amount about maya because of them, I would not be where I am today if it wasn't for them.
- abecks, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Are you anti-buzzer's retarded? 3d buzz offers a "one-stop" location for TONS of video tutorials. Yes, stuff you can find elsewhere for "searching hard". BUT WHY SEARCH HARD WHEN THERE IS A REPOSITORY WITH ALL OF IT ALREADY? They went to a lot of hard work in preparing an incredible, FREE, community. And for the stuff they do sell, well, how would you like to spend thousands of dollars on a Maya or 3dsmax, spend months making tutorials, and give them out for nothing? The tutorials, even the free ones, are structured and sequential, they move you up essentially "noob to pro" or until you have the ability to experiment with the rest of the program on your own. And if you dont want to drop a few thousand dollars by going to post-secondary to learn it, then you can learn it, and more, for $40 a month. Take your pick.
- ArcticCelt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I know pretty well my c et c++ for "dos" prompt coding but never was able to find any tutorial that help me do the jump into graphics. I will look there but if in case I don't find anything do someone have any suggestion of a good tutorial for transition to graphics or even windows coding?
- kafka47, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4The Buzz tutorials take you through programming an entire game in C++, starting off by assuming that you KNOW NOTHING. And if you subscribe, you'll get a CD with video teaching you OpenGL.

OH! What's that? you were talking about downloading the videos off pirate sites? well that makes sense now doesn't it, with all that "you don't need to spend a red cent for them if you can search pretty decent." talk.
Guess what?! Your nothing but a damn Pirate, ain't that right M8ty?
Yarr! - Palusko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Buzz.com is a GREAT site. If you have no money at all, you still can lear plenty. In fact, you can lear for free more than on many of those extensive courses offered by official educational institutes. And if you have some money to spear, you can go very, VERY far. Period.

- bulliteater, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1One of the best educational sites on the web, in fact, I have just recently bought their C++/Opengl content, it has certainly taught me lots, go over and have a look, you won't be sorry
- ZebulonPi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I love the site, myself. The sheer amount of training there is amazing, and gets better all the time, plus the people that hang at the forums definitely know what they're talking about.
- errolian, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have recently become a Member Sponsor of the site and it is well worth the money. But the site is for EVERYONE, with over 200 hours of FREE professional training videos available the moment you join the site.
- JNosneb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been a member on this website for over 2 years now and the content that is being produced there is at a level that i haven't found met on any other website on the net. I have purchased the 3DS Max Fundamentals course and i have learned so much about 3DS Max that i can't wait till they send me the DVDs so i can get started on this course properly
- sterlma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13D Buzz is simply fantastic!
I've taken Maya classes actually AT Gnomon and gone through many, many other tutorials. NOWHERE, have I found as comprehensive and in depth Maya learning as I have at 3DBuzz. NOWHERE! I learned more from the Maya Fundamentals DVD than I ever did actually sitting in a class room. The free content itself is more than enough to get someone up running and comfortable in Maya. I've been so impressed, I recently became a member sponsor. Now if they would only activate it.
If anyone wants to learn 3D there is probably no better site on the web. - Mark403, on 10/12/2007, -0/+21 word is needed for this site.
AWESOME. - babylonwanderer, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13DBuzz.com is an awesome, friendly community, with THEE best training content available anywhere online, or in schools.
- thesethman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have to say that 3dbuzz has some excellent content, it’s one of the best places on the net to get started in CG, game design ext, ext,,
If you guys haven’t yet checked it out, watch the VTMs over unreal, quake, doom, and half-life. It’s the perfect introduction to modding, and if kept up one could possible get a job in the gaming community and it all starts here completely for free. - MossaTheGreat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You know what... Let me straight forward with all of you. I am no fan-boy or anything, I am just a young guy that want learn CG. Computer Graphics for those that hate terms. And I found 3DBuzz a very helpful community not to mention that 3DBuzz crew is one of the best to teach things like 3D and Programming.
Do not take MY words for it, nor the Buzz Crew's words, not even the endless other members that joined and said "meh! Let us try buy one of their project" after watching a whole series of their free training videos, and how GOOD they became. Nope all those people are just big fat a$$ "fanboyZ" that don't really know what they are talking about.
Here is my advice that everyone, those interested and not interested in 3D/2D/Programming... Go to www.3DBuzz.com, check the video tutorials out, and see how awesome they truly are. And then, yes you won't regret it at all even though 3D doesn't interest you "at all" and see how much you learned and how much you want to learn more.
Then I'd suggest buying one of their products, any of them that sounds interesting to you, and tell me then what you are doing "24/7/30/12". For those that ain't familiar with that form of notations, it simply means 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 12 months a year. - Abdelharg, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I am a member at 3DBUZZ for a couple of months now, and i must say it is THE BEST SITE ever.. I learned allot there still am, great community, free education videos,... .
Join www.3dbuzz.com - Bigzee, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I honestly don't understand why people get so hung up over the faq that 3DBUZZ actually sells some training videos. Nobody is forcing you to buy them! They weren't being dishonest when they said "Free VTMs". They have lots of Free VTMs for those of you that don't want to invest in an education or don't think they can afford to.
