- bysin, on 10/11/2007, -6/+70This video talks about Florida, not Ohio, so this is from the first election he stole (in 2000), not the second.
- Azimuth1, on 10/11/2007, -14/+58I like how Americans always go on about how great and free their country is, despite things like this happening. Land of liberty my arse.
- cr4ft, on 10/11/2007, -10/+49I hope the 29% of brainwashed Americans who still support the Bush Administration look at and consider things like this
As an American, I fear Bush more than I do Bin Laden - thaman02, on 10/11/2007, -2/+23'arse' is British English spelling for 'ass' you goddamn dumbass.
So everyone in your school that is black speaks with a British accent? - Beatmiser, on 10/11/2007, -12/+29@azimuth
And I love how Brits always manage to maintain a sense of smug satisfaction despite the fact that their civil liberties are eroding far faster than ours in the US:
"Amid growing concerns about the U.S. government spying on its citizens, it’s easy to lose sight of the fact that, when it comes to invading its people’s privacy, nobody beats Britain. In a move apparently designed to prove this point brilliantly, the U.K. has developed a plan to monitor every car trip taken in the country by way of camera surveillance. Since there are already about ten video cameras mounted on every intersection in the greater London area, all they’ve got to do is start tracking license plate numbers as they pass by each camera, letting Her Majesty’s Secret Service know exactly where each of her royal subjects is headed at any given time. The surveillance database is expected to maintain records of every citizen’s motoring habits over a five-year period."
http://www.gizmag.com/go/4957/ - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19I'll say this - having done extensive research into this whole situation.
This would make a whole helluva lot more difference - if the American public's votes were figured into the electoral colleges decision.
They aren't for a reason - and I'll give a brief rundown as to why the founding father's wanted it done this way.
The grand plan was to not have all 3 of the different branches of our government elected, or inadvertently elected, by the general public. This is why we don't live in a Democracy (in the strictest sense). The Supreme Court members are nominated by the President, elected in by Congress - and the final decision comes down to the majority elected representatives. The President was never supposed to attain as much power as he currently has - a large part of this is the fault of Roosevelt, and the stance he took pre WW2. The people became dependent on the government, and because of that, a lot of the power that we as a people once had has slowly deteroriated into almost nothing. This is not simply the fault of Bush, but the fault of Clinton, of Bush Sr, of Reagan, the list goes on. One of the only President's in history who tried not to abuse his power or to over-step the boundaries of his power was Kennedy.
I know many of you radical's will be saying, "OMG THE NEO-CONS STOLE MY CLOUDSONG"..
No, they didn't. The Liberals have done it too - and in fact, Liberals favor more government, therefore making the power of the President even more absolute. Libertarians are now the new Republicans - because we believe in a smaller government, we don't believe that it's main goal is to babysit the rest of the world, and the inhabitants of this country.
So - you want smaller government, for people to be more involved in the political process - get rid of the biparistan system and stop asking the majority to vote for a position whose job is to represent the country, not whatever radical majority comes out of the wood-work. - damienoneill, on 10/11/2007, -1/+16errrrr this is a newsnight story. Where does the ban thing come from?
- Abno, on 10/11/2007, -3/+16Here's an article written by Robert F Kennedy Jr about the 2004 election being stolen. People can call him biased as much as they want, but the man did his research and the facts speak for themselves.
http://www.rollingstone.com/news/story/10432334/was_the_2004_election_stolen - Lakeuk, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11False title, it's no a banned doc, it was broadcast on Newsnight in the the UK
- GonadHunter, on 10/11/2007, -4/+13You have fox 'news' and your calling newsnight drivel?
- tofuComputer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7It simply dumbfounds me that Bush is still in office and not in prison. George Bush is not President. He merely "occupies" the oval office illegally, which has been proven. He has broken countless federal laws, invaded Iraq illegally, committed crimes against humanity, wiped out Habeas Corpus, our rights to privacy - the list goes on. How much more must happen before this man and the people who work for him are removed and jailed?
America has been hijacked. And we Americans do we do nothing about it? - e3boy, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7
simple arithmetic:
stolen election + 9/11 + war in Iraq = highest oil profits in history! - hakz, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7you are kidding right?
- Ruarc, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8I see you're from England, so obviously you know what you're talking about, however being from Ireland I watch the BBC a lot, and I never found it left-wing as such, maybe a bit too anti-authoritarian alright. Interesting... C4 news is the way to go, but to be fair thats even worse for that! haha!
- oesj, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8this appears to be part of newsnight; not a separate documentary.
anyway, i vaguely recall having seen this before on TV - was it really completely banned? did the US ban it from broadcast in the states? - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+8The difference between the US and the UK in this situation is that we the public of the great nation of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland trust those with authority that they will not misuse or 'spy' on us using the means which they have. We honestly don't care how many cameras there are - if you're doing nothing wrong then they are nothing to fear.
It's a much nicer place when people trust each other, I'd hate to live in the US, always looking over my shoulder wondering who's pointing a gun at my back. - stalinvlad, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Since when was SKY news right wing?
- rhinopig, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5a) It's not a separate documentary and it's about the 2000 election, not the 04, so I seriously doubt it was 'banned' (perhaps not aired, but that's totally different).
b) people on the internet (digg specifically) used BANNED all the time for ***** that wasn't actually banned. - MMilitia, on 10/11/2007, -5/+9To be honest any bias shown on BBC news pales in comparison to US 'news' programs such as Fox, were they don't even bother to differentiate between news and opinion.
