- entrophize, on 02/19/2008, -3/+100"Erotic magazines run by students at elite colleges have prospered. So why are they having less sex?"
BECAUSE THEY'RE ENGINEERING AND SCIENCE STUDENTS. - Carpediem2000, on 02/19/2008, -9/+53Either way you look at it, a renewed focus on sexuality is very healthy for this country.
- freedomwv, on 02/19/2008, -10/+38I think that it is fear that has caused the decrease in sex on college campus. Everyone knows how to take care of themselves. Wear a rubber and jump right in. Students have been told that you will get something and die if you have sex. Man are driven to fear of sometimes talking to women for fear that if they do have sex the girl might later come back and way it was rape. I live in Tokyo and the idea of sex is a very normal thing indeed. There is a lot less fear about sex here. Most people keep enough rubbers on them, as well as other forms of protection, to be ready when it is time to get it on.
- physco827, on 02/19/2008, -1/+28ouch baby, very ouch.

fighting for the freedom to publish pictures of naked college kids gets my vote - deanjarvis, on 02/19/2008, -0/+16Go on, destroy all of my fantasies. Life just got a little more boring.
- robohoe, on 02/19/2008, -5/+20And that's because US is a prude country. Everyone here says that Sex = Bad.
- TheCosmicFool, on 02/19/2008, -3/+17FTA: "Students reading these magazines came across a website link to www.digg.com. Experts believe this is the leading cause of the lack of sex."
- lnf69, on 02/19/2008, -9/+22I didn't read the article. Couldn't be bothered. But in my own experience; the more one has sex, the less the desire to view erotica. IMHE. (E=experience)
- EvilJelloMan, on 02/19/2008, -2/+15Someone needs to get laid.
- Barnolde, on 02/19/2008, -0/+11Haven't you heard? Everybody's got AIDS!
- EvilJelloMan, on 02/19/2008, -2/+13Pics or it didn't happen
- Vodka2389, on 02/19/2008, -2/+13It's directly correlated to the rise of the popularity of Digg.
- deadcrickets, on 02/19/2008, -3/+13Actually they aren't Christian ideals. The bible itself (especially the Old Testament) encourages sex between man and a woman. This current view of sex (which is also tied to age of adult hood being risen and other changes) is related to one group that gained influence over an entire country. Those claiming that the Christian thing is to avoid sex, etc are not really Christian.
- gavin422, on 02/19/2008, -0/+10Elite colleges are often liberal arts schools too. The article mentioned Harvard and Yale, but not MIT, Berkeley, etc.
- TajesMahoney, on 02/19/2008, -0/+9I've always thought movies portrayed a more active sexual community on campuses. If college was like those trashy new monthly National Lampoon movies, you wouldn't be able to shake someone's hands without getting an STD.
- Phylodome, on 02/19/2008, -1/+9Because we use technology as a multi-layered social filter. We've never been more "connected", yet communicated less. Also, I blame the rise of the word "sketchy", by girls, to describe just about any act that isn't Brad Pitt wooing them with fresh picked carnations.
- yoxxy, on 02/19/2008, -0/+8Pictures or it didn't happen. I am also dating both Giselle and Heidi Klum while driving my Lamborghini to class and still maintaining a 4.0.
- ronaldinho, on 02/19/2008, -2/+10Because they are probably spending all their time blogging about sex instead of actually having it? And why the ***** would you actually write or read erotica if you are actually getting some already!?
- wrillo, on 02/19/2008, -0/+7Headlines:
"America is getting fat!"
"America isn't getting any! No one knows why!" - priegog, on 02/19/2008, -0/+7Hehe, whatever serves you as consolation, dude.
- ifman, on 02/19/2008, -2/+9The article just says the amount of partners people have has decreased. I had 1 partner in college... but made love about 4 times a week... she's my wife now :)
That's how it was for most of my friends that were having sex though, they were in committed relationships and most of them are still with the same person. So to me, that's a lot better than mindless promiscuity. - TheMidnight, on 02/19/2008, -2/+9I was about to say "because they're Digg users" but that would probably get dugg down now, just like this comment will.
- itzac, on 02/19/2008, -0/+7But then so are guys, so...
- the0ther, on 02/19/2008, -1/+8i would say that it's aids + sexual harassment + "don't objectify women" + easy access to porn which is the cause of this mess. and it is a complete ***** disaster. people aren't supposed to live a joyless, sexless life.
