Also, he'd put like 4-5 bottles at once to do this because sometimes the apples didn't grow right, rotted or had parasites in them (and once it's in the bottle, you can't do anything about it).

- MattBD, on 05/25/2008, -1/+41I was thinking it would be the same way you get a boiled egg in a bottle - light a match, drop it in and put the egg in the neck and as it burns the air pressure inside reduces and the fruit is pushed in by the air pressure from outside - I expect it would probably work with smaller fruit like strawberries, but an apple or pear would definitely be out of the question. Maybe satsumas might work as well.
