But then he bragged for a while about how he knows how the flame burns the oxygen out of the space between the glass and your palm and forms a vacuum. Then he called over some new arrivals to watch. Then he made a big asinine show of it before putting his palm down. When he finally put his hand on the glass we heard his skin sizzle and it took a pretty good flailing effort for him to shake off the shot glass too. The burn was hilarious. A perfect circle blister.

- baalzebub, on 11/16/2007, -0/+7actually what causes it is: the fire warms up the air & shotglass, when you put your hand over the glass the fire goes out from lack of oxygen so it cools, the cooling effect causes a slight vacuum, heat expands - cool contracts...

I did it once with a small wine glass (forget the name) and it got stuck on my hand and burnt a ring on my palm. The waiter girl just keep blowing that damn whistle at me.
