- CasaWood, on 07/23/2008, -0/+15I'm not too sure how excited this announcement is. I just ran a search on my name and it returned several possible folks that could be mistaken for me by someone like a parent or neighborhood watchdog. Unless they had more details than my name it would lead them to wonder far too many wrong things about me, especially since I have no criminal background at all. If they do the search and then find details that cause them to wonder should they approach me with the information? What will that do for our relationship? How will my denial help put to rest their new suspicions? This takes the sex offender database to the next level and it is a way to keep us on the edge of distrust for those we live and interact with everyday. No, I'm not sure we should be too excited about this new tool...
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+12Privacy should be a huge concern, I agree with Casawood, not sure how I feel about this. It is definitely a great tool and does exactly what it is supposed to do, I just don't like the idea of this information being so readily available to the masses. Now for the hypocrisy! I spent a good deal of time looking up friends and snooping around and I guess that is part of what incited this response.

- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+6Sound like an excellent tool for someone with a grudge. I agree with vroom101. this is a bad, bad idea. Innocent people are going to get burned.
- vroom101, on 07/23/2008, -1/+7This is not a good thing.

- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+6damn, guess this means i should go change my name
- Bukowsky, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5damn... sometimes technology scares me. I only say that because this is just one more portal for people to find me.
- madmondo, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Man I found myself on there.
- HanFastolfe, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Dugg, for being self aware enough to know that, everyone, has their level of hypocrisy.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -1/+4The sex offender database has been available in most states, free, for quite a while. This is just their version of already publicly available (online) data.
- inactive, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1 North Americans used to rail against the Communist when they would have their neighbors watch each other. I think alot of honorable men died and are dying not for freedom. Even George W Bush made the list.
- johnny2k, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1Hey, now I can find out about that (soon to be former) teacher I was going to date!
10 minutes later: Oops! Just found out I'd have to compete with 4th graders! :( - AlohaGuy, on 08/06/2008, -0/+0The website has some glaring gaps. For example, I typed in names of a handful of convicted U.S. Congressmen (Trafficant, Rostenkowski and others), convicted high profile Wall Streeters, financiers and tycoons (Kozlowski, Martha Stewart, Leona Helmsley) etc. and found no records. The site seems to exclude the wealthy, upper and upper-middle class professional. What does that mean? Deliberate policy? Avoiding listing the people who are likeliest to sue PeopleFinder?