- mattmollysdad, on 02/19/2008, -2/+8WTF - things have changed a lot from the 60's. Sort of sounds like a Harold and Kumar movie. Lots of talk but...
- soundofmind, on 02/19/2008, -3/+9I think it might also be interesting to note that the college students who are having sex have less of a desire to read these magazines. From personal experience--as someone in college who does have sex--I really don't care about other peoples' sex, unless they want to involve me in it.
- martelo, on 02/19/2008, -2/+8That's amazing, please let us know how you're posting on Digg from the early 19th century.
- bowe, on 02/19/2008, -1/+7Well they're certainly fatter than ever before.
- TheImmigrant, on 02/19/2008, -3/+81: create blog about sex
2: ????
3: Profit!! - nbcaffeine, on 02/19/2008, -0/+5AIDS AIDS AIDSAIDSAIDS
- godofhonk, on 02/19/2008, -7/+12I'd hit it.
- logiktrip, on 02/19/2008, -1/+6Little boys can't have babies, so the preachers are safe.
- priegog, on 02/19/2008, -0/+4Even though I kindda agree with you, I have to say in college there is time for EVERYTHING. It's not like there are huge drop-out numbers from colleges, and most definately those that do wouldn't blame sex magazines. I think what you meant to bitch about was your country's stupid education system which will make people save up money from the day a kid is born for his college tuition, and even then end's up being one of the biggest (only second to maybe a house) debts a middle class american has to pay for. Higher education is a right in almost the rest of the first world, not a privilege, and that's the way it should be.
- bowe, on 02/19/2008, -0/+4...less sex on campus. We figured it out!
- simpleid, on 02/19/2008, -4/+8females have unreasonable demands for attention and time. at this point in my life i don't want to sacrifice either anymore. lol, in terms they can understand; fear of commitment. females keep forgetting some guys care about more things in life than just sex. that makes it impossible to 'work' with them.
- Jauladeoro, on 08/27/2008, -11/+15Buried - and go ahead and bury me, too. Every time I say something intelligent I get buried while some jerk can say, "I'd hit it" and they become Mr. Popular. That's idiotic. As for this article, there are so many more important things in the world. Who gives a crap about some stupid smut magazines. These students are wasting their time creating porn while they have the privilege to be getting a higher education - something many of us can't afford. What a slap in the face.
- gotterdammerung, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3I blame Facebook.
- warchant, on 02/19/2008, -1/+4one word: halo
- dualityim, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3"Student-run sex magazines like Harvard's H Bomb, Yale's SWAY (an acronym for Sex Week at Yale) and Boston University's Boink have proliferated."
Harvard, Yale, and Boston University in one sentence? Really? - inactive, on 02/19/2008, -0/+3When life hands you AIDS, make lemonAIDS.
- ubuwalker31, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2Dug down for bad advice...Condoms remain the best way to protect against catching genital herpes during sexual activity. Using a condom correctly and consistently will help prevent the spread of the disease. http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/00 ...
- WernerCD, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2Uglier?
No way it could be that the woman look like they always have and men just have more and more unreal/skewed views of them now could it? Plastic surgery, augmentations, photo-shopped, half starved 'super' models, etc etc.
Women look good in all their shapes and sizes. There IS ugly, don't get me wrong. But I think too much media focusing on fake twigs - makes comparisons to 'real' women unfair for 'real' women. - WayOfTheIronPaw, on 02/19/2008, -1/+3Another word: anteater.
- brianjlowry, on 02/19/2008, -1/+3Because they are satisfying themselves and don't care as much about chasing tail!
- CorwinShiu, on 02/19/2008, -1/+3Why are people digging this down? It's true, we can't on one hand be all showing half nude women all over the tv and magazines while on the other hand preach that sex is bad.
- ST0N3, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2you want to know why? because the elite colleges get more and more elite and the student body gets less and less attractive as admissions standards rise.
- threemagic, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2You make the assumption that these blogs are done by students with no spare time OR not on the journalism staff. I know a number of the blog's that have hit digg have been by journalism students.
You should be dugg down, you won't be because you told them to digg you down. - KarthVader, on 02/19/2008, -0/+2I have to pay? ***** that. Tons of free pr0n on the internet.