- nick111, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4Yea, well I am British, and for the record, the BBC is not heavily left wing. Anyone who thinks this either doesn't know what left wing is, or is an idiot.
What is it with these people? Anything that isn't a load of ***** fascist lies is "biased" and "left wing". Get a grip. Reality has got a way of coming round and biting you on the arse if you ignore it. - mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -3/+6sorry but.. *lying *Clinton *latter *impeached
- drewpost, on 10/11/2007, -6/+9"Since there are already about ten video cameras mounted on every intersection in the greater London area, all they’ve got to do is start tracking license plate numbers as they pass by each camera, letting Her Majesty’s Secret Service know exactly where each of her royal subjects is headed at any given time."
It's a good thing so many of us in London count Busses, Bikes, the Tube and National Rail as our car - jellygraph, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5This is from the 2000 election, but none-the-less, this highlights a break down in democracy in america and how the neo-cons dragged the world kicking and screaming into the current terrorism-filled nightmare we now inhabit (although we are finally now breaking from)
if only politicians were held accountable... if only - itchyfeet, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Keep drinking your kool-aid.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3DVD decryption! who cares who is dying over what lies, let's decrypt DVDs!
(sarcastic, but true... and so inescapably sad) - x987, on 10/11/2007, -2/+5yeah I hated this every moment of it (Floridian). every reason pointed against bush but under some magical reasoning he won?
- mrASSMAN, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3oh and *too(x2) and *because
- ascolti, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3BANNED!?!? That's a Newsnight article and I DEFINITELY watched it.
- kris33, on 10/11/2007, -0/+225000 more counted votes for Al Gore would have saved tens of thousands of innocent Iraqis and given us more than eight years advantage on the environmental issue.
The world is a sad place. - inkhead, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3Just for the record (not that anyone will believe until proof is leaked) but I know for 100% fact going back at least 20 years that agencies such as the FBI & CIA have actively manipulated the vote to put the leader they feel will be "best" in power.
A small example is the fact that 8 US presidents all belonged to the SAME CHAPTER OF skull & bones. If you figure this out statistically it's about a 1 in 2.2 billion chance of this happening by accident. - hagbard72, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3"Only works because some people are so damn predictable". -GWB
- Ruarc, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3granted yes, the British (administration) are now not glowing example of morality, but its hard to find an American news broadcaster who would ask those kind of questions. I say Kudos!
- etg1109, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2You need to check out the American Blackout...which can be viewed at www.tandemcreations.org/skeptical2.html
- zdroberts, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3All of this info and a hell of alot more is in Greg Palast's (the guy in the video) new book Armed Madhouse- he's also got the scoop on the e-mails and much much more....http://www.gregpalast.com
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2yeah, right. just like the war ended when no WMDs were found.
three thousand three hundred and eighty four American lives later, and countless Iraqi lives later, the killing still goes on. - stalinvlad, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Newsnight is a late night News program on BBC2
This would never be repeated in the normal run of things but might show up edited on BBC News 24, or world service within a day or two. - danarama, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2yep and haliburton stocks rose 3000%
- nick111, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1The CCTV camera situation in the UK is bordering on the insane. The coffee Kiosks at Victoria railway station... little two-man booths, have THREE cctv cameras in them pointing at the staff. Err... why? In case they steal small change?
If you go into any shopping mall in the UK and try to take photographs of the CCTV cameras you'll be arrested by private security guards on the spot.
I think cameras make people easier to catch after the fact, but they've caused no reduction in crime whatosever. - noahhoward, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1So all of the democrats who are trying to impeach him are all a part of the conspiracy to have him steal the election then?
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1so if one were wanting to find proof where might one start looking?
- dvdcr, on 10/11/2007, -2/+3u can talk all u want. But you didn't do a ***** for ur country.
No wonder why u have a retarded monkey as a president.
yeah.. it hurts... i know im gonna be burried. - CharlesDance, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1@ Stimpack the BBC is not left wing you smelly ***** head, it is impartial and it would be a crime if it were anything else. In its own words from the BBC Royal Charter and Agreement it has to be "free from both political and commercial influence and answers only to its viewers and listeners" and is monitored and funded by the BBC trust funded by the British public. SKY News isn't right wing either. Bitch.
- knomevol, on 10/11/2007, -3/+3BBC is considered to have a "liberal bias"? Wow. *That* is scary. But then again y'all're okay with every move you make being videotaped so Mom & Dad can remind you over loudspeaker to behave, so I suppose calling the BBC liberal is not shocking.
- Limin, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1why isnt google video working for me. I cannot access the site period. Weird.
- sunshinemonster, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0I'm not saying this because I'm conservative or right-wing or what have you because I couldn't care less about politics to be honest, but, politicians are held accountable. Can you say Clinton or Nixon? Clinton was impeached and Nixon would have been if he hadn't resigned. In otherwords, your statement is innaccurate, politicians, celebrities, me, we're all normal people, we're not special, we all poop.
- DrOBoogie, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2neiltc13
You trust every single person that the government hires to watch you on cameras without abusing that power? - Error601, on 10/11/2007, -1/+0Clue-in for the Internet newbies...anything claiming to be "banned" is trying to sucker you.
- Jenovaside, on 10/11/2007, -7/+6We knew that they rigged Flordia , but unfortunately now its to little to late.
The us government is never held accountable for their actions.
bush is a lieing president who sucks at running this country; and clintion got sucked. Who would you rather be your leader? becuse only the ladder got enpeached - spankaccount, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1Robert F Kennedy says Bush stole the election? lol
- noahhoward, on 10/11/2007, -4/+2Wrong election.. but I agree completely.