They also have excellent training videos at a very reasonable price. I know because I have purchased several of them; C++/OpenGL bundle, Maya Fundementals DVD set, and the Advanced Maya Modelling DVD set. I can say, they are very well done and worth more than the price they sell for. I have never been disappointed in the purchases that I have made at 3DBuzz. I can't say that about some other places! When you start comparing the different educational options that are available, the price that 3DBUZZ charges is very inexpensive for the amount of content that you receive. They just have good stuff that just keeps getting better and better. My only problem is just trying to keep up with it all! - neelz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I've been a member for God knows how long know and I can tell you without exaggerating that 3dbuzz offers the best training on the web, period. Hell, I've heard it beats many real life college classes and after watching the Maya Fundamentals and the Advanced Modeling class, I understand why. Don't think twice if you want to join the community, download the video's or purchase the classes because you're not going to find more value for your buck anywhere else.
- ZeMole, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'm a member of 3DBuzz and watch the Daily News regularly
(highly recommend, full of great info)
and I have to say its a just a great community of people helping one another with any problems they might have to do with programming, max, Maya etc.
There free VTM's are great I learned alot from being a complete beginner.
I also bought the C++ and OpenGL VTM's and they were also great I'm learning
alot about programming now and its easy to learn when your being tought by
the 3DBuzz crew.
Thanks 3DBuzz - 6dollarman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1 3DBuzz has turned my 3d animation hobby from something
that could be potentially very expensive to learn into an affordable, fun learning experience.
I started with the free tutorials and decided I wanted to take this pastime seriously,
so I jumped at the chance to learn from these guys when they released the Maya
learning packages.
There is a difference between being shown how to do something and being taught
how to do something and why.
They never leave you guessing. - Stu_hacking, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1In all 5 or 6 years of it's history 3DBuzz has gone from strength to strength. Not only has the training material always been ahead of the game, and by that I mean bang up to date information AND fun and enjoyable to watch, but the community on the forums is great.
3DBuzz started small, there were few members by today's standard, but it grew...it grew by it's reputation of offering probably the best 3d training at the best price. Today the site is supported by a lot more servers, the member list has literally exploded, I'm sure the download queues are constantly bombarded... that kind of automation isn't easy, or cheap! However, in my humble opinion, 3DBuzz STILL offers the best training, and still at the best price. Trust me, you will not find cheaper training at this quality. - Rhino272, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Personally speaking, 3D Buzz has given me the one thing that no ther site or company has ever given me before, HOPE. I stubled onto the site after getting rejection letter after rejection letter for student loans. I was seriously considewring throwing in the towel. Then I stumbled onto this site I'd never heard of (thanks Google) and man was I hooked. Not only were there FREE videos but there was a radio show (since evolved into a TV show) that was funny as hell. Plus there was a proprietary chat program that came with Member Sponsorship that allowed me to talk with other members of the site in real time. Plus the Maya classes are nothing short of awesome. 3D Buzz is not only a great site for learning but Busby is a great human being who has put so much of himself in this community. So it enrages me to hear haters not express any valid grievances but tear down the site because they are obviously too dense to understand that 3D Buzz is a business. It isn't a hobby, it's the man's livliehood plus the livliehoods of at least 6 other people. Guess what, you need money to run a business. So get out of your mom's basement, get a job and join the real world. And as for those "FREE" videos remember you get what you pay for. To conclude, I dare anyone to call me a "Buzz Fanboy", do it and I'll break my Size 13 EEE of in a very uncomfortable place.
- Gapper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I've been a member of 3D Buzz for ... well ... ages ... It is the one site that I visit a few times a day just to keep up with everything. You'll find me under my name amogley.
The site is just an aladdins cave of educational material, and it is all amazingly well presented. They have the best training vids around. I'm already a proud owner of Mastering Maya Fundamentals, and Mastering Maya Advanced Modelling. I'm looking forward to the rigging when they get around to it, and I'm considering getting the 3DS Max vids. Plus I have the Mastering Unreal Technology book. All the training material, whether it is free, or the commercial products, is always presented a enjoyable manner that really keeps you hooked. Not like some of the other "insomnia cures" that are available.
The team already have a certain amout of industry recongnition. For those that don't know, the Buzz team provided all the video tutorials on the Editors Edition of UT2K4 ... and Epic have asked the team to do something for the new Unreal Engine.
... and if that wasn't enough. There is the daily news TV show (the current news about 3D world, Gaming, and other "curiousities"),is currently giving away crazy prizes, and there is the unique "modelling on the fly" series where one of the team (Zak) creates 3D models from scratch in real-time giving the viewer a unique insight into real-world usage of the tools, and how modelling is done in the real world. This is really unique, I have not seen it anywhere else on the web.
Anyhow, drop by the site and have a look around. If you are interested in 3D (even in the slightest), you will find something here for you. And to top it all, there is an amazing community there too.
Hope to see some new faces there ;) - mute209, on 10/12/2007, -0/+13DBuzz is a great site with tons of informative video lessons covering a nice range of topics, run by intelligent, generous people and backed by an awesome community. What's not to love?
